      If the oil coming from manifold its valve seals for sure. Did they put new cylinder head? Because it should not be with freshly rebuild engine

      I got them off the ebay. Bluepoint valve stem pliers. Dont buy cheap chineese pliers, cause need alot of force to get old seals.

      @@bb-ob5cc if valve stem seals bad you would notice on exhaust manifold ports leaking. But no oil coming from turbo and exhaust manifold means your piston rings worn out. It suppise to burn 1qt to half gallon in 20,000miles thats normal.
      Putting oil every 4000miles is serious issue. I would run that truck till you start putting oil every day like every 500-1000miles. And then rebuild your engine. How many miles you have on engine?

    Anyone one done a 71 series Detroit without pulling the head? I don't wanna drop the valve into the cylinder. I got a valve only hanging in by half a collet

    • @simonsays6924
      @simonsays6924  6 лет назад

      This was done also not pulling the head. You need to bar engine at cylinder top dead center and then special tool to compress the springs.

    • @chrismcphillips7193
      @chrismcphillips7193 6 лет назад

      Hi Simon Says thanks for the reply. I'm just concerned it there is enough minimal clearance between the piston and valves on a 8v71 Detroit diesel at tdc . As I don't want to drop the valve in too far and not be able to get the collet on
