    I've been on 1mg of Ozempic for a little bit over a year now. I've managed to lose 120 pounds (from a high of 388, down to 268 pounds). My A1C went from 7.7, down to 5.2. I still want to keep losing, with a goal in mind of 200 pounds. I had to consciously make big changes in the way that I eat, it isn't a magic shot, it doesn't do the hard work for you. It simply makes it easier to stick to the changes that you make.

    • @mint5653
      @mint5653 Месяц назад

      I'm on 1mg as well but how do you deal with the side effects E.g. severe constipation?

    • @AlienAria68
      @AlienAria68 Месяц назад

      @@mint5653 I now drink 72oz of water daily and try to eat a decent amount of fibre. But the truth is that I've had to resort to taking OTC medications. If I don't go for a couple of days, then I'll take a stool softener (docusate sodium), or some magnesium citrate. If I get to four days then I'll take a stronger laxative such as lactulose. It finally seems to be getting better just this week, and I really hope that it continues to improve.

    • @AugustusEnterprise

      Yes drinking plenty of water should help with this. At the very least you need to be drinking 60-80 ounces a day. Also, senna is a great otc option. One or two of those every day should keep things moving. For severe cases, senna with a laxative will definitely get things moving

    Love these videos. Started on Ozempic about a month and a half ago, just got bumped up to 0.5mg, i can definitely tell the changes in my hunger already and being able to get full with whatever, including healthy stuff. But still going through the mindset part, cuz i’m used to eating certain times a day, so sometimes i find myself doing it even though i’m not hungry

      Old habits die hard. It takes time and patience. Hang in there. There is nothing food can give you that a healthy life cannot trump. Sometimes our feelings and memories are not our friend. Having said this, I know we are not machines. There is an ebb and flow. We have a right to enjoy and be comforted by food in moderation. Healthy eating needs to be practical, sustainable and balanced. I hope you find the path.

    • @Cacchiaro
      @Cacchiaro Месяц назад

      Thank you for your sharing. Can I just ask if you can still emotionally eat despite the ozempic and lack of hunger?

    • @ברכהה
      @ברכהה Месяц назад +1

      @Cacchiaro yes. But I keep it down with portion size or I eat much less and more healthy in the following days to balance. Weekends,holidays and special occasions are no guilt zones. Often I am lucky to find healthy and delicious food that answers both my emotional needs and my health requirements, but it takes effort, planning and trial and error. Find the path and be happy and healthy. Specifically I aim for alot of protein. At least twice a day and salad or vegetables daily. Little or low carbs. Whole not processed foods. Fresh or frozen fruits no more then 2 servings a day. The highest quality meat and poultry and vegetables. I shop at a open air farmer's market weekly.I shop for fresh and high quality spices that are a game changer. I meal plan every 2 days. There is always somthing right now thats made fresh and and healthy and delicious in my kitchen .I use avocado or olive oil if i can. Organic and very fresh in date eggs.I eat alot of pickles or fermented vegetables for my gut. For example I eat oats with half a teaspoongood quality honey, cinnamon and milk. Half or a third of a bowl in total. I have steak grilled or fried in strips in an iron pan in Asian seasoning or ketchup, garlic,paprika, white pepper and salt. I try to eat a hard boiled egg or omelet with onions daily. I prepare once a month chickpeas and black beans from scratch, soaking them the night before and simmering them while I clean the house. I then put them in little bags in the freezer. Spanish rice with mostly vegetables and beans and a half cup of rice is delicious. Chili too. Ragu with real chopped meat and vegetables, whole grilled chicken ,vegetable soup with lagumes, are all good ideas. RUclips is full of inspiration. I hope this helps.

    After trying phetrmine for 4-5 months without any success, he recommended compounding meds. Glp-1. Well long story short I did get the medication in the mail from someone I have not met. I do feel a little in the dark. I thank you so much for sharing your expertise for free. I know that I stopped snacking and drinking alcohol. I eat but get full really fast! The nausea comes and goes. Constipation is kinda normal for someone with a low functioning thyroid like myself, but it has not gotten worse. I do keep in touch with the "Doctor" that I had received the medication through weekly updates. My clothes fit better but I through away my scale after having a moment 😂, so I need to replace it. As soon as I get back on the scale I will be excited to update! Fourth shot down next dose .5 Now is the time to seriously change my diet.

    What a great video, Dr!
    I have just started Mounjaro (via an online pharmacy) and I appreciate these tips.
    My reason for this was to use it as a tool to allow a reset of metabolic signals and health, rather than relying on the drug to 'make' me lose weight.
    At just 2.5mg, I can feel how the GLP signalling make a difference to food noise. It has fallen off a bit for week 2 and 3, but I am hoping that just 5mg will be sufficient to help me stick to my lifestyle changes.
    I appreciate the tip regarding exercise. Yes, overtraining does result in adverse effects and something I have been guilty of!

