Nice to have Piccolo become more relevant in dragonball again, especially with the dragonball super superhero movie. Dragonball super superhero is without a doubt Piccolo's movie. Orange Piccolo is a great form for Piccolo, and allows him to compete with the saiyans again. It is strange that while Piccolo does train to get stronger, his most significant power increases has always been because of shortcuts, such as Namekian fusion and a wish from the dragonballs, but I won't complain since Piccolo finally gets his own transformation.
You cannot blame him, the only time he gets those shortcuts or what I would say "blessings" is when he had to protect his friends and when the Earth was in great tremendous danger, like in planet Namek against Frieza, when he fused with a namekian named Nail, against the Androids and then later Cell, fusing with Kami, and now finally after all these years, his full potential powers unlocked from the Dragon balls, because it is really one of its most greatest gifts to earth, and desperate times calls for desperate measures. Might as well make that wish then see the world ruled by the iron fist of the Red Ribbon Army.

Piccolo with his Potential Unleashed (Ultimate Piccolo) has black nails, while his Base form has white. His nails stay black in Orange Piccolo as well as his Antennas facing upward. Besides him losing the many ridges in his arms, those are some really cool micro changes in his transformations. Like the color of the eyes in certain Super Saiyan forms.
I get a little annoyed with people calling this form a "shortcut" or "unearned". We literally see in this movie that Piccolo is spending all of his free time (when not being a dope uncle to pan) training. Still training, still encouraging Gohan to train. What exactly do people mean by earning a transformation? Having a rage moment? Why is getting a free transformation when rage moment just because you're born a Saiyan "earned" but this is not? Piccolo has more than put in the work to be this powerful, and if he were a Saiyan he would have been already. And now we find out his race does in fact have a culturally relevant method to bridge that gap and its not "earned" enough? That's nonsense. The dragon balls are Namekian in origin. Kami designed shenron and dendei continues to maintain them. Piccolo getting a power boost from something derived from his own origin and powers is ENTIRELY VALID. Way way more so than Gohan studying bugs or whatever for his entire adult life and then getting an equivalent power boost because he got mad for ten seconds.
I mean Gohan didn't earn "Mystic" either, he had Elder Kai Unlock it, this is no different. What I'm writing is those who claim Piccolo didn't earn it, it was just unlocked is all, it was in there already.
I don’t think Piccolo would just wish to be stronger for the hell of it. Goku and vegeta were off world at the time and he knew the looming threat of cell and androids would be too much for his current power. He made the choice and it worked out in the end.

Some folks have wondered how Piccolo became so instantly strong after getting his potential unlocked by Shenron compared to characters like Gohan and Krillin when they got their potentials unlocked by Guru. I think the answer to this is twofold. For starters, as a wish dragon with full access to the Namekian Book of Legends, Shenron is likely way better at unlocking one's potential. Aside from that, let's look at Piccolo's growth prior to unlocking his potential. Not only did Piccolo gain tremendous power from training, but also from fusing with Nail to become an emboldened warrior AND Kami to become his old self again. Think of all of this as Piccolo stacking his hidden potential like crazy, but never having an ability to unleash it until the latest film because he lacked the means to fully transform like a Saiyan. He was basically saving up his potential unintentionally, building up the hidden reserves of strength that needed a specific unlocking method to release.
The form itself is an evolution of his Potential Unlocked form given to him by Shenlong, but the power he releases is the deeper potential within himself, although that was also given to him by Shenron as a "small" bonus.
As far as I know, the official name of Piccolos more yellow form aka the first new form he gets in the movie, is called Power Awakening. Which makes sense because it isn’t the same thing that Gohan got in the Buu saga, but it is immensely similar. Dragon Ball legends just released a few new cards from the movie a little while back and that’s what they called it there, and the other DB mobile game is how we got the official name for Blue Evolution Vegeta as well. So I think as of right now, Power Awakened or Awakening is the official translated form name. This was a little too lengthy for my liking but I think all of it is necessary.
If it was the same sacred/ultra divine water used in the Garlic Jr. saga, it fully tracks that it would bring out Shenlong's full potential, allowing him to do the same for Pickle.

