Classic Laddie is an amazingly easy sipper, it had me questioning my peathead status 😆

      Agree and me too!
      Classic Laddie IS whisky.

Great Review John! Couple interesting points on Bruichladdich: They declare only the youngest vintage in the Classic Laddie, so it is a minimum of 7 years old. They used to declare all of them, but were slapped by the S.W.A.(kinda like what they threatened Compass Box with) and since only delcare the youngest.
Also, in addition to the distillate types you mentioned they just released their first Islay grown Rye days ago. That and a few casks of Lochindaal are probably kicking around too.
Love the B-Corp certification. Nice to think they take care of their employees, community and local habitat. Keep the reviews coming man. Cheers 🥃

      Greetings Matt,
Thanks for the maturation age info. Makes sense that there is older juice in there.
      Cheers 🥃

Very enjoyable quiet review. It's true It's a whisky that does not seduce in a fast tasting due to the initial harshness. Need to give it the chance to express. Possibly a problem of our times, we do not spend the necessary time in almost anything. Thank you.

I might say "Rock n roll all nite and party every day". This was my first Bruichladdich whisky, then I moved to another expressions, I love Bruichladdich so much that in Jul-2022 I was able to tour the distillery. Thank you John for the review 🥃

Glad you like it John. The 8 travel retail offers a bit more maturity than this. Waiting for the day we get that 12. 🥃

      Thanks Geoff,
I’ve sampled the 8 last year and really enjoyed it, actually more than the discontinued 10, but could be batch variations.
      Bring on the 12 !!
      Cheers 🥃

My experience: Classic Laddie 21/209 bottles.
First I put 8 pieces in a blind test - for my friends. 16 out of 20 people said - no nose, only alcohol (mostly pálinka - Hungarian spirit or a little floral scent) and alcoholic taste - or only very little taste. (Okay, so some of the tasters were not whiskey experts) This surprised me - it was an easy line rather sweet, easy-drinking drams (no peat) - and that it bled here, I thought it would be the favorite! The next day I tasted it by myself and if you just focus on it - it has very good aromas and delicious flavors - but it's really quite restrained. So only by himself when I have a CL day and I only pay attention to him 🤗

I’ve heard batches vary…give it time and it rewards.
I gave a pour to someone who doesn’t like whisky and he said it was good.
      Cheers 🥃

Cheers John, this is a good one! Unfortunately it's ridiculously priced in my market to justify getting it.

I tapped on this review because of G-Whisky’s review. Ha ha. The 6 degrees of separation. Anyway, I think I didn’t give this one enough of a chance. I had a 2016 and 2018 bottling it was really really malty and sharp. Like a bitter white wine. Looking back I should have given it more time but I was pissed off because some reviewers spoke highly of it at the time and I gambled on the bottles. Mixed them with some peaty scotch to make it palatable to me.

Maybe try the 2012 Bere Barley. Almost double the price but excellent juice and exploration into ancient varietals.
Classic Laddie has batch variations for sure… but for the price, worth taking another chance with little downside.
      Cheers 🥃

Fyi, there is Classic Laddie 8-Travel Exclusive. I already have tried it, quite similar with the entry level version. I wouldn't pay the difference for the 8 y version next time, which was around 10 GBP. Thx John. Slainte.

Hi John, one of your big fan here. Need to pick your brain for a purchase here in Canada. Springbank 18 (250 CAD), Springbank 10 (100 Cad) and kilkerran 8 CS (100 cad). What do you recommend?

    • @justwhisky
      @justwhisky  Год назад +1

      SB18 is not worth it.
I love K12 but tend to shy away from the 8’s.
So i would go for the SB10 every time!
      Cheers 🥃

@Just Whisky thanks for the advice. I live in Quebec(Canada) and we have a lottery to win the chance to buy the product. This time there was a lot of springbank/longrow/kilkerran products but in very limited quantity
