There is NOTHING John cannot do! I feel so privileged to be an Aussie who saw John live in his younger days at a pub in Frankston. And then have been blessed to listen to this man over my lifetime. Unbelievable talent!
Looking good for 66 CV . This did shock me as to how great a rendition it was. I’ve known of him since I was 17 , I’m now 70 and I’m realising just how great his voice was. I do hope he gets it back after his surgery last year. They say he is singing around the house so I’m hopeful. Just three years ago he was singing his most popular songs in the same key as he did in his twenties. Unheard of with a normal voice. Thanks for finding this gem, it was priceless.
Twice I know of that John sings in different languages. The Spanish duet, Granada, with Anthony Warlow from the Main Event concert. Anthony Warlow is Aussie opera royalty (well known here as the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera). And then there's this gem I've spent all morning hunting for 😄 search for John Farnham - German Folk Song LIVE.
💯 right about John being a household name globally. The world missed out, but with people like you reacting to him, more people around the world get to discover him. If social media was around during his prime, the whole world WOULD know who John Farnham is.
Hes still alive. Get him a grammy for us. We would love to see him getting such international recognition for what he has given to us Aussies for the last 55 years and now the world is recognising his talent. Its never too late 🥰
Hi theres one of my favourite, for once in my life love it old one but good ,lucille another good one and Johns you will never walk alone that John sung at carols by candle light its amazing .he is totally amazing .love your reveiws .xx
John did go stateside in the 70s before signing up with Glen Wheatley. It's reported that the agent didn't know what to do with him. So, he put him in a side lounge at a casino and billed him as "Jack Phantom"... imagine how demoralizing that would have been. While over there, Glen invited John to an LRB concert and after returning to Australia, John was determined to give it one more shot. He signed with Glen who promised him, as a mate, he would never have to work on a stage if it wasn't a packed house. John did an album and then with trouble occurring within LRB, he was asked to front the band, which he did for a few years, but he was still compromised, simple singing other people's hits, back home he was broke after having picked up LRB historical album debts.1983, he left LRB to concentrate on being solo. He recorded the Whispering Jack album & You're the Voice single, showing everyone once again just what he was capable of. It launched John and his voice was back up to the top, he packed them in decade after decade. John was forever grateful to Aussies for giving him another chance. Thank you to Glen for backing his friend and this incredible talent and to John for not giving up.💞 PS, as a side note, John and Glen never had a written contract, it was just verbal, one mate to another.
I love these archive gems of John. His pristine voice, such passion and soul, the clarity is perfect. John did sing in another language, Italian I think?, in his performance with Australian opera singer “Anthony Warlow”. Awesome content, anything from John is bound to be awesome.
Recently a documentary came out about John's career and what happened to stop his career taking off overseas. The world's loss, but he is adored in Australia.
I love that you love John. He is without question an incredible singer and songwriter. I saw. John first when I was about 15 yrs old, and I think he was only a couple of years older. I have been a devoted fan ever since
Great reaction thank you, to phenomenal Aussie treasure, John Farnham! You said it, John can sing anything!... I've heard him singing some opera in German! Have you listened to 'Grenada -elevated to great heights' with Anthony Warlow? Also, have you seen his movie yet: 'John Farnham- Finding the Voice'?
I have heard and seen John since his first song was released he is such a consummate performer he can sing anything blues pop rock Broadway musicals i believe there is nothing he could not sing that would not be as good if not better than the original version and then he is a song writer aswell John is the complete package a total entertainer do some home work on John pick any live preformance you will never be disappointed cheers from OZ
Great reaction to John, again, CV! Two of my favourites by John are, I've been so lonely for so long, which has to be heard to be believed, and I can't get next to you. I think you can only find audio for them both, here on RUclips, unfortunately. Others I love and are on my John Farnham playlist, are, All our sons and daughters, See the banners fall, The time has come, Infatuation, Don't blame me (when he was with the Little River Band), I feel fine, That driving beat, The last time, Let me out.
John Farnham sings Old MacDonald Had a Farm. It’s on RUclips, only had one review I’ve found - it’s hysterical 😂 There’s probably many songs you’ve never heard John sing. I have a gigantic playlist of John’s songs, as I belong to a Farnham group, and post what I find. Some I’d never heard before.
John can sing anything!!! Yes he did sing in Spanish for his duet with Anthony Warlow and Aussie classical singer doing Granada ( light opera) for the show The Main Event.... Yes John sings opera lol. I think I saw someone say he's sung a song in German too. He performed to over 100 thousand fans in Germany with You're The Voice. Now that is a video worth seeing too. Love your reactions my friend as always... Also have you done his final performance of "Gethsemane' from Jesus Christ Super Stare, musical?
And all in the days before auto-tune! Remember those days? The days where if you got up on stage and couldn't stay in tune the audience'd throw stuff at you! And shout; ' GET OOORFF!" Such a young, fresh faced John, with cute pageboy cut, standing there looking like your average one-hit wonder pop star, and then he opens his mouth - and does THIS ! He always was The Real Deal 'our John! and not a single singing lesson, just opened his throat and out came a G.O.A.T ! { Hi from Tasmania 😄}
You should have a listen to a 50 year old John Farnham doing a rendition of an eleven year old Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five's 'Who's loving you?' It was recorded for his 50th birthday 'get together' and features Australian 'boy band', Human Nature. It's pretty impressive. And speaking of Georgia, there's a version of John doing John Lennon's 'Imagine' with Ray Charles too, THAT is amazing.
I have heard him do Georgia before, it was in his youth and b&w, but not seen this one before. He did a rendition of simon and Garfunkel's, bridge over troubled water, around the same time. Some of his old stuff, he tries to ignore, for good reasons, for him, it's still great stuff, but hey the man's been singing so long, it means there is so much, even aussies haven't heard it all. Dr Kap does very well, letting us know. Recently someone at channel 7, probed in the archives. They found a lot, that was not used in years, they are calling them the lost tapes. This could very well be one of them. I'm just glad someone thought of looking to find them. He did the swing style on hey, hey one time that i saw, on you-tube. That may have been while the brassteds, 3 brass instrument players, from Sydney, were playing with his band
Try John singing a song he wrote called It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time. John asked some Australian comedians to join in on the video for this song and it is so funny.
This was probably on a TV show, in the period when John was struggling to be taken seriously as a legitimate singer. Believe it or not, to many people he was just a teenage pop idol. It took Whispering Jack to finally establish his credentials and he hasn't looked back since. I have always loved the way he interprets the songs he sings, and of course his voice !!!!
Great reaction as usual 😊 I suppose John can sing anything, I just recently watched a video of him singing Old MacDonald Had A Farm, That was very funny well worth a watch 😂
There is a concert, John isn't part of it. It's a memorial concert for a songwriter from a band called Stars The Andrew Durrant Memorial Concert It showcases some of Australia's best rock artists of the day. Lobby Loyd and the coloured balls Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs. A few Australian bands and artists for you to listen to.
😂😂😂 I'm pretty sure there were a couple of people who suggested this in the comments of your reaction to Bridge Over Troubled Water. Fun fact about this performance, I believe it was the first time David Hirschfelder on keys played with him and his reaction was the same as yours - wow this guy could sing anything he wants. For background David later joined LRB and then went with John into his solo career and was a huge part of his musical direction for his 3 most successful albums. Suggestions - have you listened to LRB Reminiscing? There's a 1983 remastered live version on RUclips that is very good. And also you have to save this one up for xmas if you're into xmas - LRB Silent Night at carols by candlelight. Some other suggestions: Reasons, We're No Angels. There's also an amazing performance of Who's Loving You with Human Nature.
Love our JF, have you reacted to a young John singing Bridge over troubled Water and also Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Super Star? John is my second favourite singer/performer of all time behind the great man himself Elvis. Also love, love, love Dan Vasc. Most of us Aussies can’t believe that John didn’t become an international star.
THanks for this, didn't know about it. You're right, he can sing anything.. He did sing in Spanish with Anthony Warlow, doing Grenada. Not sure if you've seen that one, it's lovely (of course). Also, I don't think you've reacted to John singing Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar - it will blow your mind. Also, you're 66??? No way
John regularly appeared on TV talk shows and variety shows. He was always in top demand in Australia. He should be in a Worldwide Music Hall of Fame.
There is NOTHING John cannot do! I feel so privileged to be an Aussie who saw John live in his younger days at a pub in Frankston. And then have been blessed to listen to this man over my lifetime. Unbelievable talent!
JF could sing the phonebook to either make you smile or cry. He is that talented.
THE VOICE!!!!!

