My late mum and her cousin were in Florida for an art seminar. Mum is an art historian. They were sitting outside the gallery when a rather belligerent guy (BG) approached her and started taunting her for some reason. Two bikers from a well known 1% club approached to help but mum motioned them back. BG decided that a 4'11' thin woman in a Chanel suit and heels was fair game and he poked mum in the chest. That when mum turned, flipped BG over her shoulder and head-first into a garbage can. The two bikers laughed so hard they were bent double. Never underestimate a little prim and proper woman.
One of the pharmacists at my work is a bit shorter than me (about 1.6 m tall to my 1.7 m) and can't be more than 60 kg (I'm estimating as she's pretty skinny). She's ex-military and knows martial arts, and she's also a snappy dresser to boot. I've yet to see her kick someone's ass, but I'd bet on her to come out on top in a fight any day of the week. If I were to ever witness her take down, say, a 150 kg biker or linebacker, I'd probably shit bricks.
In my humble opinion, as a woman, the chick in the second story absolutely deserved what she got. Not (just) because she lied and sicced her husband on the guy, but because she attacked him first and he was defending himself. Any injuries you receive as a result of attacking someone (especially without provocation) are on you, regardless of gender. That's because any person, regardless of gender, deserves the right to self-defense. Edit: typo, auto correct is my nemesis.
Her husband is an idiot. I'd be asking her why she was even over there when she's supposed to be there with me and I certainly wouldn't be getting physical just because someone called her names.
My sister's ex Julio, who we are still friendly with, is a trained boxer. He's short (about 5'5") and wears baggier clothes that would have made it impossible to know. I remember a story he told me once about a trip he took to an ATM to get some money. He was at a machine with mirrors so he could see that someone was behind him. Julio must not have been looking too concerned because this guy decided he was going to try to mug him. Instead, Julio took him out with ease. I think it literally took one well placed punch to knock this dude's block off. The lesson here is to not pick fights with people because you have absolutely no way of knowing if they'll make you eat pavement.
I'm 5'1". I carry a small sheath of kunai knives everywhere I go, and train with them constantly at home. No one expects a small guy to be able to have a lethal weapon at their throat before they can blink.
We had a small patch of grass at the front of the house (3'x9'), to get the mower from the yard to that spot would take going out the alley and around the block, so my mom would use a pair of kitchen scissors.
That last story is a great moral lesson, the young brother must have a good sense of respect and self responsibility now and kudos to the mother for showing pride for him learning those life skills
Thats the kind of parenting that gives them enough room to prove a point and give a lesson to teach them without it going out of bounds or being bad or neglectful or whatever.
I was so worried people were going to berate her for her choices but compared to the mom who threw all her kids things out of his second story bedroom window for sneaking out while grounded, this was completely tame. Like sure, he cried. I cry when I realize things I do to MYSELF. He needed the reality check, and I'm so happy it was done without threats and yelling. Sounds like mom knows when to be hard and when to just let life run it's course and teach her children important things. At least he was in his home, with access to necessities and care behind the scenes. It was just sans luxury. This family honestly sounds pretty decent.
Story 3: I witnessed my own instant karma with traffic a year ago. I was stopped at a red light with my dog riding shotgun. Our light turned green, so I started to pull forward. This speeding delivery van comes barreling through what was clearly a red light for him to turn left. Thankfully, everyone on my side was able to stop in time so we didn’t hit the idiot. But, there was s police cruiser also at the intersection 2 lanes over from me that I didn’t see. Flashing lights go on and that jerk gets pulled over immediately. I laughed all the way to my destination. 😂
Seen things like this. Creeping along in traffic with an impatient idiot behind me, who was apparently to close to notice the police cars at the accident ahead. Idiot pulls out aggressively and floors it, just to get waved down by the cops not long after.
I too once witnessed instant karma, at the time I was driving a school bus, in our state special education kids ( kids that have behavioral issues or high functioning Autism or slight learning disabilities) and special needs kids, ( those having physical issues or developmental issues) have to be picked up at their homes, rather than a remote stop, ( we were also having trouble, with the local chief of police, who was telling his officers, that they didn't have the time, to enforce the traffic codes, dealing with school buses and their stop arms/ flashing lights so we had quite a problem with motorists disregarding stopped school buses) well it just so happened that I had one special ed pickup on my route, that was at a home right next to the police station, one morning, I pulled up to this stop, with my stop arm, and lights activated, and the idiot behind me decided to blow right past, right in front of said police chief, who was pulling out of the station! The guy got about 10 feet before the chief nailed him! The best part was that the chief, having observed such blatant disregard for the law for himself, ordered a crack down on such violations, for the rest of that school year, every driver that was seen running a stop arm, got hammered!
Favorite, and most frequent instant Karma is when I'm driving as I normally do, the speed limit or with in 5 mph over and someone gets impatient with my safe driving and passes me. I of course always try to pull to the side to let people pass me. But if your in a single lane no pass area I sometimes get people tearing around me illegally and zipping away. The instant karma is when I see them stuck at the next traffic light. All their hurrying and road rage is for nothing. Happens all the time to me. I also don't get how they draw the line at a red light when they have already broken laws against tailgating, speeding and passing in a no pass road. All of which can get you killed if your careless.
I was at a crosswalk. My light turned green, and a guy in a giant pickup decided to tear around the corner. The only way he didn't see me was if he was looking to the left or just not at the road in general. I dodged back onto the sidewalk, and he noticed me and gave me an apology wave, but he had a cop right behind him also wanting to make that turn... lights went on before he could put his hand down, and I continued crossing the street.
I also saw an instant Karma. It was VERY foggy and there was a red Sportscar, hard to identify per the visibility, that was weaving back and forth trying to get ahead on the super slow, appropriately so, freeway. We could see him tring to zoom up, then brake hard several times. There is an off ramp we had to take that is a single lane with a rather abrupt split and then two sharpish turns. one lane going to a bridge to the west side and the left one going to the east side. There was that red sportscar, amazingly climbed up the divider and pole right where the split was, nose well in the air, back tires, only, on the ground. I'll never forget it!
3rd story reminded me of something. I’m a recent graduate of truck driving school and my instructor told me and my classmates a story about a time not long ago when he was driving down the interstate when a Karen in a Mercedes pulled up nest to him and stayed there. He quickly looked over and saw that Mercedes Karen was texting on her phone, he hit a switch that started cameras recording including the sides of the truck where you could see Karen texting. Further down the road a orange sign said left lane ends 2 miles, Mercedes Karen is on the left in the passing lane staying next too the truck and still texting. Next sign says 1 mile, Karen is still texting, then 1/2 a mile, Karen is still texting, sign says 500 feet merge right, Karen is still texting. Finally she plows into the orange barrels filled with water and stops. My instructor continued driving 10 miles past the construction zone when he saw flashing lights behind him. Apparently the story she told was the truck and forced her into the barrels and she wanted the company insurance. My instructor stated the facts then gave the footage to the officer, who after viewing it and copying it said have a nice day. Karen got additional ticket/charges for a false report.
I'm surprised no one brought up the fact that the Karen in story 2 was flirting with somebody and then complained to her HUSBAND because the guy didn't accept her advances.
She was doing it for free booze, and the attention. When she got neither, she got mad and went for a fallback plan. She is the type to cheat on the husband mind you, but she does need something physical out of it. Gotta love entitled idiots

That happened to a couple guys I know. One of them is a cop. Goes to show these [insert STRONG language regarding unpleasant females] just don't have any sort of moral compass. What's worse is they make REAL victims less credible.
Story 1: I burst out laughing when OP picked out a machete for his new pruning tool. I've seen countless movies over more than 6 decades, where machetes were used to clear a path through jungles. That is a form of pruning. Like OP I name some of my things, mainly my canes and rolling walker. Due to health issues I can no longer handle taking care of a pet, so I kind of made my mobility aids into pets. Since they help me get around I am a little fond of them, especially my rolling walker. That thing is pretty cool and makes walking and standing in place a lot easier. The fold down seat, basket, hand brakes, and ergonomic hand grips are great too. Strayed off topic again. My bad. Did like the first story though. I loved picturing the Karen really freaking out when OP started pruning again, but with the machete. OP's story has reminded me of a scene from Crocodile Dundee. I think he was being mugged in a subway station by a knife wielding mugger. He looks at the mugger's little knife and said "You call that a knife?" Then he pulls out his own much bigger knife and says, "Now this is a knife!"
only thing that would have been better is if he had bought a milsurp flamethrower and used it to clear driveway weeds... (In most countries a flamethrower is also a gardening/farming tool)
Story 2: One of the few bar fights I was involved in when I was in my early 20's began when I accidentally bumped into somebody while leaving the counter and spilling what would have been my first beer of the night on the guy. I started to apologize and was going to offer the guy a drink on me to make ammends and the guy grabbed my throat. I'm 5'8", but I'd spent every summer since I was a teen working as a laborer for a carpenter so I'm not scrawny by any defenition. I also used to do martial arts as a fun form of excercize, so although I'm not the toughest person in the world I'm by no means a slouch. It ended about half a second later with me sitting on the guy's head telling him that he had no right to grab me like that.

