Thank you so much Dr. I have hashimotos, and have been on compounded wegovy since October 2023. I’m down 45 pounds. I have been on a lower dose this entire time. It has challenges, but as time goes by it gets easier and yes, your body just runs better. I feel like I finally found the missing piece after 20 years of suffering. I consider it a miracle drug. I hope other people can have this same experience.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I think it is very encouraging for others who are struggling in a similar situation to see your success :)
I’m 3 mins in and wow I was diagnosed at 11 with hashimotos I’m 34 I didn’t show symptoms till I had my son now I’m overweight tired my joints hurt and all the doctors I’ve been to have said is here’s your levthyroxine well check your levels in a few months and send me on my way which has not helped at all thank you for saying this and making me feel less insane
Thank you so much for this case study. This was me after my divorce during the pandemic with Hashimotos. Medical gaslighting with being told by two doctors the my body has just become more efficient, and I should eat less." Bless you for explaining this in detail and making me not feel crazy. Now I know where to start.
Thanks soo much! What an amazing informative approach! I was just diagnosed with hashimotos and had alot of inflammation and struggling with higher blood sugar levels and in the pre-diabetic range despite eating keto and carnivore for 5 years ive gained 20 pounds in the last year I had tried all the things and was still struggling with my digestion and mood was horrible too lots of brain fog low energy a friend told me to try semaglutide and right away my inflammation went down and I lost 10 pounds! I believe it was all inflammation it's allowed me to start working out again and have a ton of energy and I'm soo happy I'm on a low dose and on my 5th week
Try keto instead. Im off my thyroid meds 4 yrs now. After 16 yrs on not too low 30-50 per dag Carrie vitt is helpful w recipes supps etc. & the thyroid -focused ketogirlnutritionist
This was great! My free T3 is 3.0 and TPO is 53. My functional Dr didn’t want to put me on thyroid meds yet. Wondering if they wound make me feel better though 🤔
Thank you doctor. I am a 55 year old with no family history of thyroid issues. Last year my 2 year old, healthy grandson was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease. We were all stressed. Little Jax left Phoenix Children’s with a giant aneurysm on his coronary artery. I started to feel sick, and was diagnosed two months later with chronic Hashimoto’s and under active thyroid. I also have a goiter on the front right side of my neck and swollen lymph nodes on the same side of my neck. My daughter, a pharmacist, agrees with everything you spoke on. Little Jax is on Lovenox injections twice a day (thank goodness his mommy is a pharmacist). I always wonder if Jax and I were exposed to something, since I watch him full time. While Kawasaki is rare, Jax was one of 14 children that were admitted to PCH that week and diagnosed with KD. I am desperate for a new doctor and willing to travel. I will be contacting your office. Again, thank you. I really believe the stress of watching a helpless child put my body into a shock.
I wish this video made me hopeful, but instead it made me hurt for my younger self. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos at 17. Of course I had no idea what it really was or how it worked and being 17, I didn't even get to make decisions about my body/treatment anyways until I turned into a legal adult at 18. The doctor recommended to my parents that I should just have my thyroid removed since I'll have to be on synthetic hormone for the rest of my life anyways. Following his word, I had a full thyroidectomy at 17 and yes, am on synthetic thyroid hormone for the rest of my life. I have struggled desperately and have fallen into some of my deepest depressions related to all the problems that come along without having a thyroid, especially stubborn weight gain. The worst part is, or so I though, is that every discomfort I express has been dismissed due to me being on synthetic hormone. As if synthetic hormone could even come close to the regulation and production a healthy thyroid provides. But now that I've seen this video, I guess that wasn't the worst part. The worst part is that if I had a doctor who cared more and who did more research, I might have not had to have my thyroid removed at all. By the way, that doctor got his license revoked (not because of me) very shortly after my surgery. Don't even get me started on the things that went wrong during and after the surgery by his hands alone. Ugh.
Well I am older and changing the diet did not help with weight gain. GLP-1 is helping with the insulin up and down and my weight. I am hoping my elevated inflammation will be down. I am working out and doing 80 g of protein daily, no gluten or dairy. Staying on .50 for now. Thank you for the insights. Lost 20 lb so far.
