I actually really like how they sort of used SSJ4s tone of voice for Beast Gohan, it makes me that much more excited to see Gohan develop this form.

I feel like problem is after Broly hype, every alpha fan expects constant action and gritty fighting. Forgetting what Dragon Ball also is, adventure! It was nice to have a side story-esque tale despite it escalating the timeline.
Funny because I felt it was more action than adventure but I guess to each of their own

@@mhutch5082 nah lad the 1st dragon ball before Z started off with goku and Bulma going on a adventure to find the dragon balls but eventually goku gets into martial arts cause of roshi. Highly recommend watching the original, it’s not as intense as z but it’s still pretty solid.
I saw the movie earlier today and I loved it. The Animation for the movie was some of the best I've seen. I was also fine with the English Dubbed, but I guess it is because I grew up with the English Dub. I was surprised Super Mario himself was Magenta. Everyone broke down in laughter when Bulma said "I found the Earth's Strongest Warriors... Oh and Krillin."

The movie was weakly strung together fan service. It doesn't even try to be cohesive anymore
I managed to avoid all spoilers, and got teary-eyed during Gohan's transformation watching with my kids and thinking back to Goku becoming super Saiyan the first time.
I think Broly had much better art/animation but this one had better story, character building and fan service.

When I saw Gohan in Beast mode....he clearly reminded me of Teen Gohan... especially in some of the scenes like Gohan flying down to land after an attack...the hairstyle...the smile... the character reminded me a lot of the badass Teen Gohan
I loved the gammas so much more than I thought I would. This movie was an amazing change of pace for dragon ball and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

They surprised tf outta me in all honesty. Gamma 2 the most. He was cocky. Tried too hard to be funny. But you know what? He was my favorite of the 2. He really shined in the end and they delivered. I felt sad to see him die and I wanted to see him revived.
It would of been sick if the moment Gohan transformed they would had shown for a moment Goku and the rest of the crew picking up on the power level acknowledging Gohans power.

I really enjoyed the movie a lot.
One thing I noticed is while yes it is a "Gohan Movie" it's mostly a Piccolo movie with the secondary character of the first half being Pan, then switching to being Gohan in the second half.
There were things I didn't think the movie didn't pull off well.
1. As you mentioned, Whis looked off.
2. There was a lack of hype music(like in Broly, and the ToP).
3. Gohan's hair in his Beast Form is a little too big.
His hair's design is great, but it's too vertical(up).
I hope next time we see it they trim it a little bit, or at least redistribute it.
The music (at least in the JP release) was very hype, in an epic sense rather than a typical anime sense
I just wish they could have used a different hair color other than silver for Beast Gohan as it’s too reminiscent of Ultra Instinct. White would have been a better choice in my opinion.

The movie was actually supposed to be just Piccolo. But the guy closest to Toriyama suggested adding Gohan cause they knew it would make more money that way.

I like how this movie kind of redeems what I particularly feel was Toriyama's original idea regarding Gohan as the protagonist. If you pay attention to the anime opening during the Buu Saga you'll see that the main highlights were Gohan as the protagonist, Piccolo, Goten and Trunks as support characters along with Krillin and 18 getting some shine as well. And that is exactly what happens in this movie with all these characters being present.
Gohan was never meant to take over.

Akira Toriyama: I intended to put Gohan into the leading role. It didn’t work out. I felt that compared to Goku, he was ultimately not suited for the part.

Can’t wait to see this Saturday, Kyle Hebert has always been great as Adult Gohan but he excelled as him in Kai. I’m very excited to see his performance in this film.

Just watched this in IMAX it was amazing. Animation was so on point. They did gohan and piccolo justice.

