This is another track that really takes me back to my first playthrough of the game. I always looked forward to unlocking new chapters of Rosalina's storybook as the game progresses and her story provided the emotional core of the game for me. It's probably why, despite the fact the SMG 2 may be a better game in terms of gameplay, I prefer the original.
This arrangement starts with a full quote of the theme. Then I work in the 'Sad Girl " theme from Chapter 7 "The Telescope" for a contrasting middle section before returning to the original. I imagine this as a lullaby Rosalina sings to sooth the Lumas to sleep.

How does a song have so much joy and sadness at the same time? SMG has a rare, one-of-a-kind soundtrack that will always make me feel this way
Yeah it’s a totally different atmosphere from other mario games which isn’t easy to describe, this game and his soundtrack is just beautiful

Koji Kondo is a god
His compositions are perfect for every game he composes for.
Jug chug Koji Kondo only composed a select few pieces in SMG. Most of the pieces are actually composed by Mahito Yokota who really pushed to have orchestral music in the game. He really hit it out of the park with his work.
Ender 0703 if I recall Kondo only composed 2 pieces for the game. Rosalina’s Observatory Music is one and I’m not sure of the other. He’s still a legend nonetheless.
"But can't!" She cried.
"I can't... because she's sleeping underneath the tree at the bottom of the hill," she collapsed into a pool of tears. The lumas didn't know what to do.
She remembered having picnics with her mother on that hill on bright and windy days...
And...
"I want to go home! I want to go home right now!"
The girl burst into tears, and the Lumas didn't know what to do.
"I want to go home! I want to go back to my house by the hill! I want to see my mother!"
The girl was shouting now, her face wet with tears.
"But I know she's not there! I knew it all along that she wasn't out there in the sky! Because...because..."
"She's sleeping under the tree on the hill!"
The girl's cries echoed through the stars, and a hush fell over the area.

I’ve never played this but just hearing the start makes me tear up
To be fair most of us played this as kids and she never directly says she’s dead she just says she’s still laying under the tree, and me being a dumb kid didn’t get that. I just replayed through it again recently and finally understood

This is literally the only song I have ever listened to that actually made me cry. It's just so slow and emotional. I remember renting this from Blockbuster, and then they all shut down 2 days after I rented the game. They let me keep the game for free.

Rosalina's Storybook was my favorite thing 'lore-wise' for the entire Mario Galaxy series. The bit where she talks about her mother "sleeping under the tree" always gets me. I hope you enjoy this soothing take on the theme.

Jonathan Morris thx man. The middle section was based off of the ‘sad girl’ theme that plays in chapter 7 of the storybook. Thought it be perfect to ad a bit of contrast.

I’m really stressed out and have been in this state for a couple days now, but SMG’s soundtrack always calms me down. I am reliving the times when I could play this beautiful game all day without worrying about tomorrow. This track is bittersweet to me, since it’s gorgeous but it makes me want to turn back time to a much better phase of my life. I can’t sleep, and then this popped up in my recommendation :) you are very talented.

This bring back memories, it was probably my favourite track from the game, I even learned how to play it on piano. I loved it so much that i would repeat Rosalina ´s book many times until I feel it’s enough, this cover is for me the best version on piano on RUclips, the way you modified it makes it so emotional, majestic and just... beautiful.

Circus Baby I’m 13, got it at like 6 and I believe it’s caused me to not only love orchestral music but actually made 3D games easier for me because I can see that third dimension so easily and intrinsically.
