Haven’t even made it halway through this video and I like it so much more than any of the many videos I’ve watched to help me plan my trip to Rome. The videography is fantastic and doesn’t make you feel like you’re there. It’s the perfect mix of a guide and documentary for visiting. I feel like I've watched dozens of videos in preparation for my trip to Rome next year and yours has been the best one so far. Very well done. Clear and concise.
Nice indeed. I have been to Rome 34 times. I would also recommend taking a coach from the airport . The company I like to use is called ( TAM ) the ticket cost is €9 return and takes just under an hour depending on the traffic and stops at Termini station. And yes you can do alot in just a few days . Rome is safe, great food and waiters. I am living in Malta right now and it's only an hour flight to Rome. God how I wish I was back in beautiful Rome, I'm getting all Jelly here 😜. Now here's how I would like to plan out my day. First Trevi fountain, Pantheum, Spanish Steps, and then lunch in Piazza del Popolo. That's the morning and afternoon covered. Anyways I could go on and on here but this video is all about you guys and not me 💕. Nice to hear a young couple having fun in Rome. Ciao ciao.
Yessss. Before i knew anything about the climate I decided to take my trip this November. Just so happens I love the rain and cold weather more than sunshine and warm weather! :D

Thank you for your tips, we are planning a trip to Rome in July. We want to be close to the historic center. Is the hilton walking distance to the Trevi fountain?
We stayed at the Doubletree hotel (part of the Hilton family) and that was about a 15 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain. There are many options in Rome, though, if you want to stay closer!

Victor Emmanuel II was the first kind of unified Italy (1861), not king of Rome; If anything, he was king of Piedmont-Sardinia before becoming king of Italy. We have no pre-imperial tombs of the kings of classic Rome, and after the fall of the empire the rulers were the Popes (which are generally entombed in the Grotte Vaticane, under Saint Peter).
We're just back from Rome in January '24. We took the elevator to the top ( 17 euro each!) at dusk time. Beautiful sunset followed by full moon. Great view of the city from there. Highly recommended. Enjoy
Thank you for the great video. Well documented for first timers. QQ: do you recommend the skip the line pass at the basilica and the dome ? There are also packages for skip line with guided tour. Is that recommended?
Glad you liked the video! We didn't use any skip the line passes at the Vatican and St. Peter's; when we went the security line for the basilica was only ~10 mins and then another 10 min for the dome elevator (no line for the stairs). However, we also visited when crowds were very small due to both the season and pandemic, so things may be a bit different as summer season picks back up!
It's the first time I see someone suggest one of the best things to do in my beloved town: climb the damn cupola! It's so underrated but it's the best view you can get both of the city AND of the interior of St Peters. I also agree with all the other suggestions but one: I always would recomend to take a guide (and not only in Musei Vaticani), otherwise it's very easy to overlook something wonderful...
I'm so glad we climbed it, definitely worth it if you're able to climb!! My husband jokes that we always end up climbing things everywhere we go since I love the views. 😍
I live in a high rise condo. I exercise by climbing the interior (fire) stairs. You mentioned there were 551 steps (after the elevator ride!!!). That's a heck of a climb. In my building, it's 14 steps per story so this represents a 39 stories climb. Wow, that's beyond my old body's ability. I'm good for 20 but no more. Thanks for the info.
@@bill9989 hi! To my knowledge (internet) 551 is the TOTAL number of steps if you DO NOT take the elevator. If you take it you will skip about 200 of them in the renovated and less fascinating part of the climb. As far as I can remember steps vary a lot during the climb, from long "horse steps" to short steep steps in the final spiral stairs. The climb starts with the renovated large, tiled stairs in the huge pillars to the internal balcony, out to a spectacular external balcony over the square, and then climbs inside the curved walls of the cupola to end with a very narrow spiral stair that leads to the top, just under the cross. A little short of the total 133 metres (436 ft). It's not too hard for an adult in decent conditions. It gets narrow, so if you are very large or suffer from claustrophobia I wouldn't suggest it.
@@mariocioffi188 Mario, thanks so much for your very detailed response. That changes a lot for my decision. I might do it. Can I ask you one more question? Do the people coming down use the same stairs as the people going up? From the descriptions of the narrow, claustrophobic stairs, it seems that might be a problem in passing.
I think Mario is right! We saw 551 steps on the warning sign after the elevator ride, so we definitely assumed it was from that point. And we certainly weren't counting! 🤣 If I recall correctly, we came down via different set of stairs than we went up, so we didn't bump into people. We also went near closing time so there were not a lot of people after us!
we are going to rome on 13th of november and we are wondering if we should get a skip the line ticket for vatican museum or are crowds not big in november?
Hi! The only tour we booked was directly through the Vatican Museum website and it was called Guided Tours for Individuals - Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. We did not book a tour for St. Peter's but we did purchase the tickets to walk up to the top of the Basilica on site.
Hi! The only tickets we purchased in advance were for the Vatican museums and Coliseum. We just bought them directly from the Vatican and Parco Colloseo websites.
Thank you so much for the great tips! I lived in Italy and have been to Rome several times. Should be there in a couple of months. So looking forward to enjoying new experiences! How long was the walk up the copola of St. Peter from the elevator?
Not too bad, maybe about 20 minutes! After the elevator, you exit onto this rooftop area where you can explore on your own and there's a little shop. Then when you are ready, you go into the interior of the cupola where you can overlook the actual basilica from above. After that, you really start to squeeze into little walkways and staircases before popping out at the very top for the amazing view! 😍
It's really up to your personal preference! We tend to just explore most cities on our own, but we're sure there are great guided tours available if that's more your style.
Excellent video. So, is it true that a Vatican guided tour purchased from the official site does not give you access to St. Peter's Basilica? Apparently private tours have the opportunity to use a quick entrance, which bypasses the long lines outside.
Thank you! We booked our tour directly as well, but it was just for the Vatican Museums, not the Basilica. We did that completely on our own. And since we went in November 2021, there weren't really any long lines to skip at the time! I'm sure that has changed now. 😆
First tip if you plan on visiting Rome: do not just plan for 3 days only. Plan for at least 10 days. I’m Italian, I know what it’s like to try and see Rome in 5 days (a nightmare… you basically run from a place to another hoping you can see everything and you can’t… imagine doing it in 3).
I’ll be heading to Rome in May this year and I’m currently in a bit of a strangle of what I should book in advance. Which popular attractions are free to enter/go to and which really acquire a pre-booked ticket? I could really use a bit of help, thanks!
@@RDK_Productions was OK 5 years ago but would not get it now looking at it again. People complain about getting one then not being able to book attractions 3 day is 52 euro you can get 3 day travel pass for 18. Probably not worth it now
I am always perplexed, how foreigners who want to make bloggers about Italy are so unprepared, in the pantheon there are the tombs of the kings of Italy and not of Rome, and also the tomb of Raphael

