California SWAT team in Los Angeles carry the Glock 30S they just love it it's also a video on it on RUclips it's a great gun you could get nine rounds and a magazine once it's broken in you could get 10 rounds of 45 ACP ammo not that heavy like a 1911 one of the best Glock guns out there it's a keeper 🇦🇹💯👍
congrats on your new purchase, sir. thats a fine weapon. in my opinion, there is no better well-rounded .45 for carry than the 30s. its semi light weight, has a very concealable size, holds the 10+1 (and will also accept the full size Glock 21 mags), and its a Glock, so it works. i want one so bad, but cannot find one anywhere. they fly off the shelves around here. by the way, that new finish looks great as well. (liked)
I prefer the Chunky Glock 30 because I shoot it better than my G23 due too that fat slide which eats up recoil & makes it a soft shooter even with +p 45 ammo. As far as carry I don't mind it at all. You just have to loosen the belt a notch or 2.
Held a 30S at my LGS and my question is why didnt Glock make the grip length the same as the Glock 19 ? My hand can grip the 19 with all fingers ( barely) and get a good purchase on the pistol. The 30S , for me, leaves something to be desired as far as grip. My little finger cant decide if it wants to hang below the magazine or try to hang on the edge of it. Glock makes a standard, compact, and subcompact model for almost every caliber. Why not for .45 ACP ? Only choices are full size or subcompact. Nothing in between.
I'll take 11 rounds of .45 auto over 16 rounds of 9mm Luger any day, every day. My Glock 27 was my default carry gun, now my default carry gun is a 30S. I love it. (Note: I am neither a 9mm hater nor a model 19 hater, they are fine, I just think .45 is better).

I have the glock 30s as my EDC CCW weapon. I changed the sights to a Truglow and called Glock store in California for the pyramid trigger and for all the internal parts that I had changed. I love my glock 30s.
I bought me one recently and i absolutely love it!! Ive put about 200 rounds thru it so far, and as usual, glock perfection, no hiccups at all. You said it perfectly when you talked about the recoil, itll definitely kick you, but its manageable. Great review Mr Glockman!!
i’m happy for you... but that extra 3.75oz slide weight makes all the difference in smooth recoiling of my G30sf... i added a titanium spring guide to add another 2oz to the front... the thing feels like a slinky... i shoot it better thank my G17. either way... a .45ACP like Federal HST expands to the size of a 12 gage slug... i feel super safe carrying this as my CCW.
Everything has to do with health and age.... believe me. as much as I'd like to hammer with the .45... the .44mag and so on... well age gets to you... ability wanes... middle of the night dexterity is very minimized as well.... and so on. So the 19 wins hands down. besides 9mm advances are a plus plus.
OUTSTANDING video. Thanks brotha !!! The Glock 30s will be my next Purchase. Got my Glock19 stolen out of my trunk and was IN LOVE with the feel smoothness and grip of the gun. I was looking at the Glock 23 in 40. Cal but i didnt like the feel of it. The 30s almost mirrors the 19, but has that BIGASS 45. Round. Oooooo weeee !!! Thanks again for the added info !
If Glock would make a single stack "29S" (10mm) with 10 rnds, I'd get me one. My 29SF is accurate but it's blocky and prints using my OWB holster. Ten rounds is plenty. The 30S makes sense over the 36 with its wider slide and larger mag. If I wanted a 45, the 30S would be my choice easily.
I bought my 30s about 3 months ago, love this gun! Fits my hand perfectly and is a great EDC gun. I thought the recoil was more like a 9mm than a .45 (my thought was the double spring eased it a bit) really easy and enjoyable to shoot. I got the pearce base plates for it, I highly recommend them if you have this gun!
TNGlockman I have a 30S and have been carrying it for years, my favorite EDC . I realize this video is a few years old but if you haven’t done this already, I suggest putting Pearce baseplates on your magazines . It won’t change the capacity but it has a slight hook at the bottom that really gives the gun a better grip ! Enjoy !
Nice. Haven't seen any 22 for months. The 30s has been my EDC since I bought it. Competed with is recently and It's my favorite Glock, for now. Have a great weekend.
Can anyone answer this, I saw in this video the comparison between the two but my question for anyone who can answer, does the 30s literally mimic the G19 Gen 3? I love my Gen 3 G19 and I literally just bought the Gen 3 G30, not SF, last week. My question about the 30s is, is it nearly identical in all aspect, grip, size, holster choices...to the Gen 3 G19...other then caliber? I live in Commifornia and I cannot even go to the local Glock Store to make a comparison. Anyone...?? Is the G30 a good buy? Not a stranger to the .45, carried a 1911 Mil Spec for 12yrs.
