so for anyone confused on my thoughts (spoiler alert! watch the video before reading this):
I’m indifferent on this launch. Don’t love it, don’t hate it either. Can live with it but also can live without it. The blushes were the best “must have” part of this launch for me. I’ve also come to realize that I don’t mind sheer/minimal coverage products but this line does little to nothing if you have textured skin. there’s basically very little blurring/smoothing technology in most of the complexion products and I think I have a bigger problem with THAT more than I do the lack of coverage. If you have textured skin, approach with caution on this one! That’s it for me. Hope you guys enjoyed my review! ✨🤎

I have oily, and definitely not perfect skin. But I really love this foundation! I pair it with the No Poreblem primer from Touch in Sol, and it just looks so good! Feels like I’m not wearing anything, and my face just looks so glowy in a nice healthy way!

My mom gifted me a Rare Beauty foundation and I felt really good about it, I'm 15 and also latina, so I've never matched my skin color till now, it also feels really soft, it looks like you are not using foundation and personally I loved it :)

If you watch her Huda stick foundation test she talked about this video and how everyone assumed that she was mad that it wasn't full coverage. She said that she could get behind minimal make up but that it should still provide the long lasting and blurring effect that full coverage did. I really recommend you watch that video

You know I don’t really mind celeb makeup brands.... I think Fenty has managed to become bigger than its creator (meaning it stands on its own merits and doesn’t rely on Rihanna for people to want the products). I think when I heard Gaga doing a makeup brand, I was like OH! This makes a lot of sense! Then it was released. Hers didn’t feel like Lady Gaga.... it felt like a for sure cash grab. Ir felt like maybe she wasn’t really invested in the process ...
I am thinking Rare Beauty will become like Fenty Beauty is ... I think it seems as if she’s spent a lot of time really investing her time in helping to create these products and they seem on brand for who Selena is where Haus Laboratories just did NOT feel Gaga at all.

I think this product launch really has the Asian market targeted. I live in South Korea (I'm from the States) and I can tell you that square block eye pencil is def Asian brow friendly since the brow shape trend here is a more thick straight brow. Also the pearlescent primer formula to achieve a "bright" skin tone. From the liner to the lip color style, these are what I see (and purchase) all the time. Also, Selena recently collaborated with a popular K-POP group so I would def say the Asian market was in mind when it came to creating this line.

@@clarkepi2011 Not sure. Sephora is here and department stores have the normal brands. However, there are some really good Korean brands that carry a range of shades. Fenty is here as well.
That makes sense honestly. I'm into natural makeup so I would like to buy one of her products, or maybe even an actual Korean makeup product. I just think they're probably expensive (Rare Beauty because of Selena, and kmakeup I'm not sure, but I live far away from Korea so it must be lol), so for a person that rarely wears makeup, like me, it's not worth it

Okay, I’m a white girl with very pale skin, but I always kind of find myself gravitating toward dark skinned beauty youtubers for their opinions on brand launches because I just feel like it isn’t worth spending money on if they don’t make products that work for deeper skin tones.

I feel like the face products were for girls like me who can't and doesn't like to put a lot of layers of makeup on bc of caking. I can't put full coverage concealers under my eyes bc no matter how little I put they cake out my undereyes. Jackie and I have very different makeup preferences, I feel like her makeup is really thick but it doesn't look odd on her while I put on half a pump of the fenty hydrating foundation and nothing else. Love you Jackie, and thanks for a review that not only talks good but also bad(what you don't like or really prefer). It's great when comparing different products. :) willing to buy if Sephora ever brings it to Korea

I think that Jackie has the single most enjoyable voice to listen to I've ever heard. The tone, cadence and pitch of her voice is so wonderful to listen to. If she made an audiobook or a podcast I would listen to it just for her voice.

I have quite a few friends who are PoC and I do not recommend a makeup brand if it has not been reviewed by Jackie and/or Nyma.
As someone who just got back into makeup, I love this foundation. The coverage is perfect and i can wear it all day without feeling like i have in makeup and it matches my skin tone perfectly. I would recommend!
I reapply like it too, but it tends to transfer very easily for me

She knows what the message is it’s not a secret. She said it in the video. The foundation advertises medium converse and that’s what it gave. No complaints there. The message of any brand has nothing to do with performance. If you have textured skin you can’t wear something that accentuates texture...it doesn’t look good. This review was technical and well explained and therefore very informative. The powder will not work for everyone’s preferences, especially those with oily skin who don’t like shine. That’s all. I like natural looking makeup but a complexion product like the “concealer” that shows some texture and doesn’t cover my dark circles isn’t worth spending my money on with that price point. If the message is natural/love your skin...there’s no point in buying it. Might as well be bare faced. 💕💕 Xoxo
Ok, when you put the balm complement on it tied everything together for me. I have no idea why but I thought you looked really beautiful in that moment. You're a pretty lady all the time, but you know what I mean. It enhanced all the natural mauve/pink in your lips. Maybe your mom is on to something lol!