I think three days would be the minimum amount of time if you want to make sure you can see all the major highlights in the city center and still have time to relax over meals and not feel overwhelmed. I'm also curious to know from others if that is enough time depending on when you go! We got lucky when we went it was not very crowded which saved a ton of time.
Fun! Yes, for our Vatican Museum guided tour, we booked that in advance directly! m.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani-mobile/en.html For St. Peter's, we just showed up and bought tickets to the top on site. 😀

Stay near Pantheon or Piazza Navona
i totally wish i watched this video before i visited rome LOL
4:51 Bonus tip ))
First tip if you plan on visiting Rome: do not just plan for 3 days only. Plan for at least 10 days. I’m Italian, I know what it’s like to try and see Rome in 5 days (a nightmare… you basically run from a place to another hoping you can see everything and you can’t… imagine doing it in 3).
😮😢 I booked 3 days for October 24 😢
I’ve got 4 full days in time, know I won’t see it all hoping that will be enough 😅
I did it all in 5 days ao
How are the power outlets
Where is leonard de csprio
Quanto dista Fiumicino d’all aeroporto al Colosseo?
How much did it all cost?
I’ll be heading to Rome in May this year and I’m currently in a bit of a strangle of what I should book in advance. Which popular attractions are free to enter/go to and which really acquire a pre-booked ticket? I could really use a bit of help, thanks!
get the Roma pass
@@clivebaxter6354 isn’t that crazy expensive?
@@RDK_Productions was OK 5 years ago but would not get it now looking at it again. People complain about getting one then not being able to book attractions 3 day is 52 euro you can get 3 day travel pass for 18. Probably not worth it now
What camera did you film with?
Hi! We primarily film with a DJI Osmo Pocket.
I am always perplexed, how foreigners who want to make bloggers about Italy are so unprepared, in the pantheon there are the tombs of the kings of Italy and not of Rome, and also the tomb of Raphael
Easy to judge, man. Go on then and make your 100% accurate video.

@@fabriziopastorino3792, Exactly, then other tourists listen to these people, go where they go, and don’t actually learn anything. It’s amazing that anyone would listen to two people who have never been to Rome before just because they can make a nice video.
@@FactsnotFiction101 Exactly, the same happens when they talk about our economy, cuisine and with that Italian-like background music, which even my great-grandmother doesn't know😂😂
@@fabriziopastorino3792, I bet they went home and ate pizza with chicken and pineapple on it while they told their friends “how into Italy” they are and “how they’re thinking about learning Italian” 🤣
Hi guys! Loved your video! Did you think 3 days was perfect without feeling rush?
I think three days would be the minimum amount of time if you want to make sure you can see all the major highlights in the city center and still have time to relax over meals and not feel overwhelmed. I'm also curious to know from others if that is enough time depending on when you go! We got lucky when we went it was not very crowded which saved a ton of time.
The best museum in Rome is MUSEO NAZIONALE ROMANO. It is museum for intelligent people.
Is rome humid?
Hello, my boyfriend and I are visiting Italy in September 2022. If you don't mind me asking, what was the name of the Vatican guided tour you used?
Fun! Yes, for our Vatican Museum guided tour, we booked that in advance directly! m.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani-mobile/en.html
For St. Peter's, we just showed up and bought tickets to the top on site. 😀
What website did you book the coliseum tour
Hi! Our tickets were booked here: www.coopculture.it/en/poi/colosseum/
