I plan to transition to D5 Render soon. Lumion doesn't quite strike the right balance between quality and price. D5 offers a wider range of superior options at a very reasonable price for the Pro version.

The subscription for Lumion 2024 PRO now in the US $125/month while D5 PRO is only 38 bucks a month and only 30 bucks a month if you pay for the whole year. Lumion doesn't even give us the option of paying by the month either...just 1 lump sum. Many of the features in D5 seem so far ahead of Lumion as far as I can tell initially. I see features in D5 that I can't believe Lumion does not have considering they have been around 10 or 11 more years than D5. It's making me want to learn D5 more now so I can switch and not renew my Lumion subscription. 2024 is a great improvement from 2012 but still not on par with what D5 has. It is a shame because Lumion is so intuitive and easy to use, but until they start really bumping up their features, it's hard to justify spending that money when D5 can do much of the same.

There are missing features that in Blender are called "shadow cacher" and in Vray "wrapper". Today I laughed because even though it is comparable to d5 render the price is not comparable at all. I especially see it in your comments where people ask about the comparison and which one is better. But the price divides a big gap. I would love to work in the new Lumion, but at the price of the d5 render. In addition, for me the fastest option at the moment is Chaos Vantage especially since it already has the option to export from corona render. Lumion 2023 and 2024 are disasters. The intrinsic quality of the RT renderer is very good, but it's far from good enough.
    Too many bugs
    Too expensive
    Too slow
    Hundreds of aging assets
An outdated UX/UI that can't be modernized.
Outdated functionalities that are never updated
Development has drastically slowed down - nothing happens except the annual update.
They never listen to their community
They offer no videos/tutorials/resources for their users.
    etc...
I could go on and on....after 8 years with lumion I know this software inside out.
In short, it's the perfect example of the former No. 1, which dominated the market but has now been overtaken by the younger generation, more reactive, more innovative, more in tune with the times.
D5 is now superior to Lumion in almost every respect, and is developing at such a fast pace that Lumion will never be able to catch up. IA and Patchtracing will be the final nail in the coffin.