The man literally asked the husband to tell her to leave him alone. The husband responded by ignoring the fact that that implied his wife was actually harassing the man, not the other way around, and instead of asking about it, decided to jump to physical. I feel bad for people who accidentally die/kill in bar fights from pure dumb luck (one simple punch/fall can mean death, even if it isn’t incredibly hard), but that doesn’t mean I feel bad for people who get hurt in them. Enter a fight and expect to get hurt, _especially_ if you’re fighting a stranger. She had a reputation at that bar for being a drunken, dramatic “Karen”; I doubt her husband was unaware of the type of crap she pulled.
The moment the mom smiled at the "I'm not a little kid anymore!", I smiled too... I knew EXACTLY where that MC was going, and it was as glorious as I expected.
I knew what was coming too as the kid got a lesson from tough love as the best way to teach a kid that they can't always have what they want is a little bit of tough love
Hahaha, it’s probably because I’m not a parent, and because I was generally obedient and good as a child and my teenage rebellion was short lived, that I didn’t actually see this coming. I don’t even remember the details of exactly what I did, I just remember screaming at my mother in the street somewhere about something I also no longer remember. I also remember being banished to my bedroom (which had never actually been an effective punishment because most of my favourite toys and whatnot were in my room so I was entirely happy to be banished there and often did so voluntarily but I never let on to that) and having dinner brought to me and being told that I was only being fed to avoid child cruelty laws. But what I do remember was that this was largely self inflicted and that a few months later after I’d matured somewhat and very, very painfully clearly was the deep embarrassment at my behaviour. Even though it’s been over 25 years. So yeah my parents never had to do anything so extreme to discipline me at age fifteen. On the other hand once I hit sixteen I decided my bedtime so long as I was quiet but I also had to face the consequences. If I stayed up to 4am playing games online with my friends in the US and was really tired in school or college next day, that was my problem. I soon learned to restrict late nights to Friday and Saturday night, and later to those nights when I didn’t have mornings lectures.
Or someone who could have them arrested, fired or, hell, practically exiled.. One of these days, we're gonna hear about a Karen who "disappeared" after attacking a guy who she didn't realise is related to Organised Crime..
My favourite story about bouncers actually involves my wife many years ago. We had been celebrating her birthday, and she was slightly tipsy when we arrived at the local diner for eats. The bouncer was HUGE, I mean 6ft 3in, 250lbs of wrestling muscle. My wife was 4ft 9in tall, and when we get out of the cab, we walked toward the door, then she spotted the bouncer. She stopped dead in her tracks, turns to me and says, "oooo can I take him home?". I said "Sure, just sling him over your shoulder and bung him into the cab." My sons and the bouncer just lost it completely. The bouncer actually paid for our dinner, saying it was the best laugh he had had in ages. I am still not sure to this day if she was serious or not.
That would have been even more funny to see your wife attempt that, even more, if she did manage to lift him a little bit, they do say that muscles come in small a package, in this case 4ft-9ins 😂💪
The last one with the very intelligent mom brings up a reason everyone should know the basics of cooking. You never know when you might need culinary skills. And not just because you want to be an adult but aren't quite ready. Our mom started us as soon as we were old enough to stand on a chair and could keep our hands out of the food when told to. Three winning stories.
Last story was lovely. As a mom of a single kid who just turned a teenager , I already see issues and the need for me to handle it better. Teenagers don’t need instructions , they need lessons which a parent will have to design and deliver planning meticulously, executing graciously and making them see things lovingly.
I'm a teen and my mom has taught me how to do my own laundry, we help cook on Sundays and she's gonna start teaching me money management in a bit. Definitely good to teach us youngish
From story 2: Why wasn't she barred from the bar? If she is know for that than do not allow her to come in. From story 4: Growing up we had one of those neighbors and one day she complained that our house needed to be re-painted. My dad agreed and since we weren't in an H O A we didn't have to follow any rules. He told all the other neighbors what he was going to do and asked for their indulgence for a short little while and they agreed. One day these painters came and painted the house. The neighbor said "Is that a color"? My dad said "It sure is and it was cheap because they had a whole warehouse full of it". Later that night is when the neighbors came out to see our house painted in glow in the dark paint.
from sory #2 i can tell you right now that story is fake as hell. pro all the way down to golden glove boxers are not allowed to fight outside of the ring. their fists are considered deadly weapons for the simple fact they are trained to hit with such force (450 pounds-100pounds) that they can actually kill someone who isn't trained to take a punch.
Story 3 (Shoulder lane): If you have some emergency which necessitates using the shoulder lane in a traffic jam... I'm pretty sure it's still illegal, so don't do it. BUT you can call the police and see if you can get an escort, or get an ambulance (if it's a medical emergency). Being late for your salon appointment is NOT an emergency. It's technically a dick move to be "that guy" blocking the shoulder, but in the end he was actually improving the situation for almost everybody. People cutting the line and merging back in slow everything down by disrupting the flow of traffic, causing a chain reaction because now the people in back are going even slower than they would have been. Trucker was doing everyone a favor. Even Karen, as he was preventing her from getting into a wreck... until she insisted. Whatever you say, lady. 🤣
About 20 - 25 years ago, I was on my way home on the last day of a 3 day weekend. The highway traffic was backed up for miles. It was normal for the highway I was on. Some dick decided he was too good to wait in traffic and I could see him coming up the shoulder. I moved over to block him. The car in front and behind me just maintained my space for me. When the dick finally merged back into HIS spot (nobody would let him in) I signaled and got back into line, right where I was when I started. He tried a couple more times, and the cars just saved my space for me. He finally got the hint, that he too had to wait patiently, just like the rest of us.
I mean, if the guy had taken her up on her flirting, it still would have ended up with the husband starting a fight. She must be one of those women who like making their man fight.
My mom is currently fighting liver cancer and things have been tough for me. These stories have been keeping my mood up as they are entertaining and enjoyable to listen to. Thank you for doing this, Fluff.
I'm actually surprised there wasn't some kind of code on the number of times you can call Police or City on an individual that the City could hit Wilma with. I mean, if if she did it anonymously, they must have had her number which they could have traced. I'd certainly love to serve that notice! "You're in violation of City Stature 22567,continous reports of petty level incidents against a single individual. Cease and desist or a suit will be placed against you and your phone service disconnected."
I have a neighbor like Wilma. After 5 calls to me about my dogs, several notices from the city about my yard, her coming up to visitors to my house to tell them to tell us about something or other or complaining to them about something in my yard and quite literally scaring them, about 15 notes on my door about something or another, and two court appearances about something she deemed unworthy about my house or people within, I finally filed a no contact order in her and threatened a harassment lawsuit. My life has been so quiet for the last 4 years.
Similar story as the last one: I have an adult son still living at home.. He works and even worked all thru Covid as he works in a grocery store.. Mother's Day beginning of Covid...I asked him if I was to be getting my request of coffee in bed with Cinnabon flavor cream. So this is how convo goes. Son: I don't know why i should have to bring you coffee I have to work this afternoon. Mom: um it's mother's day?! Son: ya so, I don't see why you get a special day, there's no kids day! Mom:are you frigging kidding me?! EVERYDAY is kids day! Son walks away I get no coffee. Well that load of laundry with his chef's coat somehow never made that leap from basket to machine. Son: Mom my coats not clean. Mom: oops I then went and placed an order online to my favorite local Italian restaurant and doordashed my mother's day lunch/dinner Son: Mom did you get me some lunch? I need to eat before work. Mom: oops (forkfull of lasagna tasted extra sweet) Later that night he came home ...dropped 5 snickers candy bars, a bag of peanut butter cups on the table... Son: here Mom they didn't have any more cards out and flowers weren't looking too good.. happy Mother's day. Next day his clothes were done, and the dinner I actually had bought him(hid in the oven) last place he would look, was packed for him at work.
About 20 years ago, I was commuting to work, and hit the usual construction traffic that starts about two miles before my exit. I was already in the right lane in preparation for the exit, behind an expensive SUV with a sunroof and a semi in front of the SUV. The dude driving the SUV got pissed because the semi did what the video’s driver did, veering into the shoulder to block anymore traffic heading for the exit. He was honking and getting more steamed, but the semi wasn’t budging. Finally, traffic opened up about a half mile before the exit and the semi pulls into the middle lane and starts speeding up. The SUV driver STOOD UP in the sunroof (while driving at around 20 mph) and tried to throw his half-full coffee cup at the semi!!! It totally missed him, but I am still flabbergasted by that to this day.
Trucker story: Yep, happened to me once. Accident ahead and 2 bikers went by on the shoulder. When I went by there were off their bikes talking to the highway patrol!
I'm a long haul trucker and see people do that a lot. One night 2 cops had a car pulled over so moved into the other lane and minivan could wait moved over from behind me and passed on my right in-between me and the 2 cop cars...yeah that went over well lol, the cop got in his car and the minivan pulled over in about 60 seconds.. hope they enjoyed their ticket 🎟 lol.
My brother drives a 30T Rotator Wrecker. He was stopped on the shoulder in a blind curve, trying to wench a semi out of a ditch. LEO had both lanes blocked to keep traffic from hindering the recovery. Well, Crazy Karen decides to do 60MPH down the shoulder, rounds the curve, and right into the back end of said wrecker. My brother was trying to hook a cable to the truck, when it suddenly left his hand. She was OK, but EMS had to cut her out of the car. She tried to sue both the wrecker company and my brother. In the end, it cost her her license for a year, over $10k in fines/court costs, and due to no insurance, paying for $45k in damages to a wrecker.
at least he wasn't behind the wrecker and had been pinned there... sadly, many rescue personnel lose their lives from it! Slow down and move over as the saying goes!
Karen on the shoulder. I was in the Branson area. Traffic at a stand still. Look in side mirror, Cadillac coming up and BAM, nailed by State Patrol. My Aunt and I laughed so hard and the Karen gave us a Lazer glare. That need me laugh harder.
Story 2 : What really blew me away was the next time the guy saw the Karen, she hadn't changed that behavior. For most of my life I've operated under the assumption that if someone is an insufferable asshole and pushes you too far... A jab to the nose, followed up by a few more punches in the soft spots is about all it takes. Then again, I haven't got into a fight like that since high school. Never dealt with someone who's most likely spent their entire life in an echo chamber, surrounded by people telling them they're right all the time.
Story 2: The Karen provoked the fight and got involved in it? I am having a difficult time feeling sorry for her. It sounds like it didn't even teach her manners either. The last story: The parents were great. Talk about being careful what you wish for. The son even learned his lesson. Great story.
Maybe I'm a mean mom, but my kids started doing their own laundry when they were about 9. That malicious compliance sounded more like teaching with natural consequences and just great parenting lol.
Not a mean mom. Heck, my mom got us all involved with laundry, house cleaning, making beds, helping in the kitchen with meal prep and definitely clean up (we rotated Mon - Fri on dishwashing and drying, sat & sun mom and dad did the dishes). Mom said, you participated in dirtying up the house and dishes, you can damn well hell with cleaning things up. You live here, you help keep it clean and tidy.
You are a better mom than the one in the last story in my opinion lol. I don’t really think parents are doing their kids any favors if they are still completely dependent for everything at 14.

