    I love your itinerary for a two day trip. We were there a month ago for three days and I was able to hit almost everything you have here. We decided to spend an evening doing a twilight food tour in Trastevere as we’ve been to Rome many times and skipped the major sites this time. The Borghese Gallery was a real highlight for me as was Piazza Del Popolo. We used your RUclips video as we toured Largo Argentina. It was very helpful and informative. That was a fantastic site!

      Thank you so much! It's tough to see it "all" in 2-3 days but with some planning, you can definitely see a lot. I agree the Galleria Borghese is a must and I include it in my 3-day itinerary on my website. I'll be making that video soon. Thanks so much for letting me know you enjoyed my Largo Argentina video and used it while you visited!

    I just got back from Rome. I live in Spain. Thank you for everything. You really helped me plan a perfect visit. One suggestion of topic for a video : Tiramisus. I planned my Tiramisù experience using Tik tok and it was a great adventure. I tried some homemade ones at the restaurants I ate.. I also went to 101 tiramisus and Pompi. It was a lot of fun and I'm sure you'll have fun making this video as well. My favorite one was a Nutella and pistachio Tiramisù I had at 101.. For the mixture of flavors. The second one was at Armando al Panteon, the texture was amazing! Thanks again!

      Thanks as always! I don't love being a turbo tourist, but I know many people are. As long as you've got the energy for it, that's great!
      The Pantheon costs 5€ for a normal adult. There are reductions for kids and other categories. And then as I mentioned, there is a 1.50€ fee for using PayPal. But I think it's a small price to pay!

    Do you have a video with suggestions of things to do when arriving in Rome after an all night flight from the US? We plan to leave our luggage at our hotel until check in time, have brunch and walk, walk, walk to stay awake and fight jet lag. Maybe a food tour, a garden, museum? Our hotel is near the Spanish Steps.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  Год назад

      That's a great idea for a video! Believe me, as an American who flies back home 1-2x a year, and as someone who ran a B&B (with my husband) here in Rome for nearly 20 years, I know exactly what it's like to arrive in Rome on those early arrival flights, get to your hotel in a jet-lag haze, only to try to figure out what to do for the next few hours until your room is ready.
      I do not recommend a food tour as this will not be enjoyable and you will likely not really remember anything. I also would avoid a museum. I think walking outside is the best thing, to keep you awake and to keep you feeling minimally refreshed.
      But you are right, it's a good idea for a video and I'll add it to the list!

    Hi,
    After spending a five night stay in Rome, exiting today for Lisbon. Rome is a romantic place despite the many negative things that you see , such as Homeless people around the Vatican in St Peters Square and many people asking for a cigarette or money. There are many people from Bangladesh who are working in the Service Sector.
    My main point here , is about the pickpockets in Rome Metro Trains. As my wife and I were to enter the Train, a couple with a pram , blocked the entrance. Another lady with a hat covering her left palm tried to open the bag of my wife. Simultaneously, another man with a jacket covering his hand , opened my sling bag. Sensing something is wrong, I noticed that my wife's sling bag was half open and mine too. Half open. As we got altered, and reminded about the Pickpockets in our country, we moved away.
    Fellow travellers may read this and please be careful in bus/ Metro in Rome as all four ( the couple with the pram, two pickpockets) were all a gang.

    My husband and I are visiting Rome for 48 hours either on the 7 or 8th of December Before departing on a Viiking ship. What would you recommend for an itinerary during these winter months? I don't think the Vatican will be open?
    BTW, thank you for your piece on how to dress for a December visit. VERY helpful.
    I have a suggestion, where to enjoy GF option menue in and out of touristy areas.
    Thank you!

      In this video, I share my best tips for an itinerary of 48 hours. Yes, the Vatican is open. If you mean the Vatican Museums, they will be closed on December 8 which is a holiday.
      You can watch some more videos on my channel for more details, and I also have a lot of tips on my website:

    Hi, thanks for your incredible work. I am preparing my trip to Italy with your videos, I live in Utah but I am Argentine.
    My English is not fluent, but I can understand you. I’m planning to visit Rome soon, probably in October. Can you explain or give me the information about buses?
    I think I will need many of them, because I have problem with my leg. Thanks in advance.

      Thank you so much. I'm glad you understand me. If you like, you can turn on subtitles and set them to Spanish. They may not be perfect because they are AI generated but they can do a pretty good job! Yes, I have a page about this on my website:
      www.romewise.com/rome-transportation.html
      Taking the bus is easy and convenient! Just get a pass for the time you will be here (1, 3- or 7 day), and use your phone (Google maps is connected to Rome's public transportation system ATAC) to figure out which buses you need to get from point A to point B. Have a wonderful trip!

    Wondering which area you recommend for first time visiting Rome with young adults: near Villa Borghese (hotel room)or near the colloseum rione monti area(apartment)
    This would be in early March. I have both places on hold:)

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  9 месяцев назад

      Monti/Colosseum is much more central and closer to the sites. Villa Borghese is a bit further out but may be quieter. Depends on what you are looking for.

    Are these sites walkable to each other? Or do we need to take an Uber from place to place. (We are not going to the Vatican it will be closed when we are there) We do have a tour booked for the Jewish Quarter and the Synagogue though oh and the Collesium too. So basically the other sites you mentioned like angels bridge and so on… walkable or Ubers? Of walkable, will the hotel concierge help map out our day? Thanks…

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  5 месяцев назад +1

      In the description of this video, I've included a link to a Google map showing both days' walks. You can see where everything is and how far apart they are on that map. I planned it so it's walkable and you should not need any other transportation unless you are tired or have walking issues.

      A few decades ago, it was free to walk around the Roman Forum, but since I've lived in Rome (I moved here in 2001), there has been a fee to enter the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill. It's part of your Colosseum ticket.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, it's really frustrating they have not yet found a way to accept non EU credit cards. I hope they fix this soon. There IS an option to pay with PayPal but it's not evident. Look closely at the option for "pay a different way" and then there a bunch of choices, two that allow you to use PayPal. I hope you can make it work for you!

    But if we buy that one ticket to Colosseum & Pantheon & Forum what do we do? How the ticket works if it has a time slot? Say, we choose the 8 am time slot and enter the Colosseum. How do we enter the Pantheon then? If it's not 8 am anymore 😅

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  3 месяца назад +1

      Well these are two separate tickets. The Colosseum opens at 8:30 am and you can visit it then, and afterwards visit the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill (included in the Colosseum ticket.) Then, you can book a completely different time slot for the Pantheon. If you are not sure what time to book for the Pantheon, you can just go there and wait in the cash line (on the left). it moves pretty quickly.

      I think you are not alone in this sentiment, but unfortunately, the only way to see the Sistine Chapel is by going through the museums. It's at the very end. That said. you can follow my instructions here and bypass most of the museums and get to the Sistine Chapel in less than half an hour:

    Which tour has breakfast?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  8 месяцев назад +1

      This is an excellent tour that includes breakfast AND the shortcut to Saint Peter's Basilica.
      Please note that there are no longer tours that access the museums before opening hours with a pre-opening breakfast.
      You'll go in right at the opeming at 8AM, enjoy a buffet pancake/egg breakfast in the courtyard, and then tour the museums.
      The huge bonus is being able to take the shortcut from the Sistine Chapel into Saint Peter's Basilica.