James M. I own both , and I think the 30s is a good buy I think the 19 fits the hand just a little better, and is easier to pull out of a holster, but I find myself carrying the 30s more than the 19 , I always carry my 30s with the G21 mag with a sleeve ,to me the 30s is definitely a dam good choice ,and yes you can fit your 19 into a 30s holster and vice versa, it won’t be the best fit but it will work in a pinch
I rented a 30S a while back and fell in love. There's 2 videos of me shooting it on my channel. However my LGS can't get one. They are hard to come by currently. The 30S has the SF (short frame) and the narrower slide of the 36. I think the 30S is what the 30 should have been all along. Sweet shooter, enjoy it!
During you comparisons, did you compare your (timed) accuracy with each? I'm tempted by the 30S but by now I"ve seen enough reviews by established gun mavens who've switched from .45 to 9 once they did comparisons and realized they're faster and more accurate with the 9 over the 45. I noticed you mentioned recoil is more noticeable, but enough to impact your shooting?
Why36 thumbs down? I actually have both of those on my short list, and the video gave me some needed info. Plus the video is nicely made. BTW, for the “9 mm have gotten better crowd”, you can’t beat the laws of physics. Any improvement in bullet design can be carried to a different caliber. I’m amazed by police departments trading in their 40’s to get “improved” 9 mm. You don’t think that those design improvements will carry over to 40 s&w development? For the money spent on replacing everyone’s sidearm, you could buy a lot of training ammo.
357Shakey You should buy both...I own both, and enjoy carrying both of them equally. I started off my early days as a LEO carrying a .45, and then a 9mm. I have a 1911, and love it, but the 30S is a much better carry weapon in a .45. I also have a 92F, but the 19 Gen4 is also a much better carry weapon. Buy both; you won't regret it!
I looked at a Gen. 4 Glock 19. Nice, but it's not really "compact" in my view. The 30S was noticeably smaller. I'll tell you I also looked at a Kimber Pro Carry in 9 mm. I know that there's quite a spread there, but I'm still leaning towards the 30S. BTW - buying both will get me skinned alive!
3/2021: Nice review and subscribed. G30S has been my EDC for three years and love it. The only mods I've made are TruGlo night sights and undercut the trigger guard.
Sorry TNGlockman, I prefer heavy. My G30 sf, with its added weight, really controls muzzle jump, or flip if you will. I'm more on target with it as opposed to the G30s. Changing the factory plastic duel guide rod to a stainless steel GR has also been a great after market ad on. I carried a Glock 21iwb for quite some time, so the G30's heftiness is little bother for me. But to each his own.
Congrats on the 22 ammo. Still have to resort to ordering online to get any here. I am thinking about a Glock 30 later this year and wondering which model to go with. Theres the regular 30, 30S and 30SF. Trying to figure out which I want. Would be nice to find them somewhere so I could see if it fits in my Glock 23 N82 holster. I believe a 19 will fit in it, not sure if there is a 30 model that would fit the same holster.
I checked with N82 and they confirmed my holster will work with the G23 I have now and use daily, the G19, and any of the G30 models. Kind of cool that one holster will work for 3 calibers.
I have a G30SF. I put Pearce Mag Plates on my G30 mags and I purchased three G21 mags and XGRIP sleeves. So, depending on the situtation, I can go with the 10 round or a 13 round mag. My next by is most likely going to be the new G19X.
Hello sir, where I stay I cannot find a glock 30, but I do have a beretta 92 which I conceal carry sometimes. Could you kindly tell me if the grip width of both guns are same and also which has a bigger grip
I never liked glocks til I got a 30s. Love mine, did all the upgrades, ext mag release, ext slide lock, extended takedown, polished Barrel and feed ramp, color filled engraving, I use the 13round glock 21 mag with xgrip extension, punisher ndz backplate truglo laser and light combo, and I flouroed out the front sight dot in blaze orange. Now I just need a beavertail backstrap and a steel guiderod. See my video on here at stripervince1
They are not similar in grip size. On the Glock 19 you can get your three fingers on grip not like on Glock 30s your pinky finger is resting on magazine unlike Glock 19. It’s more like a Glock 26 which your pinky rest on. Magazine.
I'm not that familiar with the XDs in general. I used to own an XD45, but it was just a little too big for me to carry comfortably so I traded it. I'm sure there are videos on here that compare the XD models.
Notice how thin the metal is on the 30S barrel compared to the 19. It is the same thing comparing it to the 30 and 30SF....wonder if the thin barrel means its life is reduced...I would think it would have to be less life.
Cool, I would think Glock would be sure it was plenty durable so I don't think it is something to worry about. GSSF club members can get the 30S at great prices. After first year membership, members get a card (and 1 card per year after that if membership is continued) that allows purchase of 1 Glock at basically wholesale pricing(even a bit lower)! If you are not familiar with program just google "GSSF Glock purchase program" and you will be able to see prices of glocks at member pricing!