Before I moved into my university dorm, I'm the only one who helps with all the housework while my younger sister acts like the brother in the story. Now that I'm 11 hours away, she had to take over my responsibilities. The first few weeks comprises of her frantically calling me during class because she didn't know how to turn on the washing machine, how to use the rice cooker, how to feed the cats, how to clean the litterbox, how to use the vacuum cleaner, how to prepare mop water, etc. I think she's doing fine now, but I did hear her suggesting giving away the cats every now and then.
That story about the guys neighbor, calling cops, the city, whatever she was doing. She called the city just after a storm, the people were there fixing the damage, and the city worker didn't even just say, Ok good to see you getting it fixed. Take care have a nice day? Dear lord... that crap makes all us city workers look like morons. Also, when she demanded that he change the clolour of the house, if that had been me, I would have laughed at her, then told her to eat what the dog leaves in the yard. I do not tolerate people that are rude to me.
I do believe that if I was driving a semi, I would have my own dash cam, whether the company liked it or not! You have to protect yourself, specially if your company won’t protect you.
The meanie in the first story should have seen me chasing a rabbit with a big rake, at our church flower garden. It had nibbled all the buds off and I was MAD, yelling loudly.
She should have seen me, late one night, a 6'4" 300lb. guy in his skivvies chasing a home invading possum through my house with a razor sharp Katana! Caught him in the kitchen, on a tile floor thankgoodness. Whew!.... two half-possums really stink. 🙄 😆
Story 3: I've seen this a lot, where people will go flying up a shoulder because they feel like they don't have to stop and wait like everyone else. That said, trying to block them usually results in me getting yelled at, flipped off, etc
What drives me nuts at a dual carriageway (a road that has two lanes, one for overtaking usually with a speed limit of 40mph) close to where I live that has had major roadworks going on there for the last three years. I honestly have no idea what they’re working on but it involves huge concrete pipes that I could probably walk through at the highest point without ducking my head. But often it means that a series of cones are deployed to merge two lanes into one. As you can imagine given it connects a network of roads from a major motorway that’s basically a major artery for the south west of England, with a direct route into my city which is again a major UK city, at certain times of day these lane merges really cause massive traffic jams. And for the vast majority of drivers, we see the temporary signs warning of the merge ahead and resign ourselves to spending the next 10-15 minutes in a queue to get past the roadworks. Beyond the sign you can see that an orderly queue has formed in the lane that’s not being merged with cones and dutifully join the back of it because that’s only fair. What pisses me off is that every so often some absolute entitled jackasses continue driving down the other lane skipping several minutes of queue, reach the cones merging the lanes and then basically push into the front of the queue amongst the drivers that have politely waited their turn. What’s infuriating is that the polite drivers *let them* push in! If they just carefully stayed close to the car in front and held their nerve there’s no way for the car to fit into the gap to push in. I started out merely doing that myself, absolutely refusing to give in and let the jackass into the space in front of me. But after awhile, during the rare occasions that I forget how bad traffic is that time of day or just can’t avoid it, I now do what the OP does once I reach the back of the queue-position my car squarely in the middle and thus block both lanes. If I have to queue, so does everyone else. This isn’t a hard shoulder and I can move back in if an emergency vehicle comes. And ensure all my car doors are locked. So far I’ve only gotten honked at, yelled at and sworn at. But some people can go crazy with road rage enough to make me feel in danger. But that’s a story for another day.
I'm a trucker and I don't give a flying f if you want to throw a hissy fit claiming your entitled to use the shoulder. I'll tell you to f right off, if you can convince me you have an actual emergency in your car then I'll let you go.