Agreed. I never understood the idea of "sheer" concealer. Like, honey, that's not concealer, that's a moisturizer at best.

yes, a lot of us do like natural makeup. myself included. that has nothing to do with sheer 'concealers' still not being concealers, though. if I want sheer coverage I'm not looking for an under eye brightener or highlighting pen, not a concealer.
i didn’t even realize how important it is to see makeup reviews BY dark skin people (especially as one myself). i watched alissa’s and arnell’s without thinking twice about the range rare may or may not have.
I was just thinking this too but as a white-passing Latino girl! Im wanting to see what Black girls go through with makeup that I may take for granted sometimes. I want to learn more makeup techniques from Black makeup artists :)

@@xsiemprepaulii hey girl im mexican american and my parents are 100% Mexican and scientifically latinos are considered white bc Hispanic isn't really recognized as an official race its an ethnicity so sadly u are also considered white regardless the only latinos considered not white (black) are afro latinos bc they are of African decent
@@gumbyenthusiast there's also mestizos which is usually what people think of as "latino". It's mostly a mix of indigenous and white. A lot of Latinos aren't just white and can have a lot of indigenous in them (which is why they have brown skin). So while Latino is usually considered white a lot of Latinos have more than white in their bloodline. My mom is Mexican American and her 23andme results came back as almost 60% Native American.

I think this is weirdly one of my favorite looks and I think it's because the concealer is less bright and more sheer. A lot of the time I'm not a huge fan of under the eye area concealer in general cause it almost makes people look much lighter than they are. This concealer Makes it all look "your skin but better" 😍

Same. I’m pretty over full coverage foundations. I like my skin to breathe now so this coverage is right up my alley now. Even the concealer! I don’t like heavy concealers because they tend to crease up on me rather badly so I much prefer hydrating, more sheer concealers. Too each their own though.

Wow I just realized the hours ago thing...
I actually quite like the doe foot applicator on the foundation, because when I use a pump, I always end up having excess ( I use around half a pump of foundation or so, but extra always comes out). It fits with the vibe of her line, an applicator that’s suitable for minimal foundation application

Because most are complaining and the coverage when is states it is lightweight abs for people who like a natural look
I think the reason why Selena stans are on every review are because many RUclips MUAs didn't do their research about the products before using them. Many of them are expecting foundation and concealer to be full coverage like Glam Makeup, but that's not what the brand is meant for and Selena said that multiple times.
@@cutienerdgirl they *sent* her the products, she's aloud to dislike them even if she knows what is the purpose of the brand. Also, sheer concealer isn't concealer (because it just can't conceal), it's a undereye brightener.
This is just what she was saying about stans, you won't get these (number of) comments saying "you don't know what you're doing" if you disliked a morphe palette
@@jazziesworld103 It’s not the lack of coverage that’s an issue, it’s the fact that it does nothing to blur imperfections in the skin, which “natural looking” foundations SHOULD do. Textured skin suffers heavily from the foundation.

@@daniel_2658 but if you can't open it straight it'll be a problem. For instance my mom in law has cerebral palsy and doesn't have a lot of dexterity and is a bit shaky, so if it's designed for people like her then you shouldn't have to open it straight to keep it from spilling.

What i loved selena tried to include everyone that was really heart warming. I actually love her makeup line and her makeup is more natiral which i love .i actually though you look great natural with a pretty glow.

That’s bc not a single of their foundation looks like your actually skin. So it can look orange but when you blend it, doesn’t.
I love the outfit, blush and lip combo, it’s giving me artsy vibes like she’s that hipster cool girl that goes to NYU 🤣. I feel the exact same way about all the products tho. The blushes are definitely my favorite of the line and the foundation isn’t as oily as I thought it would be on my skin at the end of the day with a mask on on top of it. I’m excited to see what else they launch I love the aesthetic and the color choices the brand made. Thanks Jackie 🥰

I personally bidvd that tge person in charge of selecting tge shades fir dark skinned AA has no idea about undertone as they have missed the boat on numerous occasions - hence the reason at least 6 shades should have been provided close to skin and undertone. Not impressed.

But if you have a motor disability, these would be way more difficult to use than a pump product. The fluidity of the products seems a little too easy to spill, and replacing the doe foot back into the tube would personally lead to me glopping product all over the edges of the tube, and I don't even have any conditions like MS, Parkinson's, or others.

I think Rare Beauty is not necessarily for people who like Full glam, full coverage make up. It reminds me more of a Korean way to do make up and I love it.

I love the brow pencil, I just hold it at an angle that makes up for that shape. The lip creams are awesome too. Very awesome launch for ppl who love a more natural finish. And I love the price point. Great for younger ppl just getting into makeup.
The thing I love is that Jackie nd I have the same skin tone. While I prefer reds and browns, I also know pinks will look great on my too. Which they do!

You can navigate through all that and make anything work!!! The amount of coats you put on of Selena's makeup was a lot. Love the finishing look.
