64 MINUTES THROUGH THE HISTORIC SIDE OF THE VILLAGES
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 авг 2024
- Courtesy of a neighbor, Jerry and Linda joined a group of 12 Dunedin golf carts for a five hour tour up to and through the historic side of The Villages. The Newcomers found new areas and had fun learning about the origin of The Villages. Come along and see some of what they encountered. It is a long video, over an hour. Sorry for the length, but with three camera operating for over 5 hours each, we had to sift through and edit out 14 hours of footage! Those of you that gut it out through this one deserve a medal!
Please ring that bell, like, and subscribe! We'll let you know every time we post a video!
Jerry and Linda bring you information that they hope will enhance your retirement.
The channel is more than just The Villages. It features episodes designed to inspire retirees to make the most of their golden years. Bicycling, kayaking, hiking, golfing, music, travel and other things of interest are featured.
As in all of our videos, the information is not guaranteed as accurate, but as our opinion. Please do your own research when it comes to important matters. We intend it as entertainment only.

Jerry & Linda, I can’t thank you enough for the relaxing video. Watching it Christmas Day 2022. I lost my husband in January and it’s been a really rough year but your video with the beautiful scenery and zen music has let my daughter drift off into a relaxing nap while watching. I sincerely enjoy your videos and appreciate your hard work.❤
So sorry for your loss. Glad you enjoy what we do. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The older section is so much nicer than the new sections, a yard and big trees! Had no idea!
The historic side is right up my alley. Set to retire in 5 yrs. 👍🏾
Same here
I love that everything is so well maintained and looked after.... and no Graffiti.
Hubby and I stayed with you and Linda the whole way! The narration and music was heavenly. Dennis must know the Villages like the back of his hand. Hats off to Dennis! 👏👏👏👏👏Great ride and thank you so much. We truly enjoyed this video. "HUGS TO GIZMO🤗!
😁SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆😁
Great video, sorry to hear about Jerry's father passing. I lost my father at age 16, 45 years ago, but so happy to be here for my wife's and our three sons.
Really liked seeing the Historic Side of The Villages, all the secret alley ways and hearing the history. Your intro music was super!!! Thanks for another great video...no apologies for the length....you know we'll watch !!!
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
This is what I pictured the US to be as a kid in the 90s, nice houses, well kept lawns, im from eu
I am still watching but have taken a break a few times and came back. This is interesting to me.
Loved visiting Spanish Springs when I visited my Dad in Piedmont.
Love these golf cart trips. We had to sell our golf cart because of health issues, so getting to watch others take rides around the Villages is very enjoyable and makes us feel like we were right with you all the way. Now we don’t miss our golf cart so much. Thanks a bunch. Christine and Bill
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
I enjoy taking trips with you, so of course I made it to the end. Jerry, I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. My Condolences to you, Linda and your Family. ❤
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
Wow! I just love the homes in Spanish Springs with the carports, window awnings and shutters. The curb appeal of the homes doesn't involve seeing multiple garage doors first! Everything looks so 60s and 70s...traveling through time in a golf cart! The town square is beautiful - so many shops. The cart trails are magnificent! Thank you so much for the tour! (my hubby & I are considering a move to the Villages so we've been binging your videos - in no particular order LOL!)
Thank you SO much!
I didn’t watch it all in one sitting but I did enjoy the video and I learned a lot. Thank you!
Still watching 💕👏👏 waiting to see if you cross 441 and come up to the newer section of Spanish springs, where we live. We love living in the northern section for multiple reasons but mostly because its more quiet and less traffic in our area. Our home was built in 2001. We purchased in 2019 after our Lifestyle visit in 2018. 💕👏💗
The first time we visited The Villages was back in the early 90’s when only the development north of 441 existed. We were not impressed with the homes so we eliminated The Villages from consideration when we retired in 2007. We retired to Brevard, North Carolina. We decided we wanted to move back to Florida, and visited The Villages in September 2020. We could not believe what we saw! What a change! So we bought our current home in Hillsborough. Now we wish, we had moved here sooner!
We had the same experience, Judith. Back in 1996 or so. Weren't impressed with the homes and weren't ready to play only nine-hole executive type golf courses. But the newer areas are so beautiful and the whole place is just amazing. Too bad we couldn't see into the future back then.
