Ah see, Uptown always got my head banging. Like whom ever composed this was just a genius for the genre/avail tech. This is why I couldn't rate Sega Genesis, the soundboard sounded like absolute ass, and so much of a game is driven by sound and music.
greatest childhood moment was being so young watching my brother play this game remembering every move so when he left I could play too, till I got to the part where you need to put on the sunglasses... I didn't know how to read yet. I miss you brother.
Personally, I'd put Super Metroid above both of them. Jurassic Park also has some absolutely fantastic music (the top-down one, not the sidescroller) even outside the context of video games.
I agree with you, but this list has to include the classics of Kirby Superstar and Super Mario World and Earthbound. I mean they were all....genre defining soundtracks. But Shadowrun is top 3 for sure just for how different it was from other soundtracks. EDIT: can't believe I forgot to say Donkey Kong 😅 It should absolutely be on the list of top retro soundtracks as well.
@@EnjoySackLunch Sam Hyde, really cool comedian. He has a video where he is trying to use googles shitty ok google service to play this ost and it just doesn't work.
I always wanted to get stuck in and play this and finally bit the bullet at the weekend. It must have made a dent in my head as here we are, listening to the soundtrack at work. Thanks for the upload!
This game was released when I was 17 in 1993. When debuted, I and a lot of my cohort ignored it because most of us RPGers where only interested in Sword and Sorcery themed RPGs at the time....now 8,000 years later I took a chance on the game via a Retro-Pi and it turns out I was entirely mistaken back in the day. Give it a shot. It will be worth it!!!!
You had a rad childhood. I was a ps1 kid and didn't get to snes till I was 15 and Shadowrun felt like a certified classic in a good way. This OST stuck with me for the last 14 years
It really added to the atmosphere of the game when you were having dialogue with the games strange characters. Almost was kind of scary playing when young in the dark.
loved playing this game on a Friday and Saturday night. the soundtrack kicked ass including the music from the clubs was cool. but personally I liked the chat window music.
@@HunterShowsI have a full playthrough of the JP version of Shadowrun on my channel. SNES ShadowRun and Super Castlevania IV are the greatest soundtracks in SNES game history... absolutely love Funky Conversation + The Cage

I just started playing for the first time and I'm definitely going to play this in a dj set - such an insane banger
best SNES game ever and soundtrack. This game was just amazing i loved it so much i still have my copy and box!!
Honestly, you can't go wrong with the soundtracks from either of the two 16-bit cartridge Shadowrun games...so good.
Thanks for this! Shadowrun is one of the most atmospheric games ever, and in a good part due to it's soundtrack.

I like this soundtrack, very Case. As in Case from Neuromancer.
Masterpiece. This soundtrack is soooo good.
Funky Conversation and Sleazy Bar have been stuck in my head for years.
The cage is my all time favorite

Why is the "Japanese" version of the Seattle 2050 song so long?
The Japanese version has an extended text scroll explaining more in detail the setting. In the US version is only a small text splash screen.