My guess would be because 9mm is a NATO round, which has a "hotter" load (almost the equivalent to a +P round). So the barrel on (maybe all) 9mm should be thicker to handle the higher pressures. Also Glock uses a different type of rifling for their .45 caliber guns. Octagon polygonal rifling I believe.
My 30's if fantastic: I would recommend adding talon grips, pearce grip extensions to your mags, and a 3.5 pound ghost connector for greater control, and lastly Trigicon HD sights.
I thought .22 ammo was obsolete....Ha Ha!! Glad you found some...I was in the local Academy Sports Store last week and the sporting goods guy came up to us and asked us if we wanted to buy some .22LR (we bought two 550 rd boxes of Federal bulk ammo). I have not seen any .22LR ammo in stores for a year and a half in my area....good video...tks....
Great video I've got the Glock 30S but on the other side it says SF I'm not sure if they're the same or not but it is my everyday carry. It's absolutely accurate and I think 11 rounds of ammo that big is just fine. Also great video
Cool video. While I'll definitely get a glock as my first gun I'm not sure between the 19 or the 30S. I can tell you I will own both thanks to this video!
Okay cool had to ask. Shot Glock 30 SF not too long ago and I did like it. Recoil was noticeable of course it's .45 but I shot it dead on. It's definitely on my list for CCW. Good video.
Adriana Kuzmikova There is slightly more recoil with the 45acp, but it’s not unpleasant. I always wear hearing protection, so I’m not sure if it’s any louder or not.
TNGlockman how much more recoil - is it like 50% more or 100% more? have you shot 10mm as well - if so how is recoil and loudness with 10mm compared to .45acp? wearing hearing protection during training is ok, but what if you will be forced to use a gun in real situation? I wonder if .45acp, 10mm, .357mag or .44mag will damage hearing. what gun do you usually carry on daily basis - still glock 30 in .45acp?
+Andrew Faint I honestly don't plan on using more than the 10 rounds my 30s has. I rather be shooting with a .45 that will have the stopping power than a 9mm.
+Edwin Blanco - I laugh at people when they start arguing about stopping power this & 9mm isn't powerful enough that, .22 is still #1 killer and look how little / light the round is. Shot placement is #1 don't believe the hype- flava, flav & chuck D 😎
+Edwin Blanco - Bullshit, how many 200lb men have u seen take a mag dump to the chest and laugh it off? My friend 190lbs took one FUK'n richochet off the floor to the lower stomach & died so don't speak on shit u don't kno about! All these internet soldiers hear something from someone else that don't kno shit & pass it on like a virus.
Brandon Cornett It will fit in practically any soft holster, and some of the kydex holsters that have some adjustment (the frame is just slightly thicker than a G19). Hope this helps.
Finally someone made the comparison between the g19 and g30s. Thank you, it was just the video I was looking for, very informative.
+Scott Milne Thanks for watching!

They are not similar in grip size. On the Glock 19 you can get your three fingers on grip not like on Glock 30s your pinky finger is resting on magazine unlike Glock 19. It’s more like a Glock 26 which your pinky rest on. Magazine.
Very nice, thank you.
You also can use your 19 holsters with it
I do like. Great review and comparison.
Thanks, it may become my favorite Glock!
How does 30S compare to the XDS 45?
Not sure, I'm not a real fan of the XDS myself.
besides size what is main difference in XDS and XDM? Do you prefer XDM over XD?
I'm not that familiar with the XDs in general. I used to own an XD45, but it was just a little too big for me to carry comfortably so I traded it. I'm sure there are videos on here that compare the XD models.
I have the Glock 30SF, maybe for two years, is this one much smaller than mine ?
Sam's son I’m pretty sure that they’re all the same size. I’ve had mine for about 4 years now.
From what I have read the 30s is an SF frame with a 36 slide.
That's like comparing a bear 🐻 to a chipmunk 🐿 duh 🙄
Glock Perfection
Notice how thin the metal is on the 30S barrel compared to the 19. It is the same thing comparing it to the 30 and 30SF....wonder if the thin barrel means its life is reduced...I would think it would have to be less life.
I feel like the barrel is thick enough to be strong and durable enough to last a very long time.
You will go broke trying to wear it out.
@@geneschulp5072 haha
That beveling makes the 30s look thinner. I think it's a little wider than the 19/23...
Thanks
Spanish pliss😎
man, you can really tell a difference in the new finish vs the old tenifer finish on the 19.
Tungsten guide rod. Tames the recoil nicely....love mine! Spendy but worth it.