These were the days when John still had his pretty voice. His voice developed into so much more as he matured.
Yeah. Well developed. He’s is the GOAT.
John Farnham simply is a miracle, a presious gift for all human beeings 🙏🏻❤️

Pop, rock, opera, blues, jazz, r&b and contemporary, John is a master of all
And yes he sung in Spanish in the Granada comedy/opera performance with Anthony Warlow. 😂🎉
Always kills it. 110%. A master class.Thank you for your reactions ❤❤❤

Yes, Lucille is so much fun!

Love him. Never heard this♥Thx You.
John is just Amazing!!!
You are correct. The best.
I think you'll like John singing ( I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS) with Laura Branigan . Great duet.

You might be surprised to hear the audio only of 'Black Dog" - he only uses it for a Sound Check !

He sings opera with Anthony Warlow in the main event Granada

John did sing one song in German its only a short song you will find in on here "John Farnham - German Folk Song LIVE"
Try John singing a song he wrote called It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time. John asked some Australian comedians to join in on the video for this song and it is so funny.

John Farnham did an opera duet with our Aussie Anthony Warlow is Spanish.
Very young then and yes it's just cold TV show .

Most of us Aussies can’t believe that John didn’t become an international star.
He was barely 20 yrs old in this.....and already all that soul
That was when no record company in Australia or America would sign him. They said no one would want to listen to him. They were so wrong.
He jokes about how he forgets lyrics andchis band say he's been singing in Swahili again 😂😂
Have you reacted to John singing Long Tall Sally yet CV?
Nope. He’s the GOAT. LOL
Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog! 😁

Check out John with Tom Jones on hey hey its Saturday for an amazing unrehearsed collaboration of my Yiddish mama