I really enjoyed this movie and love all the focus that Piccolo, Gohan and Pan got. The animation was a little distracting at first but got used to it, the action was great, and didn't mind that the story was basically a truncated reimagining of the Cell Saga.
I don’t care what anyone says, Bulma asking for a bbl from Shenron is one of the best moments in anime history

I fucking love the total call back of the transformation. Not sure who else caught this but you even can hear Stephanie Nadolny’s original SSJ2 Gohan scream layered on top of Kyle Habert’s yell. That part got me, LOVE that they did that
I absolutely loved the movie. Piccolo carried the first half so hard. Seeing him go under cover and passing off his greenness as being sick were dope moments as well as the callback to the driving episode from DBZ. His moments with Pan were endearing. As for Gohan, I loved him turning serious when Pan was kidnapped. I think the new transformations are great. Loved seeing Gohan use the special beam cannon to finish off Cell Max.
Where to watch?
Hope they keep beast gohan in future arcs because most of the time they always teased gohan for being weak, even fighterz mocked him for being weak. So i hope we get more of beast gohan to keep him as that badass we miss

I watched the dubbed version of the movie this night, and it was nostalgic! I can't believe I saw this best anime masterpiece. Super Hero is going to be a big hit at the anime box office for sure. 😎🔥🤘

Man, as incredible as broly was, there is something about this film man that I enjoy even more. I know unpopular opinion but man this film was so fun, it was funny as hell, it was soo hype and it was soo refreshing to see new faces over just goku and vageta. And man, idc, the intro to cell max gave me the craziest chills and gammas sacrifice was the first time since Z, that a death of a character acc had some weight to it. I loved the gammas. For me personally, best dragon ball since out of the recent 4.
I agree! I love how most of the modern DB movies don't take themselves too seriously in regards to the plot, yet things escalate in a believable manner. This movie probably felt the most organic because it was a very personal conflict for almost every party involved, abd fitting as these are all the offspring of characters from Dragonball and Z.

Just got home from the movie and I really enjoyed it. I was also shocked by all the gasps in shock when beast Gohan appeared even though my theater was mostly empty which was really sad.
Movie was great, I loved how they focused on characters other than Goku and Vegeta for once. However it drives me crazy how they forget little things and how lazy they are with power ups.
It was established in very early arcs that Shenron can’t kill enemies who are stronger than him. Not wishing enemies away was never about pride. Oolong tried to wish the Saiyans away and it didn’t work. I'm sure pride is there for the fighters, that's why they didn't use the dragon to find Dr Gero's lab in the 3 year android prep time, but that is not why they don't use the dragon to defeat enemies.
Why would Dende not have made the dragon stronger a long time ago if all he had to do was pour water on the model? Piccolo didn’t think to power himself up with the universe on the line in the tournament of power or any other catastrophe but he finally did for a much lesser problem that Goku and Vegeta could have easily handled? How did Piccolo not remember the red ribbon logo himself? How did Gohan not remember it? Why did Gohan not sense Piccolo’s ki when he was in disguise? Because he hadn’t trained since the tournament of power and it slipped his mind? Fair enough but why didn’t he sense Pan’s ki the moment he knew she was kidnapped and fly right to her? He may have been out of practice but that would have been easy for him when it’s his own daughter who’s still stronger than most of the planet even at 3.
I still loved the movie I really did but why can’t they try a little harder on the little things? It can be so much fun but sometimes the writing is so lazy
There are much more things than that. How does a super billionaire have such an easily infiltrated lair? How can he pay top dollar for two androids that flip on him with just some minor reasoning? Why did he send two regular guards to kidnap gohans super powered daughter? And then send those same regular two guys to bring gohan to them? What sense does gohans transformation make? Not to mention the pacing, smh toriyama needs to give the license to someone else at this point
@@hueyfreeman5509 well in the movie from what i remember, they didn't say anything about knowing about pans power. They thought she was just a powerless kid. They also couldn't send any of the gammas because the gammas don't like the idea of kidnapping and keeping hostages.
Goku as a child also easily infiltrated the red ribbon base so they are pretty incompitent.
Yea but think about all the little references and call backs in the movie it’s not like they didn’t pay attention to any of the lore. I would rather have that than nothing but yes I’m an ideal scenario they would get everything right

