Less human, more being. Keep being. I love you. - Кино
I am trans FTM and sometimes stare at myself thinking that it's impossible for me to be an actual man, but when I see you being happy for being who you are I just... feel stronger. Thanks for that
same
When/if (up to you) you get on T, the changes after a year of it will do things to you. you'll go through all of the stages of male puberty. Including the COD Ghosts microphone-screaming stage. Welcome to our cringefest of puberty, man ;). Transition isn't far away, it's all about mindset. Keep your head up and be the man you want to be. Don't care what others say and just be you, dude.
Cameron Stibbs Thanks, random person on the internet (xD), I am used to see mean people answering on YT and you made me feel kinda good :'v
Hey all! Just a quick suggestion: GoodRx is an app you can download on your phone and it will give you coupons for prescriptions, including testosterone. You bring it to the pharmacy and show them and they should match it no problem. I go to a CVS in Massachusetts and before I got on trans-inclusive insurance, I was able to get a 10mL vial for $44 rather than the $118. I definitely suggest the CVS pharmacies that are inside of Target stores. The pharmacist at my store would do anything to help his customers out.
I find this video amazing because I just started T today and I almost had to pay full price for my vial also. But the lady put it under a coupon and saved me a bunch.
Hey Sky, I'm so proud you for sticking up for yourself i don't like fighting either but when these situations gets hairy we have to bite the bullet and say "hey you know what that's not right!" Here in Scotland we are entitled to free scripts for all meds, So i get my meds and T for nothing as well as my surgeries I'm so very grateful for this fact. take care and be well Sky.
Hey Sky, I'm a non binary trans guy, and this is really what I needed to push me to call the endocrinologist to set up an appointment tomorrow. Thank you so much. You really do help us who need that push in our transition. I love you dude. Keep being proud and inspiring.
good luck charlie! you got this!
congrats! :3
tf are you non binary or a trans guy..?
ayden vaughn both
ayden vaughn Transmaculine is a better word.
this video alleviated a lot of stress i've been having lately about testosterone prices, thank you for taking the time to make this video!
If you are paying out of pocket shop around. My local CVS wanted to charge the same. But Kroger pharmacy was about $70.
CVS is overcharging. I have no insurance, pay out of pocket for a 10ml vial of T, and CVS tried to charge the same price. I switched to Kroger pharmacy and only pay $70. It is still expensive, but less so. My advice for anyone paying out of pocket is to check the cost at several local pharmacies.
Same thing happened to me with CVS and my insurance! Definitely had a jaw-drop moment when I saw that pre-insurance price!! :O
I have depression and anxiety, and my insurance just randomly stopped covering one of the prescriptions that I take for them one month. Thankfully I can afford it (sort of) and am getting off of it soon (hopefully) but when you were telling this story I was so worried that your insurance stopped covering your testosterone. I'm glad that they are still covering it and that you were able to get your medical stuff taken care of!!
This is really nice to know, thankyou for sharing
You are so adorable! All the best with everything !! :)
I am a bit late watching this video, but I started t the day this was uploaded!! Thought that was cool. I had pharmacy issues, but that was because of my insurance and my birthname vs my preffered name.
Man, I'm so into you!
Glad you spoke up for yourself and saved that money!
I switched last year to androgel instead of injections, it ended up being cheaper because of how my insurance was calculating the copay. Plus no more weekly needle anxiety issues!
Before I switched, several pharmacies started refusing to give me a 10ml vial because my dose was so small. They said it's dangerous to use the same vial for so long (mine would last around 9 months). But only other size was a 1ml bottle that didn't quite last a month. Have you had any issues with getting the 10ml vial or do you bypass that by having the higher dose from your doctor?
Hi sky! Ive followed you since i can remeber you were the first video i saw on ftm and i just love eberyone of your videos. I just recently started my transition ftm and well i dont see any videos on tipa for taking care of acne. If so could you kindly point in the direction but if not id love to hear how you take care of it. Also, whwn you started you didnt take 100mlg per shot you did leas than that?
Good for you for speaking up. I am going bald from T or at least I believe I will be bald since I've lost 75% of my hair on top in less than 2 years (it was so thick that it had to be thinned every haircut). I looked into the drug you were taking, but it blocks DHT which creates all of the other changes I want. For example I want my beard to come in and get max growth down stairs. Are you worried about blocking the other effects of DHT? Maybe because you've been on T for 8 years, you are in a different situation than I am. Just curious about how the med worked for you and what changes you saw stop while you were on it.
Hey dude you live in mass right? I do too. I had big issues with cvs pharmacy in terms of treating me properly and using right pronouns and name. I felt like they were hella transphobic so I switched to Fenway Health's pharmacy and they're amazing. So glad you got your copay down to 10 bucks that's awesome!
