Yeah we've recorded for a little while now while setting things up and the car is on raffleshackcompetitions.com so it's already out there to be seen, and yeah it was a scary moment, followed by confusion ha ha
Everyone's worst fear when messing with the airbag system! You were lucky to have spares waiting 😂 Imagine if it was the dash 🙈
As some one who does a bit of work on vehicles myself, airbags are one of those things that I'd just pay an expert to sort (Or anything electronic to be honest, I hate working on electrical systems in vehicles!), glad to see the boys are able to smile about it even though it's more work to do.
My '08 6-Series has the BMW SOS installed. Not sure if it works as I think it needs the BMW Assist package but either way, I hope I never have to test it out. Kind of funny to think that when the airbags go off in a modern car it panic-calls 'Home'...
They're not to bad to work on (airbags) tbh, you just need to remember to disconnect the battery ha ha yeah we wasn't expecting the sos call like ha ha 🤣
Mate, I’ve been working on everything with an engine since I was a kid! Even have me own garage now and I would still rather get some other c**t to do airbags!! 😂😂😂
Nah, that's the first time I've set one....or two off ha ha they're not that bad, I actully enjoy doing the dash yano..... i know that's a bit weird 🤣🤣

Oh F*&K! The airbags, anything but the airbags. They really do go bang. Great video guys. That car is quick. The problem with us Aussies are we all speak about the same, our ears are not tuned for the amazing accents. My wife and I had a ball in the UK. Just wondering where you shot the video, there was NO rain and there was sunshine (grin).
Ha ha sorry about the accents, it should be a bit clear sounding when we've got the mics on....we must have done this build in our 3 days of summer ha ha 😉

There’s a Chanel called Salvage master v, he did exactly the same with the airbag module on a x6
I wished we had seen that ha ha we were scratching our heads for a full day looking for the fault
Good production on these, well done and put together. It's really nice to watch. I'm really interested to see what happens to the car now. Do you keep it or sell it and it would be really interesting to see if you can actually make a profit? It seems like you're doing it for fun as well, but I reckon this could be a really expensive hobby if you were doing more cars and weren't getting good money back. I hope we see more projects.

2 weeks ago my son crashed his i20n, airbags went off and he said the car started talking to him and asking what emergency services he needed, he said ambulance cos he was stuck and injured and just like that everything turned up, didn't even give location, modern cars are bloody amazing. Ps. Forgot to say, his eardrums burst when the airbags went off, Hospital said it would've been the sudden pressure change inside the car 🤷♂️

Oh man! I always unplug the battery for ten minutes before touching airbag systems. So lucky it was only the curtains and not the drivers or passenger front airbags!
We know but in the excitement of sorting all the codes it completely slipped our minds....we won't be doing that again ha ha and yes the dash, airbag kit and windscreen cost about £1500 so would have been a costly mistake

@@TransformotionVR 😂 if it makes you feel better it’s happened to me, the first time I ever did a air bag change years ago when I was on the YTS and learning, except it was the steering wheel that blew! Busted nose and a couple of shiners, and years of piss taking from the lads in the garage I was working in then! 😂
Although I still swear I disconnected the battery and one of those f**kers reconnected it to f**k the YTS lad! 😂😂

Ha ha it was the same as the first time we did it but twice ha ha 😂
If the pyro disconnects the battery when it goes off how does the car still have power after like for the call that you got? Or does it not cut power to everything?
Good question, it cuts power to the starter so it won't turn over, but when we first got it the battery was dead so the electronic boot handle wouldn't work either, the jump points in the boot must be on the starter circuit as that didn't help either
Did you replace the vin number on the new dash?
The vin is on the cars chassis and the dash has a hole cut out so it's visible, it's not actually on the dash but good question
@@TransformotionVR it was on the M4 done by salvage rebuilds. The vin was part of the replacement dash and a new vin plate had to be sourced.
I'll double check tomorrow mate but I'm pretty sure it was on the metal work when we removed the dash, did they do that just to replace the dash or was it damaged? Maybe it was stolen recovery and had a damaged vin....ive not see the video so couldn't say
I double checked and our vin was definitely on the chassis, salvage rebuilds m4 is newer, I dont know why BMW mounted it to the dash....absolute madness
Why did only the side airbags go off?
I think we got lucky with that 1 are guess is that Andy has tilted it sideways and it's though the car is rolling over it would have been very costly if it set them all off
@TransformotionVR I'm thinking it's more likely that airbag was dodgy. Airbags don't go off like that. I've connected many modules and never seen that happen. What's weird is that it called emergency so the car actually thought it had been in a collision. Weird stuff
No, we had the ignition on after diagnosing the fault, really we should have had the battery disconnected, and it was either it asked out on the studs, static or tilted it to much and as liam said thought we were rolling over. Yeah we didn't know cars could ring you like that!
oh my god that was so so sketchy i put a feed to a seat airbag out of a golf and it blew me across the garden

Lads… I laughed my head off… and now I know why the Salvage Rebuild lads are so fastidious about disconnecting the power! That was interesting to see though. A bit of a ‘to me… to you’ moment when you started removing the seat but all good in the end.
Of course the footage of the tranny repair needs to go on the channel… give us a bonus upload on Saturday!!

We're our own channel and wouldn't want to copy anyone else, we like the light hearted approach, we can have fun and still build cars.
Is Matt going to park it in a layby and tell us you've massively overspent ? As the (sort of) point of the channel is to make money from inconvenienced cars I'll be very interested in the final economic reckoning. Nice job boys, well done.