And they couldn't make the gammas with the will of the creator? He's shelling out a billion per unit for disobedient androids? Stop it.
And goku didn't infiltrate them as a child, he just broke in and beat them up. He didn't pretend to be a soldier in disguise multiple times. You're telling me a billionaire doesn't have a single camera in his lair to detect what piccolo did? No one in the entire base thought a big green recruit suddenly showing up was weird? The guy piccolo beat up never woke up? You're reaching pretty hard to justify that movie
@@vdxxxy484 The callbacks are why I'm so puzzled that they forgot so many little things. I'm glad I'm not the only one irritated by these things though. I'm not trying to be that negative nerdy 34 year old on the internet overanalyzing everything but some of the things they missed/forgot takes me out of it sometimes. It's like the writers remember the key events from childhood but they didn't actually rewatch/reread the original stories before making more. I don't know how involved Toriyama is himself these days but I remember him saying that when he made the OVA with Vegeta's little brother(don't feel like looking the official name up) he thought that 18 had pink hair for some reason.
Again my main take away from the movie was not the little things but this is the internet so this is where I'm going to purge it from my mind like Kami did with Piccolo Daimao.
Gamma 2 was my favourite character after seeing it in English, he just had so much charisma and comedy to him and was so distinct that I liked him the most in this movie. I hope he comes back though after what happened, cause dr hedo is still around so maybe he could restore gamma 2.
Yeah same but also idk we have so many characters now. Feel it's such a waste to have characters just sitting on the sidelines like the z fighters. I really think we either need to kill/write some off or have a spin off for those characters

I loved this movie. It reminds me of the good old days of Dragon ball with silly jokes and bantering at each other. The best scenes were Piccolo n Bulma. All the none fighting scenes made this movie feel more like a db movie. Even in Beerus planet, it felt more like old DB.
Im so EXCITED for the next arc. Frieza training for 10 years? Being the strongest in U7, etc. It's enough excitement to overdrive the transformation fstigue

I sure am overreactiong here, but man there are way too much transformation for my liking. And while its just my opinion they should keep it down like rof was trying to do. I'll get use to this black form of his but i wouldn't mind him keeping this strenght and power in his usual gold one.

@@maxdubs222 nah Frieza is one of the best characters. By the end of super, he had a lot of character development.
Elise mentioned somewhere that Jeannie Tirado would be the baby voice of Pan and that if Pan were to age older, Sabat said she would reprise her role. I guess since Pan is still very young, they cast Jeannie once more since its easier for her to hit those higher ranges for little kids.

Me, my Wife and our friends really enjoyed this movie. Great change of pace movie that had so heart. Love seeing more characters being used in the franchise

I actually loved the movie more then i thought i would. yes, it was kinda corny but i enjoyed the fighting scenes and the plot, kinda refreshing for dragon ball
The plot was weak and i don't know where you get refreshing from because it was just a bunch rushed rinse and repeat dbz tropes. A billion dollar investor gets his secret hidden base invaded in 2 seconds multiple times and can't even make androids that are obedient to his side beyond some shallow reasoning? Smh

I kinda wish they had android 17 in this movie. It would be interesting to see the interaction between the past androids (17 and 18) and the current androids (gamma 1 and 2)
Nope that sounds to much like right and to show Cell Max power absorbing the gammas and becoming prefect let Beast Gohan look justified in a intense battle

He tells you he trained for 10 years, very similar to Golden Frieza. I don’t think they’re going to specifically state why the form is black but you never know.

I liked it more than I thought I would. I’m not sure how I feel about gohan catching up so fast in regards to power, but I guess it had to happen since he’s been out of the spotlight for so long. The animation also wasn’t too bad but it does look weird sometimes. I do prefer the story compared to broly though. I give it a 7.5-8/10
just saw it here in latin america i love it, I am so happy to see after all this years how DB is still so alive. I saw it in spanish but i´ll wait wen it comes out in blu ray to watch it in english and japanese. this movie its already my number 3 in my top 5 DB movies.
Just got back from seein it with my 5 yr old daughter, fkn loved every minute of it lol. It’s new DB. It coulda been about them goin grocery shoppin I still woulda been there first night and loved it. Nothin like a new DB movie in a full theater of fellow fans, cheerin and laughin together.

