Yes! Glad to hear you will only releasing paid patterns moving forward. After watching your videos on your free patterns, I understood that even simple patterns require a lot of work. Those will always be available for newbies dipping their toes into knitting for the first time, but you gotta get paid for your hard work! Can’t wait to see all your future projects.

Great update. Really interesting to hear about where and how the money comes in. I’ve always thought it so generous of you to give away so much free stuff. I’m always happy to pay for a pattern. I absolutely love the idea of being able to design my own sweater. I am currently using Elizabeth Zimmermann’s book to make a sweater for my husband. It starts from my swatch gauge and all the calculations extends from there. Let’s see how it turns out 😉
Looking forward to seeing your plans coming into fruition.

I will forever be grateful for your free content that taught me so much, above all how to design for myself. I have followed the fall bluff tutorial using worsted weight yarn and the results were still amazing because your way of expalining is so thorough and detailed. You deserve all that you've earned and more! I wish you tons of luck this year and bigger earnings! Looking forward to your new content. :)

Thoroughly enjoy your tutorials! Not a newbie, but I always learn a new tip or trick. I wish you all the best going forward, I’ll still watch & look for your patterns! Worsted wt yarn is a great go-to for sweaters. I’ll have to dig out some of the Bulky…in stash, somewhere (eek!)
Not to add to your “to-do” list, but are you considering a newsletter? Pattern updates, classes etc, might be another avenue. I’m on Ravelry & RUclips mostly, rarely FB & not on the rest. But that’s just me. I give you a LOT of credit pursuing sooo many ways to reach people. Agree you should charge for patterns, a ton of work goes into creating, advertising (etc etc) for any given design.
I’ll be happily following you & your patterns !! Thanks for sharing your knitting & I’m looking forward to what comes next!
    Thank you!

I love your tutorials Ashley! As I said before, it was your Winter Bluff Sweater tutorial that got me knitting my first sweater. It is my go-to pattern for sweaters. I plan on making it with DK weight yarn or even fingering weight yarn. I still can't figure out the math and all... but I am definitely going to try. So, thank you so much for teaching me. The video tutorial absolutely helped me with reading the pattern. I think without the video tutorial, I probably would have had a hard time. I am one of those visual learners. Even though you have previously offered the pattern as a free pattern, I would absolutely pay for it as a paid pattern. I'm also glad that you will now be charging for your patterns. Raglan style - no short rows... in lightweight yarns... I'm for it... :-) Spring is just around the corner... Anyway, thank you again for all that you do.

This video was so good! In the future, I’d love if you made a video (or a course) about grading patterns!! I can’t find any information on that portion of designing knits!
Thanks for your transparency, it’s really cool to be able to see how you’ve done & it motivates me to be more consistent!
I’m still not in the RUclips partners program, but I also haven’t been very consistent because life is crazy & I also get discouraged easily because I feel like traction on here has been soooo slow!

This was really interesting and the transparency refreshing. I find most people's reluctance to discuss money details very frustrating. I was a demoralized sweater knitter after an attempt at the Cocoknits method and finally was able to be successful with your Fall Bluff.
I'm not planning to knit a lot with bulky yarn so am looking forward to seeing some patterns (and tutorials I hope) for worsted weight. Also will point out the importance of offering patterns at sites other than Ravelry since I don't have a PayPal account and don't want one. Thanks for doing what you do, and I will keep an eye on you!

This was incredibly helpful! Thank you for taking the time to make such a detailed video about your various income streams. As a songwriter and performer, this gave me a lot of encouragement and ideas about creating content that helps makers and artists approach generating a living wage. When you talk about your RUclips income, is that solely from ads which run before or intermittently during your videos or does it also include income from when people hit the thank you button on that video and contribute that way, too? I am excited to look up your cardigan pattern. Your Fall Bluff pattern is teaching me to knit my first sweater! Thank you! And thank you for your kind and encouraging manner on your videos!

Thanks, this was really interesting! I’m not looking to go into knitting full time, but I do want to publish some of my patterns and make some spare “yarn money.” I published one sweater pattern in October and made about $80! I know it’s not much, but I was super shocked, since I didn’t expect to sell anything 😅 I hope to be a little more disciplined this year! I spent a lot of time last year trying to grow a tik tok account but didn’t end up seeing much success from it. I don’t think my pattern sales were from there but I could be wrong 🤷‍♀️ good luck!

I discovered your IG yesterday through a reel that someone mentioned your pattern, (a hat ) and was surprised it was free! So I went to your feed and ... I already was following you! but I guess for the algorithms I hadn't seen your posts or profile, I see so many awesome knitters on IG but their patterns are paid, I can't afford right now, and then I came to your youtube channel, your tutorials are so clear and beginner friendly. I'm following the raglan sweater, I haven't finished yet, I really think it's ok you start offering paid patterns, you offered so much free content here! I would buy if I could. How do you make money of youtube? Adds? And what about IG? I didn't know you can get paid for reels. I wish you the best for 2023, I hope seeing more content on others yarns like worsted like. I can’t wait to see what’s new for this year as I recently found your channel, but in my personal opinion I find the shorts annoying; I automatically remove them from my feed. Makes sense that I am seeing more shorts from other content providers if they are being compensated but I delete them without watching.

I think today the trend is watching like shorter content, longer videos are ok for detailed tutorials and I try to watch at night when my daughter sleeps but during thr day impossible, personally I like vids that go to the point instead of long intros about... blabla, that's the reason reels & youtube shorts are so watched, and so successful (although I don't know how much IG and youtube pay for them🤔) but I guess people look for content concise and clear.
