I have 2 45 Glocks, 41 and a 30S. I love em both. The 30S is in my opinion the perfect carry 45. The size of a G19 with 11rds of 45 or how I carry it most of the time is with the 9rd flush mag. It is the close to the size of the G26 then with 10rds of 45 ready to go if needed. There is nothing out there with it’s size that holds this many of the 45 pills. It dominates everything else. The G41 is basically the long slide version of the 30S. They go great together. Both are great to shoot. It is amazing how soft the 30S shoots and I shoot 9mm probably 80% of the time. I can not recommend these 2 45 Glocks enough. IMO maybe the only 2 45’s a person needs. If I had to pick one though it would be the 30S. You can carry and use it as a duty pistol and as a CCW pistol. The ability to put a weapon light on the 30S makes it maybe the perfect most capable 45 out there. It is one of the best kept secrets in the gun world.

My dang HK45 full-size only has 10 rds and it’s twice the size. It’s probably thinner but this is a rare time glock has better capacity. I don’t know how HK only had 10 rounders and didn’t release a better double stack mag for it. FNX 45s are instantly put before because 1. Optics ready 2. 15 rounds vs HK45s 10 as the best “combat 45” . HK45 is my bedside gun but it will be the FNX as soon as I feel like spending the money. I think I’ll get the Glock 30 first

      @@JohnnyBravo02
Well it is a completely different shooting experience between the 30S and the HK 45. Yes the 30S is a great little shooter but it’s nothing like the full size HK. For a full size 45 I prefer the USP 45, which I also have, a USP 45 Tactical. I had a FNX 45. It was ok, very big blocky grip, which it has to be in order to hold 15 rounds. But for conceal carry the 30s is hard to beat.

@@elliottbutts153 I agree, I appreciate you telling me your experience because I have t shot the 30 or the 45. My HK45 is the only 45 I’ve ever shot and I bought it from my buddy because it shot so well and I love HKs ergonomics

Always been an HK guy(my buddy loved Glocks, but I never liked any of his)....found one of these at my gun shop one day and it just fit, bought it and I have to say, it's now my go-to. Actually had an instructor(former Police Chief) peer around the lane divider to compliment my accuracy and then be astonished at what I was shooting. It's about what works for you. I think it's important to keep an open mind about trying new things. My 2 pennies :)

Going from the Beretta M9 9mm, during my time as Security Forces, in the Air Force, to the gen 4 Glock 30 as my concealed carry, I love it. Thank you for your great review.

The BEST review on the 30! I have carried a 30 on duty in plain clothes and off duty for years. I am glad you pointed out how the "hump/end of grip" fits in your hand. I feel the same way. The 19 is a little longer and it ends in the "meat" of the bottom on my hand. I do not like the fit at all. The accuracy and soft shooting are so good, I put my 21 in mothballs. I carry and qualify with the 21 mags as back up with the stock mag in the gun. This has been my favorite gun for duty and off duty carry that I have used in the past 30 plus years. It is like an on a friend that you have confidence in and you can trust. I just put a Holosun 507C on it for Fall qualification, low light shooting and my eyes seemed 30 years younger. I do feel like I have been cheating on my "big girl" as I have been playing around with younger and slimmer 365 XL with a Holosun 407K. However, I will never kick my chunky girl to the curb. Keep up the good work!

It is very accurate like the 21. It fits my hands better than the full-size 21. For me, I do not give up any accuracy with the 30. In fact, I have more confidence in the 30 due to fit and consistency when shooting. I do carry the full-size mags for reloads. I train with both mags. @@Mbg72

Great video. I switched from 1911 to Glock 30 FS about 6 years ago as my EDC. Round capacity durability and LE program price did it for me. I live on a small farm and carry my Glock in woods and when out and about.
Your right on the size comparison to other 9mm's. I can tuck it in my pajama pocket when I walk to the mailbox. I carry it with the 10 round mag and Glock 21 mag as my spare. I have dropped it from my mower and had it drop in the creek on me. Just cleaned it up and it is still smooth as butter.
I was in the military during the change to 9mm and was ine if the biggest cry babies about switch from the 1911. It wasn't until I shoot a Match Grade 1911 that I realized just accurate a GOOD 1911 can be. The ones we carries were complete garbage.
As you said polygonal ( so?) barrel and weight is the key to it's accuracy to me. I can shoot knots with my pistol and I am not a pistol at all.
After 6 years I have no regrets and for the record it is the only Glock I have ever owned. I call it my farm utility pistol LOL.
Great review and appreciate the neutral evaluation of the 9mm vs .45 acp drama. Shoot what you shoot best is my recommendation.

I just got home with my new Glock 30 4th gen and I can't wait to take it to the range. You're right, with the market saturated with 9mm's, I was able to get a decent price for this particular piece. As much as I enjoy my Taurus PT111 9mm, this will add variety to my practice.

Man this video was helpful to me as a new shooter. I was at a military gun counter this past Sunday and couldn’t walk away from the 30SF in the case. My first Glock and first .45 cal. Last time I shot the round was 30 years ago while active duty Navy. They issued us those old 1911 Colt’s for roving security on the ship. Hope I didn’t bite off more than I can handle with this Glock. I, like everyone else these days, had been shooting .9mm. Thanks again for your detailed review.

I have been watching and listening about Glock for a few years. Finally decided to get one, add to my collection. Listening to this young man, his story sounds a little familiar, although I love .45's. As well as 9, 10 & 40 cal. Plus .44, .38, and even the little pop gun .32 - To my surprise, Glock 30 was relatively light, compared to the Rock Island/Springfield subcompact. The Glock is real easy to carry in just a nylon holster, gonna get me a leather one pretty quick. However, I stopped the video a couple of times and listened to this gentleman's take on the sights. I am also having a little trouble getting accurate shots. But then again, I am spoiled by the traditional sights of a Smith & Wesson 439, RIA subcompact .45, etc. . . . would love to hear suggestions.