I enjoyed this movie, and something I feel helped it be so strong was that it felt like an anime movie that anyone could get into as well as being a solid Dragonball movie. Most of the other films fit the mould of being Dragonball, but here we had new villians, an actual story act between characters in different places of their lives, as well as a rampaging Kaiju. Lots of fandom appreciated fan service, and a plot that rejuvenated both Piccolo and Gohan as relevant characters that we haven't seen since the defeats of Raditz and Cell respectively.
I just got out of the theater from seeing it, and it was GREAT! I think I liked Broly just a _LITTLE_ bit better, but this was still GOOD! My friend and I had quite a few laughs during the film! I actually had to hold back my scream to only let out a small squeal for the Gohan using the Special Beam Cannon scene, even though I knew it was coming due to the leaks, and the voice acting was FANTASTIC! The final fight DEFINITELY lived up to the hype! Also, one thing that I noticed is that in the dub, unlike how I’ve heard the line was described to have been delivered in the original Japanese version, they didn’t flat out state that Jiren “wasn’t that strong”, only that his *PHYSICAL* strength wasn’t that strong, not necessarily his *POWER* and *ENERGY* strength, which made me breathe a sigh of relief! And the fact that they remembered Eighter/Android 8 made me smile! I’m happy that my first true IMAX experience was for something special like this!

The end of the Granolah Arc and the reveal of Black Freeza kinda takes the wind out of the sails of Beast Gohan's power, but that's to be expected as physical time goes on. It just brings up even more questions about exactly where in the timeline these two sagas sit, and how exactly will Uub eventually fit into Dragonball when Goku needs to train him while also training himself to fight opponents like Black Freeza, Jiren, and any other arbitrary villain that will push the powerscale further?
I feel like they might do something like when goku takes off with uub and then it’s just gohan piccolo and vegeta
That movie is not canon to anime nor manga. It's has its own timeline. It's just a sequel to broly movie where Vegeta and Goku still didn't master their forms. While it's different in manga. And anime will directly adapt manga but in a different sense. Goku will remain strongest after the end of the dbs season 2.

I knew I heard Damien Clarke. His voice was very reminiscent of when Semi-Perfect Cell was dealing with Super Vegeta and Ultra Trunks.
I didn't think I'd like it but I did. I liked the tone they used Gohans voice when he blocked Cell Max's punch. The one thing I hope for with this is more interaction down line with Goten amd Trunks with Pan. I mean they are her Uncles. I think Goten should be the more playful Uncle. I disliked the part they didn't remember fusion

Watched it in Spanish because it was the only way to see it in 4D. Spanish VAs always killing it. Loved feeling every punch, the water in fights etc

Just watched it today, loved it as a loooong time fan! But still Broly Movie was insane and still my fav DB movie, can easily rewatch from Vegeta vs Broly till the end. This one I'll watch on blu-ray again and go back ever so often to watch, Broly is Legendary status for me. 9/10

That would of been cool if Gohan awakened his form and then they cut to Beerus' planet with the fight being paused for that moment of transformation. They all feel it. Vegeta says "Was that?" Then goku smirks and cuts back to the cell max fight
I like the idea that Gohan's potential unleashed is taken to the next level so he's become stronger not as a saiyan but his human side basically instead of following his father's footsteps
As someone who needs glasses I get why gohan dropped the senzu, without my glasses I can't see shit

Cell max was terrifying man. Loved this movie. Movie is gorgeous and the fight scenes are the best fight scenes I've seen for anime this year so far