Hey sky man. If you don't mind me asking, where are you from, like what state, and what insurance do you have that covers T. thanks :)
Question, how did your singing voice get affected by T? I know that your voice gets lower and that your accuracy for notes shouldn't change because that comes from the ear, but did your voice get weaker? Can that be an effect? I've always had a great singing voice and I'm debating
what insurances cover testosterone?? i'm still a far way from getting to that point sadly but, i just was curious for the future?
what were you taking to prevent balding again and where can i get that? IT grew your hair back too?
In the state of Kentucky pharmacies will not give you the 10 mg vials anymore despite the doctor writing it for 10 mg. They want to give you the tiny 1 mg. I have to pay a $10 copay every month instead of once every 5 months at that point i'm nearly paying the uninsured cost for My T. I switched to the much more expensive androgel and pay the $10 a month for it instead. I have a lot more energy and don't have the ups and downs of the injections, my acne finally cleared up (7 yrs on T).
that's fantastic! a friend of mine just switched to gel as well. i may consider it in the future, but i am unreliable on a day to day basis :/ hmmm
Hi everyone! Does anyone know if Priority Partners covers testosterone for FtM?
Hey man, love your videos. Just curious, and sure you've gotten this before....but have you considered trying Minoxidil? It's just that I know a lot of guys both trans and cis that use it to speed up or start growth and it works fantastically without even becoming reliant on it like rumors say. Sorry if this hits a sore spot or anything, wasnt trying to be rude, just figured id ask or at least put some info out there for you :)
no this is so great! my friend reed is doing it now consistently and i just ordered some myself :) i plan to update a bit about it as well!!
in canada trsnitioning is fully covered dont have to pay a dime
So glad I live in the U.K. Free health care😁
same
I'm having insurance issues with mine. It's government insurance so it pays for my entire prescription BUT they don't fill my entire 10ml vial. And i'm not allowed to refill it until 140 days after. So i'm always almost 2 weeks short of shots. I take .5ml weekly.
I had a similar experience! My doctor ended up prescribing me a higher amount of T so that they had to give me more to cover my doses (which stayed the same, even though the prescription was for higher) maybe that could help?
mine is like $150 no insurance ugh it hurts. Also mine ran out 2 months early somehow - i think the pharmacy shorted me
I haven't started my transition yet, but do you need to take something to prevent from balding or does it just depend on the person?!
If you want to live like a male balding comes with it, depending on your genetics. If your father is balding chances are you would too, even though your testosterone levels would most likely be kept at the lower end of what is average for a typical male.
Look at your maternal grandfather, that will give you a good idea of what may happen as far as male pattern baldness. There is a drug that can prevent the T from touching your scalp, but it is hard on the liver. Once on T if you start to bald, find a salon that sells Redkin products and get Ceraphil shampoo and conditioner. As long as it is used every day one will keep what they have. My two best friends are hair dressers.
How long do you have to inject yourself with testosterone?
Hiya can I ask why they give out finasteride when I thought it was a testosterone blocker?
finasteride blocks testosterone's conversion to DHT (another form of testosterone.) it doesn't block T in general. obviously my voice still dropped even while taking a DHT blocker, my T levels are in the higher range of average.. everything is totally fine! :)
My wife tells me it's a lower dosage for hair loss compared to transitioning, she's on spironolactone 😊
what is your insurance plan?
Low key, you look hella fly. Just thought I'd let you know
Not to be weird dude but what state do you live in?
Zax Riposte massachusetts
OMG, just submitted
RideAid never gives me the right amount. I recently switched to Walgreens, so hopefully it'll work or I'll have to go to CVS. My doctor perscribed me more than I need so that they'll give me enough to last a few months. My insurance thankfully covers my T as well
that's exactly what my doctor did too! i hope it works for you!!
skylarkeleven Thank you! I'm glad your insurance covers the T. It can be hard without it! Also, I hope you do another event in Massachusetts because that's where I'm from as well and I'd love to meet you sometime 😊
heeeey congraaaat
if you're uninsured and can't afford $118+ I highly recommend downloading the good rx app, it brings it down to $40 for me
Soon just so you're aware, you left you prescription Rx code, as well as the phone number for that pharmacy, which you can find the exact pharmacy with. Idk how much info you can get from that or if folx could mess with you, but I'd maybe get that out of the video?
I am extremely fortunate to get my Testorone and surgery for free, I could not afford it otherwise if I paid privately. >.
Your so gorgeous ❤️️😍
dude go get a body scrub glove! it works way better than a loofah especially for trans guys that have the hair pushing out! believe me your skin will feel 10x better after a couple weeks :)
Do you think Gov insurance like Medicaid would cover my Testosterone?
I live in Alabama and am on medicaid and it said that androgens (all forms-which includes T) is covered!!! Best bet is to look under their preferred medicine coverage. They had mine there under the therapeutic medications!