In that time, I saw 6 different cars blocking entire lanes because they wanted to merge, but the open spot wasn't "good enough" for them, so they kept moving forward, or they had waited until the last minute expecting people to let them in. One was blocking me from being able to exit the highway, just to save what? A minute maybe?
LAST STORY WAS PERFECT!! THAT IS EXACTLY HOW PEOPLE SHOULD DISCIPLINE THEIR CHILDREN...INSTILLING LESSONS WHILE SHOWING THAT THEIR ACTIONS WERE NOT ACCEPTABLE AND WILL HAVE CONSEQUENCES !
As a trucker, you gotta do what it takes to make roads safe. I've even been taking a right turn and people have driven over the curb and onto the sidewalk to make a right turn "first". Do what it takes to make sure people don't slam into the side of your semi.
Story 2: Hey Karen...it's called Equality :p Story 4: My friend in Dallas was harasser by a neighbor the same way for her house colors...so she painted it BRIGHT. FUCKING. ORANGE. That kid learned a valuable lesson in life about being an adult, we all want to stay up all night, playing video games, BUT, we still have to wake up and do adult things. Both me and my sister knew how to cook, do laundry, and most things by his age, while I wasn't, and still not, a big fan of cooking, I'm still able to. Also, he should be lucky his parents didn't do what mine did to me as an adult, and that's wake me up every morning, and yell at me saying "You need to get on a sleep schedule" only for me to end up getting a job where I spend most of my shifts working nights. These days, I still stay up until 11PM, and wake up around 06:30 AM days I work. Being an adult sucks, but at least he learned his lesson.
If I have to pull an all nighter, often for work, I look at what my schedule is the next day and adjust accordingly. I. E. if I need to work overnight and don't have to work until 2pm and it takes me an hour to get to the office, I work until 2/3am and then sleep until 12/12:30
I had an acquaintance pop by for a visit a while back. She saw the handle of my athame and asked “is that a knife?” I answered in the affirmative and pulled it out to show her, deliberately pointed away from her. Its blade is almost 8” long and has jagged embellishments along the spine. She got this wide-eyed look like she was afraid and asked me to put it away. I did, then explained it’s for ritual purposes only, and is never used to stab or cut anything. Some people can get very silly about knives.
Oh the stories from when I was suckered into working security at clubs..the best and long running ine involves a mirror wall next to the exit and a bar. Sometimes, the drunks will start out being all nice to their reflection, gesturing for it to go through..only for the reflecting to mirror what they are doing. Then they stsrt throwing punches, which is when security steps in. Happens almost every single night, even with regulars. And they always demand that we throw out the reflection.
Our neighbors wait patiently for holloween each year to see what new addtions are added to our yard. Last year was a skeletal mermaid and her daughter caught in a net holding hands.
The last story: I remember the first time I stayed up late. My mom said 10pm was MY bedtime. Being the youngest, I thought this sucked. So mom said I could stay up as long as I wanted but still had to get up by 7am for school. I fell asleep in front of the TV after everyone else went to bed at 11pm. Mom woke me up at 7am for school. My neck and back ached from sleeping on the couch. But I wasn't allowed to whine about it to the teachers, and she wasn't going to pick me up if I said I was sick. That school day was the longest I ever had. When I got home, I wasn't allowed to just crash. I had to do my homework and help with the dishes after dinner. I went to bed at 8pm that night. After that, my bedtime was the same as everyone else's, 11pm.

LOL Regarding the Karen who ran into the police car while illegally driving on the shoulder: Bet she's finduing out that diving like that and ramming another vehicle is technically "assault with a deadly weapon". @@popcornpony8420 I'm not entirely sure where the line is drawn between pro and nuclear... some people say that the revenge requires illegal or even criminal deeds from the person seeking revenge, or that it needs to result in lasting damage or death, but there are times when this doesn't seem to apply. There's this revenge story where OP and his mother were abused by everyone in their hometown, and years later OP eventually shut down the factory that was the pillar of the town's economy, effectively destroying the town and ruining countless lives and families. Totally qualifies as nuclear for me, yet it was listed as pro.
Story 3: I was a little surprised at the trucker saying his company was too cheap to pay for dash cams. Dash cams are cheap nowadays and a trucker's best protection against insurance fraud - and truckers are the favorite target of the fraudsters.
OP should have put in a restraining order against Wilma for all her harassment. Also, the city came out threatening fines due to damage from a storm from the day before. Glad I don't live there; I like my lawn being shaggy.

30 years ago, my father and I were driving across the country to Pennsylvania to pick up his aunt. We no sooner cross the state line into Indiana when traffic was being condensed into one lane on the interstate. Traffic was at a slow crawl and the line was as far as we could see. Suddenly, this impatient jackass in a minivan was tearing down the shoulder of the road like it was a personal driving lane, the semi a few cars ahead nudges over so they cannot pass him. The minivan driver is pissed, he's laying on his horn and just acting like an entitled asshole. We slowly move along and suddenly the semi moves fully back into the road and the minivan driver thinks he's won. No such luck, there's a bridge coming up and the shoulder is about to end. So, Mr.Minivan tries to bully himself a place in the lane. Nobody lets him in. As we slowly drive past him, he's screaming and yelling in his vehicle at everyone for not letting him in. You can see veins pulsing in his neck and forehead, as if consequences don't apply to him. I'm in the passenger seat, I laugh at him and flip him off as we drive by.
There were a couple of really bad wrecks along I-435 on some days that had the Interstate backed up bumper to bumper for miles. It caused a backup spilling back onto I-470 and he logjam of cars went all the way back to the MO 50 and 350 highway interchange, and there were a few idiots who decided to use the shoulder to pass everyone by. IDK what happened if they got busted driving on the shoulder, as it took about two hours for us to reach our intended exit due to how bad the traffic was
I was just as disrespectful as the kid in the last MC and my mum taught me humility and self reliance as the mom did. the boy is going to grow into adulthood with the same life skills and be far better for it. Kudos to the mom for doing so.
I had to use my sword collection to trim brush back. I dressed up in my chain mail and tabard put on a helm, grabbed my broadsword and attacked the brush. My neighbors were laughing as I hacked away. When I was done I proclaimed "NI!!" They were rolling. Being a cosplayer has its perks. 😆
Bruh I’m still learning how to drive and during one of my lessons a motorcyclist passed me on the right while a bunch of other motorcyclists passed on the left. It stressed me out so much
As a 16 year old kid on a small Honda, I once heard a rumbling. A large group of bikers on Harleys came up around me. I'm about to crap myself. One rough looking biker looks at me, gives me a nod and they rumble on down the road. I later learned most bikers are cool.
The machete one reminds me of comments by Sam Vimes from the Discworld book series by Terry Pratchett. Any farm implement can be considered a weapon. Many did become them, nunchucks were rice thrashers, bill hooks became pole weapons and so on, but you have to use them counter to their intended use/purpose to be a weapon.
My mom taught us girls (4 of us) how to clean, do laundry and feed ourselves starting at the early age of 6 years old. Now I’m the 90s and early 2000s top loaders we’re the machines. My youngest sister had the benefit of front loader washers when she started learning. The stove was 10-12 age range because of height and reach and then the oven was the teenage years. I learned a lot growing up from fixing simple cracks in the wall or floor to tuning up an old vehicle. My moms friend had a car and it finally died when her youngest was 16. Her oldest was 26. There was no such thing as throwing away old clothes if they could be sewn. Tables can be refinished and stained and tile can be scrub and washed. We lived a pretty hard simple life where I started working at 13 before the working age changed and helped my mom’s friend with her car. The only thing she left out was how to drive!🤣

for story 2, if you're having a true emergency call 911 full stop. Driving on the shoulder is putting you, whoever you're driving, and everyone around you in danger. Debris on the shoulder may not be visible (like nails) and could pop your tire causing you to lose control of the vehicle. Not to mention that no one is expecting you to be there so they could pull out suddenly. There's a reason it's illegal. Don't do it. on the other hand, don't take the law into your own hands. whole lotta crazies out there.
The first story is a delightful flip of the old warning that "you take people as you find them" if you're going to fight. Also applies to starting fights with professional boxers who could probably punch out a car, let alone idiots in a bar.
My oldest son use to tell me he didn't love me anymore and I wasn't his mom. So I gave him a taste of his own saying. I would make lunch/dinner and he would ask, ( mom where's mine?) I would act like I didn't hear him. We did this till he told me he was sorry, then I would give him his meal. Sometimes as a parent you have to show the kids what it's like not to have a 💕💕 loving parent teachers you why we do what we as parents do. We do it out of 💕💕 love.