If he is, I was thinking this form might be Piccolo tapping into Zalama’s power and the transformation is a Dragon God transformation. “Dragon Piccolo” would be a cool name for the form if this could be true.
Has nobody noticed that when piccolo summons shenron he begins with i will Grant your wish and then sees piccolo and becomes more humble he says oh piccolo sama like he is respecting him and gives him his full power because piccolo still isnt complete you could argue that if he fused with king piccolo he would be truly complete
I feel like the Orange Picollo form is more akin to the SSJ God form than the normal SSJ form. Something lost to time which the user could not achieve on their own.
Let's not forget when Piccolo fused with Nail on Namek. Whatever essence or power that Nail left with Piccolo, added to the power increase also. So Nail's power is getting unlocked also. In theory🤔 "Mystic Mango Piccolo" is what I'd call him.
Honestly of all the new transformations I feel like Piccolos is a good one. My evidence for that is that Shenron, originally created by Kami, gave the power to Piccolo so it feels like a nod or recognition of his former station. The dragon gods and dragonballs are intrinsic to namekians; out of all the folks who wished to gain power Piccolo feels like the only one who deserves it.

It could be the Nameless Namekian was a Orenge Namekian, but the technique to transforming was lost when he split into piccolo and kami. Piccolo not gaining the power himself could be down to his beimg on earth, with its fewer suns it would be a less optimal enviroment for a namkeian to gain strength.
I am glad that piccolo shines in this movie because without a doubt he is one of my favorite characters and yes it makes you feel that it’s more of a piccolo movie which is although it’s not about piccolo it’s Gohan as well
I wonder if Orange Piccolo is what a Super Namekian truly looks like. It would be kinda similar to how Vegeta kept assuming he and Goku were super saiyan simply because they got stronger, until they finally saw what a super Saiyan truly looked like when Goku unlocked the form. Everyone assumed Piccolo had already become a super Namekian a long time ago when he fused with Kami(and I think they said he was a super Namekian when he fused with Nail too) but maybe “Orange Piccolo” is the true form of a super Namekian.
Due to Shenron giving him the form and the Namekian symbol physically appearing on the back of Piccolo's gi, I think this is a mystical form as opposed to something achievable through physical training.
I prefer to call it the Ajisa form because of the lore released around Ajisa trees, the symbol of one appearing on the back of Piccolo's Gi as he transforms.
I think while unlocking Piccolo latent power, the "extra surprise" the dragon threw in was to do the same to nail amd kami within him which helped stack power inside of Piccolo further
I wouldn't mind in the next arc if Goku and Vegeta train by sparring with Gohan and Piccolo for a few chapters. We could get reactions to everyone's new states of power lol
I love how they did this. It feels him coming full circle. From the day Kamiccolo split in 2, Kami mastering the Dragonballs and King Pic being a brutal warrior, his death and the birth of Piccolo, fusing with Kami, and now boosting the Dragon Balls and himself to get this form. So epic.
I actually totally forgot about this movie, but when I saw a picture of a Gohan that looked like GT's Baby-Vegeta and a big steroid orange Piccolo I first thought this was some random fanfiction stuff. I had to look this up and well, here I am. Finally our favourite green boy gets a power up of his own.

I love Piccolo as a character especially back in the Android saga. He brought the seriousness and intensity that the saga needed. Glad to see him finally get more recognition!

I heard that "something extra" was the original shenlong kami created returning to him. In superhero you'll notice that the design of Shenlong changed becoming Dende's dragon rather than Kami's dragon

I was wishing that story part of Supersonic Warrior (A old DBZ GBA game) became canon. Piccolo in order to become more powerful, the actual original namekian who came to earth, had to revive King Piccolo and then fuse to get enough power to defeat Super Buu, and always though that part was amazing.