A one month supply for me is $167 because my insurance doesn't cover it at all. I think the least expensive I've ever had it is $84.
download goodRx they have really nice coupons that cover T a good bit.
My other problem is that my dr will only prescribe it to me in three 1 ml bottles (which means what's supposed to be a month's supply rarely lasts a month). just looked up the price on good rx and i can get it for 35..... thanks guys!!!
OMG you are so handsome 😍
What insurance do you have?
My T costs $90.00 with my insurance..
Thanks...
im still trying to convince my parents to let me go on it they think it just makes you mad...idk why. can you make or tell me if you have a video on the effects of testosterone.
also love your videos your so positive its nice
can you take testosterone as a pill? sorry forgot to ask
+FriutAngel X T comes in injection, gels, patches, they can stick it right under your skin too, I think those are called pellets. I forgot. I'm sure they have pills as well. but I'm not 100%.
thank you, i really want to go on T but I'm petrified of needles
Sorry, but T is too hard on the liver to take in pill form. Most trans men take it in the form of a shot. There is a gel but there are downsides. This includes cost. But I know a cis man on the gel who says it stings and the precautions to avoid harming the women in his house makes it not worth it. Upper Case Chase also did a video on it. How T effects a person will be different in each case. I was afraid of becoming the hulk, angry all the time. It didn't happen. A few weeks after starting T I realized that it felt like a wet blanket had been lifted from my shoulders. I feel like I have come out of a years long fog. I'm not happier. I just feel more right. And the people around me say I'm actually calmer.
My insurance covers my estrogen and testosterone blockers completely thankfully.
Mean Plastic what insurance do you have
in Brazil ftm trans have to pay R$300 for the best T. very sad :(
Patrick P. Figueiredo In Argentina its expensive too
if you stop taking the hormones, are you turning back to a girl? losing your facial hair? if you are lost in a remote island, what would happened to you physically wise?
Some effects will be reverse but some will stick. So you'll still have a deep voice but your body fat will shift back to the way it was before
i wouldn't turn back to a girl or lose any facial hair. my changes would stay the same - pretty much i'd stay the same - because i had a hysterectomy. if i stopped taking hormones now, my body would eventually shut down due to lack of hormone production. literally, if i stopped taking T, i would die eventually. not immediately, but from that alone, my organs would fail on a remote island. if i hadn't had a hysterectomy and still produced estrogen, slowly i'd have my body fat shift back to hips, i'd start periods again after some time (potentially,) and i'd experience the similar mental fluctuations that estrogen gave me before. and i wouldn't die. but because i'm 25 without the ability to produce sufficient hormones, that's why it would be an issue lol!
skylarkeleven Wow I never knew that
What's a Luffa?
How did you get on T?
He got on T through a prescription from an endocrinologist.
In some cases a general practitioner who is trained to handled to HRT and run the blood work can start and manage FTM HRT. I have a wonderful doctor in Nashville, TN who takes care of trans clients at affordable rates because he knew there was a need. Many of his clients either have no insurance or their insurance does not cover transition. The endocrinologist at Vanderbilt is super expensive and not very trans friendly. Many Planned Parenthoods offer services for the blood work and doctors appointment to get on T. And I have heard good things about them.
Why is that not covered by Medicare or another kind of health insurance? Take the streets to make it posible.
it is covered by some insurance. insurance is privatized in america and it makes it absolutely awful to find information.
holy shit i didn't know testosterone can be that cheap
hell yeah man !!!!!
like if i get a job, i can probably pay for my own gender therapy and hormones!
It's too bad the surgeries cost a fortune >
most surgeries can be covered. and i currently work at a job where you are immediately eligible for health care (even part time hours - even just 10 hours a week working - makes you eligible) that covers all trans related surgeries. honestly - i would have quit my job to work at this job had i known they covered surgery. it's worth it for even just 6-12 months of life, to not have to pay $12,000. also, this job only requires a high school diploma, so there aren't many barriers to it!
It can be done, it can get better. It may be hard, but not impossible. I found a great general practitioner in Nashville Tn that is trained in HRT. I see him every six months for blood work and a check up. It costs $150. My T is about $70 every five months. I make it work on a min wage salary. Best of luck of luck to you.
And many Planned Parenthoods offer HRT services at affordable rates. You may want to look into them. I know someone who uses the one in Knoxville and says good things about them.
Your hair is groin so fast bro.
Y uno acá hablando español y un 70% of english dammed 😏
You should go for a military haircut again suits u
without Insurance here in my part of canada, it's 68 dollars a month. Left me broke for so long till I got it covered fully.
first
I'm sorry
u didnt get facial hair for 7years because u took finasteride, which blocks dht, and dht is what makes beard grow