I love that the semi driver blocked her until she could get in trouble for being asinine. I used to be married to a trucker.. and they get a bad rep...often...people do not understand what it's like to be in the driver's seat in a vehicle that big. And NO..the sides of the roads are NOT for the convenience of beating a traffic jam. She got what she deserved and I salute the driver that helped her bury herself in tickets and fines! You go! A work colleague of mine was the widowed mother of a teenage girl, that was going through a rebellious stage, one day she came home and informed her mother, that she was dropping out of school, at her wits end my colleague, asked me what she should do, I told her to tell her daughter, what my late father, once told me, that if I dropped out, I could find a job, and an apartment of my own, as he wouldn't tolerate a dropout, living under his roof! To my surprise she did so, and it worked like a charm! ( just as it did with me) in fact on the day of the girls graduation her mother brought her into my office, cap, gown and all, pointed to me, and said, " thank this man, he's the reason you're graduating today" that made my entire week!
Man the moms lucky the kid wasn't that smart or he could have turned that around. "Mom is it half the bucket of bleach or the whole thing?" "Mom theres a fire in the kitchen im going to throw water onto the oil." "Mom theres no cloths and the teachers wanna talk with you."
If he starts deliberately ruining the washing machine or setting the kitchen on fire, he's due a damn good hiding and that XBox is getting sold. As for the teachers? Well, I think after it's explained, any halfway decent teacher would be on mom's side in teaching her kid about responsibility.
My late mum and her cousin were in Florida for an art seminar. Mum is an art historian. They were sitting outside the gallery when a rather belligerent guy (BG) approached her and started taunting her for some reason. Two bikers from a well known 1% club approached to help but mum motioned them back. BG decided that a 4'11' thin woman in a Chanel suit and heels was fair game and he poked mum in the chest. That when mum turned, flipped BG over her shoulder and head-first into a garbage can. The two bikers laughed so hard they were bent double. Never underestimate a little prim and proper woman.

One of the pharmacists at my work is a bit shorter than me (about 1.6 m tall to my 1.7 m) and can't be more than 60 kg (I'm estimating as she's pretty skinny). She's ex-military and knows martial arts, and she's also a snappy dresser to boot. I've yet to see her kick someone's ass, but I'd bet on her to come out on top in a fight any day of the week. If I were to ever witness her take down, say, a 150 kg biker or linebacker, I'd probably shit bricks.
In my humble opinion, as a woman, the chick in the second story absolutely deserved what she got. Not (just) because she lied and sicced her husband on the guy, but because she attacked him first and he was defending himself. Any injuries you receive as a result of attacking someone (especially without provocation) are on you, regardless of gender. That's because any person, regardless of gender, deserves the right to self-defense.

Her husband is an idiot. I'd be asking her why she was even over there when she's supposed to be there with me and I certainly wouldn't be getting physical just because someone called her names.
My sister's ex Julio, who we are still friendly with, is a trained boxer. He's short (about 5'5") and wears baggier clothes that would have made it impossible to know. I remember a story he told me once about a trip he took to an ATM to get some money. He was at a machine with mirrors so he could see that someone was behind him. Julio must not have been looking too concerned because this guy decided he was going to try to mug him. Instead, Julio took him out with ease. I think it literally took one well placed punch to knock this dude's block off. The lesson here is to not pick fights with people because you have absolutely no way of knowing if they'll make you eat pavement.

We had a small patch of grass at the front of the house (3'x9'), to get the mower from the yard to that spot would take going out the alley and around the block, so my mom would use a pair of kitchen scissors.

That last story is a great moral lesson, the young brother must have a good sense of respect and self responsibility now and kudos to the mother for showing pride for him learning those life skills

I was so worried people were going to berate her for her choices but compared to the mom who threw all her kids things out of his second story bedroom window for sneaking out while grounded, this was completely tame. Like sure, he cried. I cry when I realize things I do to MYSELF. He needed the reality check, and I'm so happy it was done without threats and yelling. Sounds like mom knows when to be hard and when to just let life run it's course and teach her children important things. At least he was in his home, with access to necessities and care behind the scenes. It was just sans luxury. This family honestly sounds pretty decent.

Story 3: I witnessed my own instant karma with traffic a year ago. I was stopped at a red light with my dog riding shotgun. Our light turned green, so I started to pull forward. This speeding delivery van comes barreling through what was clearly a red light for him to turn left. Thankfully, everyone on my side was able to stop in time so we didn’t hit the idiot. But, there was s police cruiser also at the intersection 2 lanes over from me that I didn’t see. Flashing lights go on and that jerk gets pulled over immediately. I laughed all the way to my destination. 😂
Seen things like this. Creeping along in traffic with an impatient idiot behind me, who was apparently to close to notice the police cars at the accident ahead. Idiot pulls out aggressively and floors it, just to get waved down by the cops not long after.
I too once witnessed instant karma, at the time I was driving a school bus, in our state special education kids ( kids that have behavioral issues or high functioning Autism or slight learning disabilities) and special needs kids, ( those having physical issues or developmental issues) have to be picked up at their homes, rather than a remote stop, ( we were also having trouble, with the local chief of police, who was telling his officers, that they didn't have the time, to enforce the traffic codes, dealing with school buses and their stop arms/ flashing lights so we had quite a problem with motorists disregarding stopped school buses) well it just so happened that I had one special ed pickup on my route, that was at a home right next to the police station, one morning, I pulled up to this stop, with my stop arm, and lights activated, and the idiot behind me decided to blow right past, right in front of said police chief, who was pulling out of the station! The guy got about 10 feet before the chief nailed him! The best part was that the chief, having observed such blatant disregard for the law for himself, ordered a crack down on such violations, for the rest of that school year, every driver that was seen running a stop arm, got hammered!
Favorite, and most frequent instant Karma is when I'm driving as I normally do, the speed limit or with in 5 mph over and someone gets impatient with my safe driving and passes me. I of course always try to pull to the side to let people pass me. But if your in a single lane no pass area I sometimes get people tearing around me illegally and zipping away. The instant karma is when I see them stuck at the next traffic light. All their hurrying and road rage is for nothing. Happens all the time to me. I also don't get how they draw the line at a red light when they have already broken laws against tailgating, speeding and passing in a no pass road. All of which can get you killed if your careless.
I was at a crosswalk. My light turned green, and a guy in a giant pickup decided to tear around the corner. The only way he didn't see me was if he was looking to the left or just not at the road in general. I dodged back onto the sidewalk, and he noticed me and gave me an apology wave, but he had a cop right behind him also wanting to make that turn... lights went on before he could put his hand down, and I continued crossing the street.
I also saw an instant Karma. It was VERY foggy and there was a red Sportscar, hard to identify per the visibility, that was weaving back and forth trying to get ahead on the super slow, appropriately so, freeway. We could see him tring to zoom up, then brake hard several times. There is an off ramp we had to take that is a single lane with a rather abrupt split and then two sharpish turns. one lane going to a bridge to the west side and the left one going to the east side. There was that red sportscar, amazingly climbed up the divider and pole right where the split was, nose well in the air, back tires, only, on the ground. I'll never forget it!
3rd story reminded me of something. I’m a recent graduate of truck driving school and my instructor told me and my classmates a story about a time not long ago when he was driving down the interstate when a Karen in a Mercedes pulled up nest to him and stayed there. He quickly looked over and saw that Mercedes Karen was texting on her phone, he hit a switch that started cameras recording including the sides of the truck where you could see Karen texting. Further down the road a orange sign said left lane ends 2 miles, Mercedes Karen is on the left in the passing lane staying next too the truck and still texting. Next sign says 1 mile, Karen is still texting, then 1/2 a mile, Karen is still texting, sign says 500 feet merge right, Karen is still texting. Finally she plows into the orange barrels filled with water and stops. My instructor continued driving 10 miles past the construction zone when he saw flashing lights behind him. Apparently the story she told was the truck and forced her into the barrels and she wanted the company insurance. My instructor stated the facts then gave the footage to the officer, who after viewing it and copying it said have a nice day. Karen got additional ticket/charges for a false report.
I'm surprised no one brought up the fact that the Karen in story 2 was flirting with somebody and then complained to her HUSBAND because the guy didn't accept her advances.
She was doing it for free booze, and the attention. When she got neither, she got mad and went for a fallback plan.
She is the type to cheat on the husband mind you, but she does need something physical out of it. Gotta love entitled idiots