My 30's if fantastic: I would recommend adding talon grips, pearce grip extensions to your mags, and a 3.5 pound ghost connector for greater control, and lastly Trigicon HD sights.
R Antonio ...I like how you think....my 19 has the 3.5 ghost trigger connector....love it
I love the 30S.
Yeah, .22 ammo is a rare find for sure!
Great video I've got the Glock 30S but on the other side it says SF I'm not sure if they're the same or not but it is my everyday carry. It's absolutely accurate and I think 11 rounds of ammo that big is just fine. Also great video
The “S” model stands for slim, I think it’s the slide & the “SF” is the short frame version, lastly the Glock 36 is the single stacked .45
hi, what the difference between 30s and 30sf ? i had a 30sf that i bought used from a friends, is that any difference in barrel length ?
Go Young I’m pretty sure the barrel lengths are the same, but the 30s has a thinner, lighter slide than the 30sf does.
I want a 21 with 30 grip size
You know you can use g21 mags with grip sleeve in a g30
@@davidb8397 I like the barrel length of the 21 and grip of the 30 not other way
Have the 30s and the 17 gen 5mos.
Where is the Glock 21s already Jesus
HEY TNGLOCKMAN DO YOU EVER THINK THERE WILL BE AN AMMO SHORTAGE AGAIN LIKE IT WAS WHEN YOU MADE THIS VIDEO?
SHAWTY RED Man, I hope not!
So I guess everybody's G30s slide sits about 1mm to the rear of the frame...
The Zec mine does
Gr8 video! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Cool video. While I'll definitely get a glock as my first gun I'm not sure between the 19 or the 30S. I can tell you I will own both thanks to this video!
Cameron L. Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
You can also pretty clearly see the Glock 19 has the smallish Gen3 mag release....
Is the 19 a GEN 4 or GEN 3? 30S GEN 4 or GEN 3?
They're both GEN 3s. The 30S is only available in GEN 3 so far...
I did not know that...thank you!
Did you buy this at Tn Gun Country in Clarksville? :) "gun shop with indoor range" - just wonderin!
Derek Pauley No, I bought it at Top Gun Arms in Ethridge, TN.
Okay cool had to ask. Shot Glock 30 SF not too long ago and I did like it. Recoil was noticeable of course it's .45 but I shot it dead on. It's definitely on my list for CCW. Good video.
how much stronger is the recoil from .45acp compared to 9mm? and how much louder is .45acp compared to 9mm?
Volume difference between 9mm and .45 is nonexistant in any real world sense
Which do you carry more frequently?
Fear None But ONE Honestly, neither one. I guess I’ve gotten lazy and now pocket carry a Ruger LCP most of the time.
Excellent video and thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience.
+Gerald West Thanks for watching!
I am originally from pikeville and crossville
+Slytiger Disgruntled Veteran Channel I'm in southern middle Tennessee, along the Alabama state line. Thanks for watching!
+TNGlockman I lived in Chattanooga for 13 years. It's no thing to roll through Georgia and Bama! I'm in El Paso, TX or Mexico now
It does have a hode to it!
Are the back plates for the g30s the same size as g19?
Erick Escamilla I’m not sure, but I don’t think so.
Yes, all glock backplates are the same except the g42 and 43. I just put a punisher 💀 on my 30s
look how many rounds it take to put someone or something down .9mm will take more rounds then the 45 acp
true, but 1 to the head will do the trick.
MyPitsSmash A .22 will not kill easily. A 200 lb guy could literally take a bunch of .22 rounds without going down when he is full of adrenaline.
Great video..Thanks For Sharing !!!
Thanks!
Great vid, sub'd
Great choice 👍🏻
Lot of oil dripping out of that Glock.
I had just put a little CLP on the barrel and slide before I shot it at the range.
Will your 30s fit in your glock 19s holster?
Brandon Cornett Yes, is does fit some of them, but not all.
What other holsters will it fit in in looking at buying an alien gear appendix holster but i don’t know what one to buy
Brandon Cornett It will fit in practically any soft holster, and some of the kydex holsters that have some adjustment (the frame is just slightly thicker than a G19). Hope this helps.
It did help I’ll look into it appreciate it
good Stuff, thanks
gene schulp Thanks for watching!
Beautiful piece of equipment and a very nice comparison video
Thanks
I love my 30s. So much so that I'm selling my Gen 3 Glock 21. (using the $ to buy my Wife a Glock 26 Gen 4)
3 box limit??? 😲
Justin Trinidad Yes. I made this video 4 years ago during the ammo shortage. You could only buy a maximum of three boxes at a time.
Glock fanboy
Best fanboy to be
Wonder if it fits 19 holsters
It will fit into some G19 holsters
Are they making all of them with that new dull finish?
I'm not sure. This is the only one that I've ever seen.
