    Can you make a 100 meter dash training video? Or a sprinting training video in general. With full detail. Would be greatly appreciated.

    Do you have summer camp (that girls could attend)? Or do you do person coaching sessions (even if it's thru zoom). I have a HS JR who has great potential but no personal coaching (team coach is an XC coach & does not focus on sprints). We never knew XC could screw up her sprint technique & now we have issues. This season's half over & she only has 1 more season. She didn't have a Freshman track season due to covid so she poured into XC (they did have XC every yr). She Pole Vaults & runs the 200 & 400 & those relays (when they need a sub cause she's slower).
    Thanks coach!

    If I’m right you’re football players do weights,are you involved in their program,what’s your feelings on using weights in building strength,I personally feel there probably is better ways.Med ball and plyometrics ,greater rang of motion and more specific,depending on the movements you choose and potentially more explosive.Thank you for being so generous with you time and experience.

      Our football players lift. You are correct, lots of ways to build strength. Sprinting and jumping are very under-rated strength exercises.

      @@coachtonyholler Thanks for the reply, just one more question, that’s if you have time to answer,what roughly would you do to Dylan Gramley to take him from 11 to 10.8 or 10 .7 work on the base of the previous year,just increase the intensity of his training that bit more,with out going crazy,and work on better movement.Wish you all the best Tony.

      @@pendrop9421 … for Dylan, strength training will be important. He’s not a football player, not a lifter. Besides that, we just keep “watering the bamboo”. Speed grows like a tree. As guys get closer to their ceiling, nutrition and sleep become more important.

    Coach Holler, do you specialize any practices just for relays throughout the year or only once you get rolling into the road to state?

    • @coachtonyholler
      @coachtonyholler  3 года назад +2

      We might devote one practice early to nothing but exchanges. From then on, it’s just part of our day a couple times a week.

  • @malakizzles
    @malakizzles 3 года назад

    Why is it that you can do all out sprinting 2-3 times a week for basically all year long, and still improve, but when you try high or long jumping the same frequency (assuming the same method of jump each time) you eventually plateau and then regress?

    • @coachtonyholler
      @coachtonyholler  3 года назад

      We are never "all year long". There's tons of natural breaks. Lots of kids play multiple sports. Our in-season doesn't look like our off-season.

    Hey Tony,I used to have overtraining problems,now I'm cool and I do pure speed training (I also lift a little bit because I'm pretty weak and that would be beneficial for both rate of force development and strength in the beginning. I have never really lifted). In april and may I'd have 60% of days off,but it's too much,I'd wait for 72 hours between sprint sessions. How to find that proper amount of days I can train? Isn't having workouts back to back bad? I mean you definitely want to be completely rested to attack the track,and after an intense sprinting session like 5x60m with a 6 minute rest between each sprint,in a few days your CNS and muscles can't be fresh and give you 100% effort. I used to train a lot,I'd go to extremes. Then after getting overtrained,I also went to extremes,but this time I'd rest too much.

    • @coachtonyholler
      @coachtonyholler  3 года назад +1

      Everyone is different. I like a four-day work week. Speed - X - Speed - X, then three days off to recover and *grow*. We don't sprint on back to back days but we are so microdosed, I think we could sprint two days in a row. Three five second sprints don't "burn the steak". My general rule... always train fresh, caffeinated, and excited. Even if you don't do caffeine, your body needs to be "lit up" and ready to sprint.