Omg!!!! I been searching for hours trying to find a video about Hashi. I have terrible time with my hashi. My PC doc is great he is really helping me trying to loose weight. My injections are on the way. Yay! Btw phetrmine did not work for me. I take NP or pork gland. Actually straight T4 made me gain more weight!! Antibodies was 298. He said lets put you on thyroid medication that is a little more natural. I feel better but I got depressed from life things and my weight ballooned up!!
Leaving a second comment cause wow I just looked at my old labs and half the stuff this woman was tested for I was not it’s crazy because as someone who has been diagnosed since I was a kid to see they only tested my vitamin d tsh and t4 not even my t3 was checked
I’ll start wegovy next week. I have hashimotos. I love fasting specially omad fasting. What do u think about omad fasting while on wegovy? I want heal my body by fasting and wegovy will help reduce my appetite which is a big problem for me right now.
My TPO are over 500 and T4 and T3 we in normal range.. have been to evwry doxtor in my small town and none of them cannot put me on the right dosage to loose my 50 lb ... started taking antidepressants with hope that this will help and now searching for info if Ozempic can compliment and help loose weight. I am 6.1 hight and 220 lb, i look like a rhino. So massive and it is killing me
Thank you for this great information. I have suffered the weight gain for many years with Hashimoto's. I started Ozempic 21 weeks ago with zero weight loss until week 14. I still haven't had great success with only losing 8lbs over the last 8 weeks. It is all paid out of pocket here in Canada and I am not sure how much longer to keep going. I still crave food like crazy so it's not helping the food noise -- but maybe because of the Hashimoto's it does go much slower than others. I'm guessing my question is - should I keep going? Should I switch to Mounjaro? currently at 1mg after titrating up as per Dr's notes.
How frustrating, especially because, at least for me, it is expensive! Curious what dose you are on? I wonder if you just need a higher dose? I started very low and gradually raised the dose. I felt no effect at all when I started on the lower dose and did not get any benefit until the dose had been raised a couple of times. Taking it slowly, I was able to avoid most of the icky side effects. Once I hit the right dose, I lost about 50 lbs over a year. I also stayed at around 1,200-1,300 calories with occasional days where I ate pretty much whatever I wanted, but not often. I also log everything on a free app called Fitness Pal.
Oops! Just saw that you have been titrating up. I still wonder if you should talk to your Dr about a higher dose. I worked my way up to 2mg before I felt like I had a good handle on my appetite. 2.4mg is considered a normal dose though I have not quite needed that much.
Endocrinologists don’t care if you gained weight with Hashimotos Hypothyroidism. They just look at TSH and it’s super annoying. Going to do Zepbound when I’ve saved enough.
This is great info, Dr. Stirrett! I, too, have Hashimoto (diagnosed in 2011), fighting weight gain, hair loss and I am perimenopausal. I started Wegovy 3 weeks ago at the lowest dose, but I cannot say I noticed big changes in weight and appetite. Apprehensive regarding the next level dose. I know you cannot give advice online, but can you share your maximum recommended dose for the brand name Semaglutide you are comfortable with? I have an appointment with a new endocrinologist and HRT expert at the end of September, but would love to also work with you. Do you accept long distance/online patients?
Hey thank you for reaching out! Max dosage is really dependent on size/weight/severity of insulin resistance. I do accept online patients! Happy to chat with you further, you can book free call to see if working together is a good fit :) www.bluewatermednw.com/semaglutide-secrets
Naturopathic Dr. told me I have thyroid issues with biofeedback session. Medical Dr. keeps saying my blood test is fine. I had to push new Dr to give me T3 & T4 test. Waiting on results. If it comes back the same I’m going to be treated by Naturopath. This up and down has been occurring for over 5 years.
I thought you had to be diabetic in order to get semi glue tides prescribed to you by a doctor's care. Is that true I also have hashimoto's and how do I get a prescribed for me do I just talked to a primary care physician

I definitely felt better on Ozempic and lost 25 lbs before my insurance quit covering it. It did make my anxiety worse after a few months.

An interesting story. How large a dose of Wegovy would affect Hashimotos? I am currently on 100ug of Eltrpxin a day.

What if you do not have a thyroid at all? Burned out as a toddler, been on meds for decades.
I have the same problem. Been wondering this too