I finally got to see the English version of the movie last night. In all honesty, I thought it was really good. Gohan’s new form looked amazing on the big screen as did Piccolo’s. Cell Max was cool as well. The only few things that I would’ve changed were the Retcon that Pan didn’t remember how to fly considering she already did that in episode 43 of the Goku Black Arc. Although, there is a valid argument that she suffered from a bout of infantile amnesia which is a legitimate thing that happens where you can’t remember things up until past the age of three years old so I’ll let that one slide. The only other very minor nitpicks I have would be that I would’ve had Elise Baughman reprise her role as Pan for the movie because she voiced her in Dragon Ball Z Kai and in Dragon Ball GT and much the same for Stephanie Nadolny who voiced kid Goku in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT. Other than those few things this was great. If I had to rate it, I would give it a 9 out of 10. I’m excited to see where things go from here when the anime returns sometime next year.👍
Saw it earlier today & mannnnn was I satisfied 🥵🔥 only complaint is that I wish the Gohan Beast vs Cell Max fight lasted longer. The CGI wasn’t bad whis did look darker than ususal but its all good 8/10
The film was excellent they did great job with the English dub definitely going buy it on blu ray.

I tried really hard to love this film, I really did.
Let me preface this with the fact that I LOVE dragon ball, all of it, I live for this shit but I have to be honest here
Pan was adorable, I loved piccolos attitude.
Animation was lovely.
But I feel it tried playing so hard off the nostalgia factor it attempted to half blind viewers with it.
Though gohan claims to have “been training” in secret, he seems like the pansy he was before the ToP arc happened and needed yet another kick in the ass to get up and running, once again going back to “oh goku and vegeta will handle everything” until Pan was captured
It makes no sense to even come remotely close to thinking Goku and Vegeta would struggle with #1 and #2, how could that even possibly be a thing?
(I did like the 2 androids they’re chill).
Gohan has his potential unlocked, so why does he have to “transform” into what should be his base state, yes he is powered on emotion and what not but it just felt like they tried to erase the ToP progress he had made, becoming that insane warrior once again in the ToP
Cell Max? Nah, it’s like they’re thought “we brought frieza back so if we half ass that with cell people will like it right?” Felt like a cop out, a copy of Hyrudigan from that DBZ movie.
And to even consider the fact that this raging cell monster could even come close to fucking with Broly and Gogeta? Get the fuck out man (these were statements by Toriyama in an interview.
Krillin turned into a pansy again, despite punching above his weight in ToP.

And gohans new form man, “let’s do that bit where we animate the moment he snaps, give a 3 second transformation IF THAT, extra big cringe hair and have him 2 shot cell and call him stronger than G and V.
He deserved more, you remember brolys insane transformation ALSO powered off of emotion and rage? Where was that for our boy gohan.
It just felt like a comedy trying to play off nostalgia.
And like I said I LIVE for dragon ball, been reading the manga and watching everything for as long as I can remember, the only thing I truly enjoyed was how adorable pan was, and that Vegeta finally beat Goku.

I agree. Gohan had to struggle hard coming from being a pansy to even compete in the ToP, and here he becomes Beast Gohan a few hours(!) after complete pansy-mode.
Cell Max didn't seem to be that strong indeed, I mean even Krillins Destructo disk kind of had an impact on him, like really? He should have been able to kill Krillin just by breathing in his direction

@septembers!! I'm allowed to like what I want, and I appreciate that this movie had more story and little plot details. What little plot Broly had was great, but it really did boil down to an hour long fight scene. A REALLY GOOD fight scene, but a fight scene nonetheless. Also, the CG was fantastic.

God the movie not having vegeta and goku was so much more relieving than I expected , that og dragon ball feeling no gods or bs plot armor just classic dragon ball and z fighters
I like how Cell Max was almost like a call back to Bio Broly. No real personality and basically a shell of his former self, since its not like Cell really came back.

After watching the movie to be honest the animation was legit and the story was good too. Overall I enjoyed the movie 9/10 great story it was indeed and I love how they turned the red ribbon plan into a scheme by piccolo to make gohan return to battle it was genius.

Went into the movie blind and was pleasantly surprised! Saw it in 4dx and I regret nothing! I'm a huge Vegeta fan, but damn did I love this movie! Felt very nostalgic and happy to see Gohan and Piccolo getting power-ups.
Just watched it (subbed) The gamma 2 moment was absolutely fire and underrated.