Much better than the diminutive 9mm that relies on loud high pressure and expansion for effect. The push beats the pop every time.

Very informative vid, ty. I've narrowed down between the Glock and a Kahr. With the Kahr, it's slimmer. With the Glock, bigger capacity. Still pondering. Stay safe out there Blue.

I’m late to the Glock 30 party. Only carry 45 with 1911. I never considered a striker fired carry in 45 acp.
You got me interested cause i really like the g21

Im an hk 9mm guy, but i really enjoyed your review. 9mm over 45 simply because it is more friendly for the ear drum with out plugs. Once you damage your hearing, there is no comimg back from that. God bless your safety

They're about as loud, the 9mm may even be louder given that standard 115 and 124 gr loads are supersonic.

The other thing is that one can step up to 45 Super, which is closer to 10mm in power and one can still use 45acp. As far as the Golden Saber +P, Remington stopped making it. It was my go to.

I was just thinking about the good ol days when i could walk into wal-mart and get a 200 ct box of 9mm brass for $30...now that same box is $300...if you can find it...i recently picked up a HK45c police trade in, that pistol is great.

I recently watched a Wilson Combat episode 35 video with Messad Ayoob. His favorite 45acp is the G30. Competition shooters were paying to have gunsmiths modify their guns to prevent the breech opening until the projectile clears the barrel. I don't know the terminology is for that, but the claim was more accuracy. Messad stated a little-known secret that the G30 comes standard with this "modification" and he loves it's accuracy and grip. I am having trouble getting info on this, so next step is call Glock. If anyone knows about this please comment to me.

I switch out for smooth triggers on all of my Glocks. As far as trigger pulls go many ills can be solved by adjusting the connector in towards the trigger mechanism more than stock. My 30sf is my winter carry gun with my belief that the larger caliber/hollow point is more reliable through heavy clothing. My regular carry is high capacity Glock 9mm pistols. And of course all calibers are loaded with Federal HSTs.

I know of two after market manufacturers of conversion drop-in barrels to 10mm for around $150. They are for the G30/30sf (not the G30s). I bought the premium 10mm conversion barrel from KKM.
P.S.: That "coppery anti-seize" grease is actually a specific abrasive lube to smooth the slide grooves and break-in of the slide. After approx. 1000 rounds you should clean it out and re-lube as instructed In the Owner's Manual and The Complete Glock Reference Guide, 4th Edition, by Lone Wolf Distributors. Glock proofed this guide and every Glock owner should get one.

Everyone jumps on the 9mm because of 2 major reasons, I think: 1, the capacity. 2, IT'S CHEAPER! That's it! All of this "caliber war" stuff is nonsense! Carry whatever you like-just carry! I carry both the 9mm and the .45ACP however, my favorite is the .45ACP. I carry the HK USP Compact .45s and the HK 45C. I'm looking to snatch up one of these G30s as well. And, as you said, I stock up heavily on my .45ACP rounds more than 9mm because if the SHTF, the 9mm round will be in short supply cause EVERYONE is carrying it. Thanks for the video! 😎

John Browning did extensive research (that isn't done today)before he settled on 45acp. He shot cadavers and live cattle. The hole made by 45acp has 50% more area than a 9mm hole. Tie goes to the larger bore.

Jay I have both gen 4 G30 and current G30S I find little to no difference in either pistol in recoil and accuracy. A plus The 30s fits all my Glock 19 holsters in or out of wsb . G30 i had to buy new holster no biggy lol. They are both very manageable pistols , fun to shoot . Load weight 230 grain to 185 grain bullet runs 100% reliable. Even the lighter frangible ammo runs great with less recoil and no loss of accuracy. Enjoy K

9mm is popular because it is size and weight efficient affordable, plenty capable and faster follow up shots. Love my 9s but im getting a 10 just for the extra heat.

You can easily convert the G30 45acp to 10mm with only a barrel and mag (uses the G20/40 mags) change in one minute. Two guns in one.

I'm looking to buy a couple .45 handguns. I want a full size and something that can be carried. The Glock 30s, sf and gen 4 are the finalist for the carry gun. Full size is down to the Glock 21 gen 4 and the FNX 45 (non tactical). Anyhow, great review. Enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work.

The Faceless Man82 honestly... i love my shield 45. Would have to be one of the more "carryable" 45s... that, and maybe the xds

    • @TheFacelessMan82
      @TheFacelessMan82 6 лет назад

I had a shield 9mm and loved it. Only reason I'm leaning Glock 30 (and most likely the s model) is because I really love the 10+1 and the option to carry a 13 round spare mag. I'd like to get the 30s and the gen 4 21. But I'm also really liking what I'm seeing from the FNX 45. Most likely I end up with all 3 at some point in the not too distant future ;)

I was reading how a doc said he only carried.45acp because he’s seen more of a nasty wound. Compared to other calibers (9mm,40 cal, 357). When he’s seen people hit with a 45ACP.

17 years of law enforcement and military shooting results show 96% fight stoppers in both 40 & 45 calibers. They average 1.2 shots per incident. 9mm wasn't far behind at 91%, but there were many incidences of multiple shots to center mass that did not stop aggression or incapacitate.

Depends on the study. Look up Paul Harrels video on gunfight statistics. He's smarter than me, but he cites how some of those statistics include police suicide. So yeah that would bring the average closer to 1 a lot of the time.