Story 1: I burst out laughing when OP picked out a machete for his new pruning tool. I've seen countless movies over more than 6 decades, where machetes were used to clear a path through jungles. That is a form of pruning.
Like OP I name some of my things, mainly my canes and rolling walker. Due to health issues I can no longer handle taking care of a pet, so I kind of made my mobility aids into pets. Since they help me get around I am a little fond of them, especially my rolling walker. That thing is pretty cool and makes walking and standing in place a lot easier. The fold down seat, basket, hand brakes, and ergonomic hand grips are great too.
Strayed off topic again. My bad. Did like the first story though. I loved picturing the Karen really freaking out when OP started pruning again, but with the machete.
OP's story has reminded me of a scene from Crocodile Dundee. I think he was being mugged in a subway station by a knife wielding mugger. He looks at the mugger's little knife and said "You call that a knife?" Then he pulls out his own much bigger knife and says, "Now this is a knife!"

Story 2: One of the few bar fights I was involved in when I was in my early 20's began when I accidentally bumped into somebody while leaving the counter and spilling what would have been my first beer of the night on the guy. I started to apologize and was going to offer the guy a drink on me to make ammends and the guy grabbed my throat. I'm 5'8", but I'd spent every summer since I was a teen working as a laborer for a carpenter so I'm not scrawny by any defenition. I also used to do martial arts as a fun form of excercize, so although I'm not the toughest person in the world I'm by no means a slouch. It ended about half a second later with me sitting on the guy's head telling him that he had no right to grab me like that.

The man literally asked the husband to tell her to leave him alone. The husband responded by ignoring the fact that that implied his wife was actually harassing the man, not the other way around, and instead of asking about it, decided to jump to physical.
I feel bad for people who accidentally die/kill in bar fights from pure dumb luck (one simple punch/fall can mean death, even if it isn’t incredibly hard), but that doesn’t mean I feel bad for people who get hurt in them. Enter a fight and expect to get hurt, _especially_ if you’re fighting a stranger.
She had a reputation at that bar for being a drunken, dramatic “Karen”; I doubt her husband was unaware of the type of crap she pulled.

Hahaha, it’s probably because I’m not a parent, and because I was generally obedient and good as a child and my teenage rebellion was short lived, that I didn’t actually see this coming. I don’t even remember the details of exactly what I did, I just remember screaming at my mother in the street somewhere about something I also no longer remember. I also remember being banished to my bedroom (which had never actually been an effective punishment because most of my favourite toys and whatnot were in my room so I was entirely happy to be banished there and often did so voluntarily but I never let on to that) and having dinner brought to me and being told that I was only being fed to avoid child cruelty laws. But what I do remember was that this was largely self inflicted and that a few months later after I’d matured somewhat and very, very painfully clearly was the deep embarrassment at my behaviour. Even though it’s been over 25 years.
So yeah my parents never had to do anything so extreme to discipline me at age fifteen. On the other hand once I hit sixteen I decided my bedtime so long as I was quiet but I also had to face the consequences. If I stayed up to 4am playing games online with my friends in the US and was really tired in school or college next day, that was my problem.
I soon learned to restrict late nights to Friday and Saturday night, and later to those nights when I didn’t have mornings lectures.
If you want to be treated like an adult, well you need to be able to do what adults have to do

My favourite story about bouncers actually involves my wife many years ago. We had been celebrating her birthday, and she was slightly tipsy when we arrived at the local diner for eats. The bouncer was HUGE, I mean 6ft 3in, 250lbs of wrestling muscle. My wife was 4ft 9in tall, and when we get out of the cab, we walked toward the door, then she spotted the bouncer. She stopped dead in her tracks, turns to me and says, "oooo can I take him home?". I said "Sure, just sling him over your shoulder and bung him into the cab." My sons and the bouncer just lost it completely. The bouncer actually paid for our dinner, saying it was the best laugh he had had in ages. I am still not sure to this day if she was serious or not.
That would have been even more funny to see your wife attempt that, even more, if she did manage to lift him a little bit, they do say that muscles come in small a package, in this case 4ft-9ins 😂💪

The last one with the very intelligent mom brings up a reason everyone should know the basics of cooking. You never know when you might need culinary skills. And not just because you want to be an adult but aren't quite ready. Our mom started us as soon as we were old enough to stand on a chair and could keep our hands out of the food when told to.
Three winning stories.
Last story was lovely. As a mom of a single kid who just turned a teenager , I already see issues and the need for me to handle it better. Teenagers don’t need instructions , they need lessons which a parent will have to design and deliver planning meticulously, executing graciously and making them see things lovingly.
This is an excellent motivator for the teenager to let go of his expectations. Well done, mom!

I'm a teen and my mom has taught me how to do my own laundry, we help cook on Sundays and she's gonna start teaching me money management in a bit. Definitely good to teach us youngish
My mom would have smashed the Xbox and gaslit me into believing it was my fault for making her do it and made me sleep in the barn if I questioned it.
From story 2: Why wasn't she barred from the bar? If she is know for that than do not allow her to come in. From story 4: Growing up we had one of those neighbors and one day she complained that our house needed to be re-painted. My dad agreed and since we weren't in an H O A we didn't have to follow any rules. He told all the other neighbors what he was going to do and asked for their indulgence for a short little while and they agreed. One day these painters came and painted the house. The neighbor said "Is that a color"? My dad said "It sure is and it was cheap because they had a whole warehouse full of it". Later that night is when the neighbors came out to see our house painted in glow in the dark paint.
In the Only Fools and Horses series Del Boy and Rodney paint the walls of a restaurant fluorescent green and also their Mum's Gravestone.

from sory #2 i can tell you right now that story is fake as hell. pro all the way down to golden glove boxers are not allowed to fight outside of the ring. their fists are considered deadly weapons for the simple fact they are trained to hit with such force (450 pounds-100pounds) that they can actually kill someone who isn't trained to take a punch.
Story 3 (Shoulder lane): If you have some emergency which necessitates using the shoulder lane in a traffic jam... I'm pretty sure it's still illegal, so don't do it. BUT you can call the police and see if you can get an escort, or get an ambulance (if it's a medical emergency). Being late for your salon appointment is NOT an emergency.
It's technically a dick move to be "that guy" blocking the shoulder, but in the end he was actually improving the situation for almost everybody. People cutting the line and merging back in slow everything down by disrupting the flow of traffic, causing a chain reaction because now the people in back are going even slower than they would have been. Trucker was doing everyone a favor. Even Karen, as he was preventing her from getting into a wreck... until she insisted. Whatever you say, lady. 🤣
About 20 - 25 years ago, I was on my way home on the last day of a 3 day weekend. The highway traffic was backed up for miles. It was normal for the highway I was on. Some dick decided he was too good to wait in traffic and I could see him coming up the shoulder. I moved over to block him. The car in front and behind me just maintained my space for me. When the dick finally merged back into HIS spot (nobody would let him in) I signaled and got back into line, right where I was when I started. He tried a couple more times, and the cars just saved my space for me. He finally got the hint, that he too had to wait patiently, just like the rest of us.