    In Australia ozempic only for T2 diabetes, Wegovy, Zepbound for weight loss. All compounded GPL 1 are banned . Hopefully as a T2 diabetic I can now get a regular and safe supply . This medication has changed my life , in so many ways . Amazing 🐨💗

    • @gablovesplantssydney
      @gablovesplantssydney Месяц назад +1

      There is no Zepbound in Australia. It was never released here. Instead, Mounjaro has been approved for use for Type 2 Diabetics and weight-loss.
      You are correct in that compounding of all GLP1 medications was banned in Australia from October 1 204 due to safety and efficacy reasons.
      Only Ozempic is covered under our national insurer and only for Type 2 Diabetics. If you want to take Mounjaro for diabetes, you have to pay full price.
      There is no coverage for weight-loss In Australia so all people on GLP1s here have to pay full price no matter what drug they take, be it, Saxenda, Ozempic (off label), Wegovy or Mounjaro.
      They are a marvellous class of drugs and have made a difference to millions of lives around the world.
      I will on this medication for life and happily so because for the first time in my life, my body chemistry is balanced and I am “normal”.
      Please do not think this is not going to be a long term drug for many people who go on it for chronic obesity.

    Thank you so much for your video. Saying that it was just a tool to be used to amplify weight loss really resonated with me. I have changed my eating habits and don’t eat anything fatty, with too much sugar, processed food and have even reduced my carbs significantly but nor totally. I have lost 16.6kgs in 16 weeks which I think is sustainable and have still got another 27kgs to go. I’m starting to focus more on my protein intake as I don’t believe that I’m eating enough protein which I know is important. Once I have my nutrition sorted then I will place more value on moving and getting my daily steps increased. My current steps per day are only around 4000 steps a day which I know I have to increase but I’m taking it one week at a time. My question is that I don’t understand what micro dosing entails. I started on 0.25mgs a week for 4 weeks, then 0.50mgs a week for a month and am now on the higher dose or 1 mg a week which is the highest level I think I can go to on Ozempic. Once at my goal weight I will titrate back down the same way I started. However do you recommend that you perhaps take a lower dose if you are still losing weight? My doctor also agrees that Ozembic is not a life time medication so your values are aligned with that. I aldo however have this fear that even my closest of friends will judge me for cheating on my weight loss so there are only 3 people that I have about it and that doesn’t include my best friend: Do you have suggestions in dealing with this and if so please share. All in all you have a well rounded approach which is a refreshing to hear amongst all of the GLP noise. I hope you get to read my essays (apologies for the length of the message) and hope to hear from you in the near future. Thanks again

    In 2019, my endocrinologist prescribed Victosa due to Ozempic with horrible side effects. Once I started losing weight and hit a plateau, he prescribed Ozempic. I went from 260 pounds to 150 pounds. When i went for a follow-up, my A1C was 5.8, and fasting glucose was 98 . I weighed 156 pounds. Instead of praising my glucose and A1c dropping from 114/ 6.4, he said, "You're gaining weight." 😮. I was happy with being 156.
    As time went on, Ozempic was too expensive because I was now on Medicare and in the "donut hole" at a self pay cost of $1000 per syringe ( 3 injections).
    I spoke with my PCP about no longer being on Ozempic. We decided to titrate down , increase activity, and get a better grasp on diet.
    Then,I became very ill with a respiratory infection. I was placed on steroids. I couldn't shake this infection (2 weeks). I went from 155 to 187 within 6 weeks. This was 8 months ago, and I am still fighting with the weight. At the age of 66, I'm at a loss of what to do now. I'm still walking 3 days a week and monitoring my food intake.
    Can you provide any insite? Thank you.

      Great question. It is less about A1c in my opinion and more about fasting insulin. For instance, if you have an A1C of 5.2 and your fasting insulin is high... then you likely have insulin resistance and GLP-1 medication might be a good fit.

      Weight lifting and prioritizing protein are also very important, I agree with you 100%. My point in the video was that although exercise is incredibly important for weight loss, reversing insulin resistance, and overall health... it is usually less important than diet (including protein intake) when it comes to consistent weight loss.

I only took 1 dose of 0.5mg...i really wish my insurance would cover Ozempic, or semaglutide at a lower dose since wegovy lowest is 0.25mg. Instead they want to switch me to zepbound.🤦 they refuse to check my hormone leveks despite me being a female with significantly masculine traits up until now (premenopause) where my body has changed drastically the last 2 years.
