Forget to mention number one reason for premature turbo failure is leak in boost pressure that's why it's recommended to pressure test cac and hoses twice a year.
i had turbo oil leak i went shop they said Ooh it is bad turbo we have to change i said ok they put new one after test 20 miles driving the oil leaking again thy change 3turbowith in 2days now am using last one stil leaking what i do evry 5000 miles i clean air cooler also change crankcase and air filter
cummins gave me quote for turbo $9000 wtf this people are literally reckeetering us. where can i buy rebuild cummins isx 15 local shops not dealers ? thanks!
Sorry to hear that dealers rip you off. Last time I bought turbo from cummins cost me 6000 for reman! You can try yiyitos turbos in georgia they rebuild turbos . It will cost you arround 2000-3000
Dam dealers they get their money one way or the other it’s only $2,400 turbo power and $670 for actuator. Dealer doubles prices on everything and it’s more warranty buying from turbopower. Com there located in elk grove, Il
Dan Mike did your turbo explode or just leaking? also leaking on cold side or exhaust side? i have 4 to 5 freinds who keeo on driving with leaking turbos. as long as they dont explode. keep your air filter clean and crankcase filter clean. what year is your truck?
is it normal on cumins isx turbo leaks oil to exhaust? does it goes. to dpf filter ? if my truck idles for minutes it white smokes during shifting gears then goes away what can be my problem
Maz Transport white smoke is because of interuptted regen. when u driving over 55mph the regen starts and if you go below certain speed like you hit a uphill and down shift your gears, the regen stops. and the excess deisel that is already dispatched for the regen burns and causes white smoke, its normal.

Yes there are places that rebuild turbos and its way cheapier than dealer.

You shouldn't have changed the turbo. I have been thru 5 and 6th one leaking too after 2 months. I have ran it for 2 yrs now leaking small amounts.

Dan Mike change that part as well (actuator). and get it calibrated from cummins. also make sure the oil return line from turbo is not clogged.
Maz Transport yes it does go to dpf but its not as bad. regen cleans all that.