I have a neighbor like Wilma. After 5 calls to me about my dogs, several notices from the city about my yard, her coming up to visitors to my house to tell them to tell us about something or other or complaining to them about something in my yard and quite literally scaring them, about 15 notes on my door about something or another, and two court appearances about something she deemed unworthy about my house or people within, I finally filed a no contact order in her and threatened a harassment lawsuit. My life has been so quiet for the last 4 years.
I am just picturing someone that is angry with her banging on her door and shouting “WILMA!” like Fred Flintstone 😂😂

Similar story as the last one: I have an adult son still living at home.. He works and even worked all thru Covid as he works in a grocery store.. Mother's Day beginning of Covid...I asked him if I was to be getting my request of coffee in bed with Cinnabon flavor cream. So this is how convo goes.
Son: I don't know why i should have to bring you coffee I have to work this afternoon.
Mom: um it's mother's day?!
Son: ya so, I don't see why you get a special day, there's no kids day!
Mom:are you frigging kidding me?! EVERYDAY is kids day!
Son walks away I get no coffee.
Well that load of laundry with his chef's coat somehow never made that leap from basket to machine.
Son: Mom my coats not clean.

I then went and placed an order online to my favorite local Italian restaurant and doordashed my mother's day lunch/dinner
Son: Mom did you get me some lunch? I need to eat before work.
Mom: oops (forkfull of lasagna tasted extra sweet)
Later that night he came home ...dropped 5 snickers candy bars, a bag of peanut butter cups on the table...
Son: here Mom they didn't have any more cards out and flowers weren't looking too good.. happy Mother's day.
Next day his clothes were done, and the dinner I actually had bought him(hid in the oven) last place he would look, was packed for him at work.

About 20 years ago, I was commuting to work, and hit the usual construction traffic that starts about two miles before my exit. I was already in the right lane in preparation for the exit, behind an expensive SUV with a sunroof and a semi in front of the SUV. The dude driving the SUV got pissed because the semi did what the video’s driver did, veering into the shoulder to block anymore traffic heading for the exit. He was honking and getting more steamed, but the semi wasn’t budging. Finally, traffic opened up about a half mile before the exit and the semi pulls into the middle lane and starts speeding up. The SUV driver STOOD UP in the sunroof (while driving at around 20 mph) and tried to throw his half-full coffee cup at the semi!!! It totally missed him, but I am still flabbergasted by that to this day.
Trucker story: Yep, happened to me once. Accident ahead and 2 bikers went by on the shoulder. When I went by there were off their bikes talking to the highway patrol!
It's easier to argue with a stone then it is a Cop.

I'm a long haul trucker and see people do that a lot. One night 2 cops had a car pulled over so moved into the other lane and minivan could wait moved over from behind me and passed on my right in-between me and the 2 cop cars...yeah that went over well lol, the cop got in his car and the minivan pulled over in about 60 seconds.. hope they enjoyed their ticket 🎟 lol.
My brother drives a 30T Rotator Wrecker. He was stopped on the shoulder in a blind curve, trying to wench a semi out of a ditch. LEO had both lanes blocked to keep traffic from hindering the recovery. Well, Crazy Karen decides to do 60MPH down the shoulder, rounds the curve, and right into the back end of said wrecker. My brother was trying to hook a cable to the truck, when it suddenly left his hand. She was OK, but EMS had to cut her out of the car. She tried to sue both the wrecker company and my brother. In the end, it cost her her license for a year, over $10k in fines/court costs, and due to no insurance, paying for $45k in damages to a wrecker.
at least he wasn't behind the wrecker and had been pinned there... sadly, many rescue personnel lose their lives from it! Slow down and move over as the saying goes!
Karen on the shoulder. I was in the Branson area. Traffic at a stand still. Look in side mirror, Cadillac coming up and BAM, nailed by State Patrol. My Aunt and I laughed so hard and the Karen gave us a Lazer glare. That need me laugh harder.
Story 3 gave me a good laugh. The kind that's really low-pitched, evil, and feels good. I needed that.
The last story is a perfect way to teach an ungrateful teen responsibility.
Story 2 : What really blew me away was the next time the guy saw the Karen, she hadn't changed that behavior. For most of my life I've operated under the assumption that if someone is an insufferable asshole and pushes you too far... A jab to the nose, followed up by a few more punches in the soft spots is about all it takes.
Then again, I haven't got into a fight like that since high school. Never dealt with someone who's most likely spent their entire life in an echo chamber, surrounded by people telling them they're right all the time.
Story 2: The Karen provoked the fight and got involved in it? I am having a difficult time feeling sorry for her. It sounds like it didn't even teach her manners either.
The last story: The parents were great. Talk about being careful what you wish for. The son even learned his lesson. Great story.

Maybe I'm a mean mom, but my kids started doing their own laundry when they were about 9. That malicious compliance sounded more like teaching with natural consequences and just great parenting lol.

Heck, my mom got us all involved with laundry, house cleaning, making beds, helping in the kitchen with meal prep and definitely clean up (we rotated Mon - Fri on dishwashing and drying, sat & sun mom and dad did the dishes). Mom said, you participated in dirtying up the house and dishes, you can damn well hell with cleaning things up. You live here, you help keep it clean and tidy.

Before I moved into my university dorm, I'm the only one who helps with all the housework while my younger sister acts like the brother in the story. Now that I'm 11 hours away, she had to take over my responsibilities. The first few weeks comprises of her frantically calling me during class because she didn't know how to turn on the washing machine, how to use the rice cooker, how to feed the cats, how to clean the litterbox, how to use the vacuum cleaner, how to prepare mop water, etc. I think she's doing fine now, but I did hear her suggesting giving away the cats every now and then.

That story about the guys neighbor, calling cops, the city, whatever she was doing. She called the city just after a storm, the people were there fixing the damage, and the city worker didn't even just say, Ok good to see you getting it fixed. Take care have a nice day? Dear lord... that crap makes all us city workers look like morons. Also, when she demanded that he change the clolour of the house, if that had been me, I would have laughed at her, then told her to eat what the dog leaves in the yard.

Story 3: I've seen this a lot, where people will go flying up a shoulder because they feel like they don't have to stop and wait like everyone else. That said, trying to block them usually results in me getting yelled at, flipped off, etc

What drives me nuts at a dual carriageway (a road that has two lanes, one for overtaking usually with a speed limit of 40mph) close to where I live that has had major roadworks going on there for the last three years. I honestly have no idea what they’re working on but it involves huge concrete pipes that I could probably walk through at the highest point without ducking my head. But often it means that a series of cones are deployed to merge two lanes into one.
As you can imagine given it connects a network of roads from a major motorway that’s basically a major artery for the south west of England, with a direct route into my city which is again a major UK city, at certain times of day these lane merges really cause massive traffic jams. And for the vast majority of drivers, we see the temporary signs warning of the merge ahead and resign ourselves to spending the next 10-15 minutes in a queue to get past the roadworks. Beyond the sign you can see that an orderly queue has formed in the lane that’s not being merged with cones and dutifully join the back of it because that’s only fair.
What pisses me off is that every so often some absolute entitled jackasses continue driving down the other lane skipping several minutes of queue, reach the cones merging the lanes and then basically push into the front of the queue amongst the drivers that have politely waited their turn. What’s infuriating is that the polite drivers *let them* push in! If they just carefully stayed close to the car in front and held their nerve there’s no way for the car to fit into the gap to push in.
I started out merely doing that myself, absolutely refusing to give in and let the jackass into the space in front of me. But after awhile, during the rare occasions that I forget how bad traffic is that time of day or just can’t avoid it, I now do what the OP does once I reach the back of the queue-position my car squarely in the middle and thus block both lanes. If I have to queue, so does everyone else. This isn’t a hard shoulder and I can move back in if an emergency vehicle comes.
And ensure all my car doors are locked. So far I’ve only gotten honked at, yelled at and sworn at. But some people can go crazy with road rage enough to make me feel in danger. But that’s a story for another day.

In that time, I saw 6 different cars blocking entire lanes because they wanted to merge, but the open spot wasn't "good enough" for them, so they kept moving forward, or they had waited until the last minute expecting people to let them in. One was blocking me from being able to exit the highway, just to save what? A minute maybe?

As a trucker, you gotta do what it takes to make roads safe. I've even been taking a right turn and people have driven over the curb and onto the sidewalk to make a right turn "first". Do what it takes to make sure people don't slam into the side of your semi.

