    As a Master gunsmith, I am impressed with your video. Keep up the good work and continue to promote the profession. We need more professional gunsmith services available to the gun owner community. Thank you.

    It's nice to see someone using a file correctly.
    Thanks for the video.

    Taking a caliper to the hood and slide could give you the measurements needed to fit just before final removal of material.

    Hey there! Fantastic videos. Perfect pace and leanth. I'm a beginner WRT to 1911s and just love the details you provide which resonate with my other machining and fitting experiences. Please keep up the great work!

    Saw your sponsorship and video on 1911 Addicts. I am currently fitting a Kart barrel on a 6” Springfield V16. I just finished the hod fitting and wi be cutting the feet today. I sure wish Part 2&3 were available today. I was intrigued by your use of the lathe for cutting the hood length. Most. Have seen use a Milling machine but your lathe setup time is sure simplified. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to seeing more as I have a bunch of 1911s on my bench that need some effort.

    I’m really enjoying your videos. A lot of good information. Please keep them coming. Where did to find the inside micrometer that you used on the slide?

      Thanks for watching! The one I am using is made by Shars tool company, SKU 303-2103. It takes a bit of practice to take the slide measurement, because the locking lug surface is pretty small. You need to "wiggle" the tool around to find the sweet spot as you turn the ratchet.

    Can you make a ideo of the must have tools needed to build a 19/2011?

    What are the main differences in this process when fitting a bull barrel instead of a bushing type barrel?

    • @sbardellaarms8237
      @sbardellaarms8237  7 месяцев назад +1

      With a bull barrel, you must fit the barrel (i.e. set barrel tilt) to the bore of the slide since there is no bushing. Other than that, the hood fitting is exactly the same.

    Can a guy build a 1911 without a lathe ?

    • @sbardellaarms8237
      @sbardellaarms8237  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, you can build a 1911 without a lathe or mill. It will be a bit more challenging though. You can fit a barrel with just a file and a lug cutter. It will be pretty difficult to fit a bushing without being able to spin it for polishing, but you could use a drill press for this as well.