We would love to hear more on history of development of villiages and how it came to be.
I am still with you Jerry & Linda. I watched to the end because I knew about the Villages, but I was raised and always lived in Daytona Beach, so I'm just along for the views.
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
My husband and I did an Open House visit several years ago on the Historic Side.
Don't let the outside fool you. Yes some of the houses do look like double wide mobile homes. When you get inside it is beautiful! Previous owners had completely redone these homes. Upgraded kitchens with stainless steel refrigerator, pull out cabinet drawers, etc. Exceptional lighting fixtures. Beautiful carpeting even great flooring. If you can get a Turn Key house it would be a great find. You can also get site built homes but those would be more expensive but the advantage of no bond might make up that difference. Also I think everything is all electric ....no gas appliances.
“We had a nice time; it was a beautiful day!” I like the voice-over videos because I don’t enjoy the sound of the golf cart. Great video!
What a great video of the historical section. Enjoyed it very much. Thank you!
I’m a “super viewer” of many Villages videos on multiple channels 😊
My wife's parents use to live in Orange Blossom on Kiley Ct. 2 houses from the golf club and pool on the hill. We always loved going there in the summer and winter. All the pools were always great and well maintained. Thank you for taking us on the tour of the old area.
We enjoy all your informative videos and Gizmo is such a cutie, happy 13th birthday.
Thanks again.
My grandparents lived on Kiley Court from 06/1987 - 10/2020.
Love this video. Spent half of just a foot away from my tv. Felt every turn from my front row seat. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’ve seen all your videos but somehow I missed this one from 3 months ago. I watched the entire video and loved it. Thx
Thank you for taking the time to take the trip and share it with us. We appreciate all the pertinent editing, gave us a good feel for that area. We also extend our appreciation to Dennis for the energy he took to take all 12 carts with him “up north”. It was a fun ride. :)
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
WOW nice road trip ,,was waiting for some down time to watch it ,,,thank you so much really enjoyed it !!!!!!!!!!!
It is a relaxed video! I stayed with you the whole time because I have never seen these areas! Thank you for the wonderful music!
What a nice easy listening drive. Lovely.
Still watching and learning about the area. Enjoying.
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
I’m watching this trip. It is very interesting about the Villages. I like your trips around the Villages. I try and watch you on Mondays and Thursday.
So nice of you.
tons of interesting facts: deciduous trees dropping leaves early and/or often. Didn't know this in Spanish Springs. Lived in Gainesville, Florida for two-and-a-half years, but longed for more palm trees. Not as beachy or 'vacationland' Florida there north of you guys. Ocala is similar I guess, south of Gainesville there in horse country. Longing for palm trees..and an agave plant! saw that one on the tour you did in the bungalow or villa neighborhood where the veteran walked across the street and didn't see you coming. Loved that Agave plant on the one lawn. use agave as sweetener all the time.
You are riding through my stomping grounds, I loved the north side because of the maturity of the trees, lakes and landscaping. I will see you in July thanks for the tour.
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
I stayed with your video for whole hour. I will be moving to Lakeland in September. I have lived my life in Oregon and never been to Florida. My daughter and husband purchased a home there so I will join them. I am hoping to find an apartment at Osprey Manor Retirement Home. I love the golf carts! Your virtual ride was fun.
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Just found this video from
Two years ago and I am enjoying it. So I am
A
Super viewer now 😊
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
I know I’m late to the game… this video is now 2 years old, but this is by far my favorite video to watch while I’m stuck in my office working. Very relaxing, and scenery is enjoyable. The music is perfect, and I love exploring the villages and daydreaming about retirement while I’m stuck in the daily grind. See you when we get there!
Thank you Rene. so glad that you enjoyed it.
Beautiful community the old section looks amazing to me! Great narration!
Loved every second of this( as we do every carting video). My parents first bought in the historic side in 2007 & moved to Polo Ridge in 2010. We have very fond memories of those days! Thanks again! Keeps us Villagers hopefuls going on cool, rainy days of April in New Jersey!
Interesting look at Spanish Springs - very un-Villages like compared to where you are. You touched on a point that my wife & I are encountering as we prepare to move to the WNC mountains from CT - finding all those little favorite places that you took a lifetime to find where you lived before. We're noticing more often that we go somewhere and say to ourselves something like "we need to find a bakery that makes bread like this" or a restaurant that can become our new Friday Date Night destination - comfortable, good and not too pricey. Things you take for granted before you suddenly need to find new versions in a new place.