That kid learned a valuable lesson in life about being an adult, we all want to stay up all night, playing video games, BUT, we still have to wake up and do adult things. Both me and my sister knew how to cook, do laundry, and most things by his age, while I wasn't, and still not, a big fan of cooking, I'm still able to. Also, he should be lucky his parents didn't do what mine did to me as an adult, and that's wake me up every morning, and yell at me saying "You need to get on a sleep schedule" only for me to end up getting a job where I spend most of my shifts working nights. These days, I still stay up until 11PM, and wake up around 06:30 AM days I work. Being an adult sucks, but at least he learned his lesson.
If I have to pull an all nighter, often for work, I look at what my schedule is the next day and adjust accordingly.
I. E. if I need to work overnight and don't have to work until 2pm and it takes me an hour to get to the office, I work until 2/3am and then sleep until 12/12:30

I had an acquaintance pop by for a visit a while back. She saw the handle of my athame and asked “is that a knife?” I answered in the affirmative and pulled it out to show her, deliberately pointed away from her. Its blade is almost 8” long and has jagged embellishments along the spine. She got this wide-eyed look like she was afraid and asked me to put it away. I did, then explained it’s for ritual purposes only, and is never used to stab or cut anything. Some people can get very silly about knives.
My AL was named Randall. So lucky to have had him as a neighbor.
Oh the stories from when I was suckered into working security at clubs..the best and long running ine involves a mirror wall next to the exit and a bar. Sometimes, the drunks will start out being all nice to their reflection, gesturing for it to go through..only for the reflecting to mirror what they are doing. Then they stsrt throwing punches, which is when security steps in. Happens almost every single night, even with regulars. And they always demand that we throw out the reflection.
Our neighbors wait patiently for holloween each year to see what new addtions are added to our yard. Last year was a skeletal mermaid and her daughter caught in a net holding hands.

The last story: I remember the first time I stayed up late. My mom said 10pm was MY bedtime. Being the youngest, I thought this sucked. So mom said I could stay up as long as I wanted but still had to get up by 7am for school. I fell asleep in front of the TV after everyone else went to bed at 11pm. Mom woke me up at 7am for school. My neck and back ached from sleeping on the couch. But I wasn't allowed to whine about it to the teachers, and she wasn't going to pick me up if I said I was sick. That school day was the longest I ever had. When I got home, I wasn't allowed to just crash. I had to do my homework and help with the dishes after dinner. I went to bed at 8pm that night. After that, my bedtime was the same as everyone else's, 11pm.

There's this revenge story where OP and his mother were abused by everyone in their hometown, and years later OP eventually shut down the factory that was the pillar of the town's economy, effectively destroying the town and ruining countless lives and families. Totally qualifies as nuclear for me, yet it was listed as pro.
There's something there, for everyone.
Story 3: I was a little surprised at the trucker saying his company was too cheap to pay for dash cams. Dash cams are cheap nowadays and a trucker's best protection against insurance fraud - and truckers are the favorite target of the fraudsters.
To be fair, the story could've been from several years ago before dash cams were more affordable.
OP should have put in a restraining order against Wilma for all her harassment. Also, the city came out threatening fines due to damage from a storm from the day before. Glad I don't live there; I like my lawn being shaggy.

30 years ago, my father and I were driving across the country to Pennsylvania to pick up his aunt. We no sooner cross the state line into Indiana when traffic was being condensed into one lane on the interstate. Traffic was at a slow crawl and the line was as far as we could see. Suddenly, this impatient jackass in a minivan was tearing down the shoulder of the road like it was a personal driving lane, the semi a few cars ahead nudges over so they cannot pass him. The minivan driver is pissed, he's laying on his horn and just acting like an entitled asshole. We slowly move along and suddenly the semi moves fully back into the road and the minivan driver thinks he's won. No such luck, there's a bridge coming up and the shoulder is about to end. So, Mr.Minivan tries to bully himself a place in the lane. Nobody lets him in. As we slowly drive past him, he's screaming and yelling in his vehicle at everyone for not letting him in. You can see veins pulsing in his neck and forehead, as if consequences don't apply to him. I'm in the passenger seat, I laugh at him and flip him off as we drive by.
There were a couple of really bad wrecks along I-435 on some days that had the Interstate backed up bumper to bumper for miles. It caused a backup spilling back onto I-470 and he logjam of cars went all the way back to the MO 50 and 350 highway interchange, and there were a few idiots who decided to use the shoulder to pass everyone by. IDK what happened if they got busted driving on the shoulder, as it took about two hours for us to reach our intended exit due to how bad the traffic was

I was just as disrespectful as the kid in the last MC and my mum taught me humility and self reliance as the mom did. the boy is going to grow into adulthood with the same life skills and be far better for it. Kudos to the mom for doing so.
I had to use my sword collection to trim brush back. I dressed up in my chain mail and tabard put on a helm, grabbed my broadsword and attacked the brush. My neighbors were laughing as I hacked away. When I was done I proclaimed "NI!!"

Bruh I’m still learning how to drive and during one of my lessons a motorcyclist passed me on the right while a bunch of other motorcyclists passed on the left. It stressed me out so much
As a 16 year old kid on a small Honda, I once heard a rumbling. A large group of bikers on Harleys came up around me. I'm about to crap myself. One rough looking biker looks at me, gives me a nod and they rumble on down the road. I later learned most bikers are cool.
I used to regularly trim the trees/shrubbery with my Oakshott X1 type medieval sword.

My mom taught us girls (4 of us) how to clean, do laundry and feed ourselves starting at the early age of 6 years old. Now I’m the 90s and early 2000s top loaders we’re the machines. My youngest sister had the benefit of front loader washers when she started learning. The stove was 10-12 age range because of height and reach and then the oven was the teenage years. I learned a lot growing up from fixing simple cracks in the wall or floor to tuning up an old vehicle. My moms friend had a car and it finally died when her youngest was 16. Her oldest was 26. There was no such thing as throwing away old clothes if they could be sewn. Tables can be refinished and stained and tile can be scrub and washed. We lived a pretty hard simple life where I started working at 13 before the working age changed and helped my mom’s friend with her car. The only thing she left out was how to drive!🤣
You want to be treated "like an adult"? OK, we'll treat you like an adult. No more wake-up calls, no more meals cooked for you, no more doing your laundry. I love it!

for story 2, if you're having a true emergency call 911 full stop. Driving on the shoulder is putting you, whoever you're driving, and everyone around you in danger. Debris on the shoulder may not be visible (like nails) and could pop your tire causing you to lose control of the vehicle. Not to mention that no one is expecting you to be there so they could pull out suddenly. There's a reason it's illegal. Don't do it.

My oldest son use to tell me he didn't love me anymore and I wasn't his mom. So I gave him a taste of his own saying. I would make lunch/dinner and he would ask, ( mom where's mine?) I would act like I didn't hear him. We did this till he told me he was sorry, then I would give him his meal.
Sometimes as a parent you have to show the kids what it's like not to have a 💕💕 loving parent teachers you why we do what we as parents do. We do it out of 💕💕 love.

I love that the semi driver blocked her until she could get in trouble for being asinine. I used to be married to a trucker.. and they get a bad rep...often...people do not understand what it's like to be in the driver's seat in a vehicle that big. And NO..the sides of the roads are NOT for the convenience of beating a traffic jam. She got what she deserved and I salute the driver that helped her bury herself in tickets and fines! You go! Thank you for your malicious compliance! whoooo!

A work colleague of mine was the widowed mother of a teenage girl, that was going through a rebellious stage, one day she came home and informed her mother, that she was dropping out of school, at her wits end my colleague, asked me what she should do, I told her to tell her daughter, what my late father, once told me, that if I dropped out, I could find a job, and an apartment of my own, as he wouldn't tolerate a dropout, living under his roof! To my surprise she did so, and it worked like a charm! ( just as it did with me) in fact on the day of the girls graduation her mother brought her into my office, cap, gown and all, pointed to me, and said, " thank this man, he's the reason you're graduating today" that made my entire week!
Man the moms lucky the kid wasn't that smart or he could have turned that around.

If he starts deliberately ruining the washing machine or setting the kitchen on fire, he's due a damn good hiding and that XBox is getting sold. As for the teachers? Well, I think after it's explained, any halfway decent teacher would be on mom's side in teaching her kid about responsibility.