Glad to see Piccolo FINALLY gets what he deserves. Good to know he's on par with the others. I just wish he revealed this form due to his training. He trains way too much just for him to have to wish for it.
I might be wrong, but isn’t the Dragon God Zalama and him having a connection to the Namekians technically canon? If he is, I was thinking this form might be Piccolo tapping into Zalama’s power and the transformation is a Dragon God transformation. “Dragon Piccolo” would be a cool name for the form if this could be true.

I feel like the Orange Picollo form is more akin to the SSJ God form than the normal SSJ form. Something lost to time which the user could not achieve on their own.

Let's not forget when Piccolo fused with Nail on Namek. Whatever essence or power that Nail left with Piccolo, added to the power increase also. So Nail's power is getting unlocked also. In theory🤔 "Mystic Mango Piccolo" is what I'd call him.
Honestly of all the new transformations I feel like Piccolos is a good one. My evidence for that is that Shenron, originally created by Kami, gave the power to Piccolo so it feels like a nod or recognition of his former station. The dragon gods and dragonballs are intrinsic to namekians; out of all the folks who wished to gain power Piccolo feels like the only one who deserves it.

It could be the Nameless Namekian was a Orenge Namekian, but the technique to transforming was lost when he split into piccolo and kami.
Piccolo not gaining the power himself could be down to his beimg on earth, with its fewer suns it would be a less optimal enviroment for a namkeian to gain strength.
It’s cool to see Piccolo gain a new form, soon our DBXV2 Namekian CaC’s will attain the form as well.
I am glad that piccolo shines in this movie because without a doubt he is one of my favorite characters and yes it makes you feel that it’s more of a piccolo movie which is although it’s not about piccolo it’s Gohan as well
I wonder if Orange Piccolo is what a Super Namekian truly looks like. It would be kinda similar to how Vegeta kept assuming he and Goku were super saiyan simply because they got stronger, until they finally saw what a super Saiyan truly looked like when Goku unlocked the form. Everyone assumed Piccolo had already become a super Namekian a long time ago when he fused with Kami(and I think they said he was a super Namekian when he fused with Nail too) but maybe “Orange Piccolo” is the true form of a super Namekian.
Old kai didn't use divine magic to unlock Gohans potential. He used witches magic which he can use because he fused with a witch via the potara rings.

Due to Shenron giving him the form and the Namekian symbol physically appearing on the back of Piccolo's gi, I think this is a mystical form as opposed to something achievable through physical training.
One of my favorite things about it is…piccolo got a damn transformation and it still a good day for us piccolo fans.
I prefer to call it the Ajisa form because of the lore released around Ajisa trees, the symbol of one appearing on the back of Piccolo's Gi as he transforms.
I think while unlocking Piccolo latent power, the "extra surprise" the dragon threw in was to do the same to nail amd kami within him which helped stack power inside of Piccolo further

I love how they did this. It feels him coming full circle. From the day Kamiccolo split in 2, Kami mastering the Dragonballs and King Pic being a brutal warrior, his death and the birth of Piccolo, fusing with Kami, and now boosting the Dragon Balls and himself to get this form. So epic.
I actually totally forgot about this movie, but when I saw a picture of a Gohan that looked like GT's Baby-Vegeta and a big steroid orange Piccolo I first thought this was some random fanfiction stuff.

I heard that "something extra" was the original shenlong kami created returning to him. In superhero you'll notice that the design of Shenlong changed becoming Dende's dragon rather than Kami's dragon

Piccolo in order to become more powerful, the actual original namekian who came to earth, had to revive King Piccolo and then fuse to get enough power to defeat Super Buu, and always though that part was amazing.

11:09 - Just putting it out there but: Piccolo Jr. didn't exist back then! The son of Katas was divided in *KING* Piccolo & Kami. Multiple times Jr. is addressed as the *son* of King Piccolo, not King Piccolo himself! Even to this day, the Nameless Namekian has never appeared outside of flashback.
I feel like this form should of been called "Dragon Piccolo" or something else instead of "Orange Piccolo".