I didn’t realize that I could add a comment until you mentioned it in the video! Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying your videos and tours of the different villages and neighborhoods. I’m not quite sure yet what the difference is between a neighborhood and a village, but my guess would be that within the villages there are different neighborhoods. I am recently retired and in the beginning stages of thinking about a warmer climate for at least part of the year. I have watched many of your videos, and I’m loving it! I especially like the added information and comments that you make. Thank you so much, Jerry and Linda!
What nice things to say. Thank you so much!
I just love these golf cart rides, no matter how many months ago. It's like the Flintstones...thank you! You are a cute couple, and Gizmo the Star.
Still with you. I've visited the villages 3 new years in a row, prior to the pandamic. My sister & -brother-in-law live near you, I think, on Wentworth lane, Brownwood area.
Loved this tour through the Historic side of The Villages. I have done 2 short term rentals on the Historic side. I would not hesitate to buy a home there. No bonds on homes in those Villages. Some of the homes are site built and are less than 6 years old. Thanks Jerry and Linda!
Thank YOU, Laura!
45 minutes in...still here and enjoying the RIDE !
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
Love your peek into the various villages! And the touring videos are great!
Thanks for taking us on this ride with you! I enjoyed seeing the different topography in the northern villages, the larger lots were nice. Spanish Springs town square looks beautiful - I can't wait to see it and all of the others when we come for our lifestyle visit later this month!
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
Enjoying the ride. Thanks. Ron Schettler of Effingham , I’ll. Originally from Princeton, In. Thanks
I am earning my wings...or palm trees today. I'm still here! Thank you Linda, Jerry n Gizmo 👋😄👍
I know what you mean. I had to put a whole bunch of rocks in my pocket to keep from blowing away.
Not seeing children anywhere is different or maybe they just got older. Enjoyable tour. Chesapeake Virginia.
I enjoy you’re trips and always watch them all the way through! Thanks so much!
Thank you Lisa! You are a superviewer! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Enjoyed the tour very much - thank you!
I fell asleep and woke up still on the trip.
😆😅🤣🤣🤣😅😆
Watching the whole thing. I’m ready for the 5 hour version. This was truly relaxing and enjoyable. Enjoyed seeing this area of TV. Thank you for the effort you put into this. Sorry to hear about your fathers passing.
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
Made the whole way through…great video! Like the historic side-completely different vibe and close to the hospital, Spanish Springs Square and all the businesses off of US 27
The "stuff" that hangs down from the Live Oaks is called Spanish Moss. It is a derivitive of the Banana Tree.
Loving this post Newcomers!! We’re in for the long haul- wouldn’t miss it. Thanks so much for the beautiful diversion (at this time in our country & its “growing pains!”) 🙏🇺🇸♥️
PS- the narrative is perfect Jerry & Linda!
AWWW...Thanks, Bev!
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
Stayed throughout the entire tour. Great exposure to all aspects of different villages. Thank you.
sat here and watched and no where near our house by Orange blossom, we are on St Andrews Blvd, hopefully get to meet you soon
We love your golf cart tours. We can’t wait to go on our own when we visit. Thanks for all your great content.
Our pleasure!
Love watching the videos waiting for a winter storm to come in
Thank you for taking us to the Historic side! My parents held their lot for 2 years before building their 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 car garage on Kiley Court. They had a happy retirement and made many new friends, met Mr Schwatz. I even met Mr. Schwartz! My dad, being a real estate man from NW Indiana, had nice conversations with him. I spent a lot of time there - my children loved the OB Country Club pool. There is a brick with my dad's name on it at Veterans Park. Wonderful memories! My parents are interred at North Lake Presbyterian Church so my kids and I still visit often but it's bitter sweet! Again - thank you!
Thank you! Nice memories.
The Villages is truly a beautiful place and thanks for the cart ride. Linda, would you please post your meatloaf recipe as I hear it is quite tasty. I hope yall are having a wonderful Spring and can't wait to see your next video!
Here ya go!
LINDA'S MEATLOAF CANDY
(That's what Jerry calls it😁)
1 1/4 lbs ground beef or chuck
1 medium onion chopped
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Pepper
1 tsp. Worchestershire sauce
1 tsp. Soy sauce
1 Tbsp A-1 steak sauce
1 Tbsp BBQ sauce
1 tsp. mustard
1 egg
1/2 sleeve of Town House crackers or Ritz
TOPPING:
1/3 Cup Ketchup
3 Tbsp brown sugar
Mix all ingredients. ( except topping) in a large bowl.
Mold into a loaf.
Mix ketchup and brown sugar to coat over the top of the loaf. The sauce goes on before putting it in the oven.
Bake in a 1 1/2 qt. baking dish for 1 hour at 350°.
(sometimes I add 1/2 stalk of finely chopped celery and or a packet of dry Lipton onion soup mix).
Let it stand for 10 minutes or so.
Enjoy!😋
Linda
Thanks for the shout out.
FYI your in the Village of Del Mar.
Really enjoyed the historic tour. There is a lot of good value in homes around there
Appreciate the view and tour
You guys are great. I'm at 45:20, because I live in this area. It truly is a Paradise. I have some "online friends" who make fun of the fact that I live in The Villages and wanted to show off a bit. So I referred them to this video.
Thank you, Robert!
Loved the 5 hour historic tour and how knowledgeable our tour guides are...
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the whole video. There’s something about the historic side of TV that’s intriguing to me. Love the neighborhoods, the mature landscaping, the big yards and huge trees. Those little hidden golf cart paths were pretty cool too. (By the way, I would’ve stuck around for the entire 5 hour tour!)
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
Jayne Here from Wisconsin. I like listening to your interesting talks. great video guys.
Still here after 45 minutes and enjoying every second of it.
Thanks Peter!
Hi guys. Thanks for this video. I am researching the villages and this is the first video I have seen that shows the manufactured homes. They look amazing there. If I end up in the villages that is where I will be. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Very nice tour. I kept watching till the end.

We are moving to Silver Lake in 2 months. Really enjoyed the ride-along. See you when we get there!
That is a very convenient area. Hope you love it!
Wow, so far so good.
You touched my heart with this video. We are Canadians who rented in this area for 10 years. Due to health issues we can no longer get insurance to travel down. We drove through that beautiful park by the bridge almost every day. There are no words for how much we miss my uncle and other friends who are permanent residents there. We have such fond memories of The Villages. ❤️ Christine.
Thanks! I watched it all! Yeah! Hope to be there by Spring 2022.
SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
I am still with you Jerry & Linda. I watched to the end because I'm trying to learn about the Villages. Every time I hear about a new village I write it down. This was so much fun. I love to see all the differences in the subdivisions/villages. I hope one day I can meet you two and enjoy a golf cart ride with you. Thank you again for this vlog and all the time you put into it.
Wonderful! You're a SUPERVIEWER! 🏆🏆🏆
Still here and enjoying it

This video is way better than anything on TV. Never apologize for good video.
Aww... Thank you MimiJo!
I hope you’ll take some videos of the Memorial Service on 9/11 at The Villages. I’m a gold medallion viewer because I’ve watched the entire video.
SUPERVIEWER!🏆🏆🏆
How fun!! Thank you for sharing
You know, I thought a lot of things in The Villages reminded me of Michigan, but I figured it was coincidence. I guess not. I lived in the Detroit area in the late 80s and early 90s. Now I know. Thank you. I had to check out the crape Myrtle trees and they are gorgeous. A blue Chinese wisteria popped up. Check it out. It’s absolutely stunning.
Dedicated viewer.....1:04:17. We really enjoy your videos. The Browders from Southwest Virginia....now retired to Chesapeake Bay Country in eastern Virginia.
Our middle son lived in Chesapeake for a while when in the Navy. Beautiful place!
Five hour tour? WOW !!! I'm now 46 minutes into the video but it took me two days so far !! Thanks for what you do !
Hope you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for showing me the history which is great to know I’m actually moving in the older part of the villages which is my backyard is the turtle reservoir or reserve whatever y’all wanna call it so it’s kind of been that sup nerd area so I’m really excited and I’ve been watching it. I’m gold star watcher. I watch y’all all the time. God bless y’all and thank you very much for doing this video.
Thank you so much you are a super viewer!
