I believe the individual in the trailer is definitely human, probably a new character. Apprentice, acolyte, Sith Lord? No clue… But their master? Plagueis and Tenebrous, sign me up for that plot of land on that hill.
The most interesting thing about people trying to gauge who the new sithes by basing it off of the old sit that we know is that everyone is still using legends as reference material. For comparison, while they both share the same name and did overall very similar things, the Darth Bane from Legends looks an acts completely nothing like the Canon version. I think it’s Darth tenebrous this is because if we think about it, pleaugies makes no sense. This is because at the time of Phantom Menace Pleaugies is super important to the galaxy. Like at this point, he’s head of the banking clan. If Yoda is grandmaster of the Jedi order at this time he wouldn’t allowed someone who died important who is the Sith Lord to live
Remember how Lucas's "Underworld" show was going to explore the roots of how Palpatine got duped by a woman who is aligned with the dark side? The period the story takes place in is right for the rise of Darth plagueis, that's still where my money is.
I think that we won’t see an actual Sith (yet), but someone like Ventress or the Inquisitors: an aspiring Sith, neither official master or apprentice, hence “acolyte.” Secretly, the Sith Master might already be tutoring them, but to the Jedi, they will be just a dark sider who maybe got a bit of Sith teachings via some artifact, e.g. an old holocron
It could even be the Apprentice doing the tutoring. That's a bit of a theme in Rule of Two line, the Apprentice not even waiting for the master to die before picking their own Apprentice
I just finished watching The Force Awakens and one thing that stood out was that Maz has been managing her cantina for over 1k years. I wonder if we would see Maz again since she has lived through the rise and fall of the Sith
The acolyte series looks absolutely sick and i share the excitement about how it doesnt revolve around the skywalker saga but i do gotta say that i definitely would love to see Darth Nihilus be apart of this series
Im betting its a Sith pretender, someone who was force sensitive and decided to take mantle. Maybe a dark jedi or a force sensitive child that had am ancient sith training holocron.
Remember the title said a 100 years before the rise of the empire so you have to subtract 13 years for the difference between revenge of the smith and the phantom menace so Darth plagues is actually around 28 not 15 years old
The jedi winning in the end would ruin it for me. A true antagonist needs to be a menacing, and dominant force. I would like to see the jedi build the strength over a couple seasons in order to survive.
I am of the opinion that the person that is using the red lightsaber is not of the sith but just a new dark side user. What would be crazy and a nice Easter egg would be the Jedi meeting a sith hiding in plain sight and not realizing that they are a sith. Just a casual name drop for the fans to know that they are a sith but the Jedi characters have no clue.
Palpatine being the center of all these new Star Wars movies and shows sucks. He's not a super powerful enemy if Rey can defeat him. Stakes are too low with him.
The number of dislikes for the trailer on the Disney RUclips Channel outmatches the number of likes! The hate is real! Not sure why as nobody saw more than this trailer ... Madness of crowds I guess!
The thing to remember is not all Dark Side users are Sith there are people who used the Dark Side of the Force but that doesn't automatically make them sith e.g Maul, Savage, Dagan Gera, The Inquisators, Asajj Ventress, The Nightsisters, Taron Mallicos, The Frangawl Cult and The Son
Obi Wan did say “Anakin was deceived by a lie, we all were”. So how many lies were they told between the truth about Palpatine and the Sith being encountered and hidden.
I think new character is absolutely the most likely with a super young Plagues reveal toward the end. I’m also fully expecting the reason for the Sith’s revenge to be more deeply explored on screen
If the character wielding the red lightsaber is an original character (either a Sith or darksider) I will be happy with that. But deep down, I would love it if we do get Darth Tenebrous and Darth Plagueis. Remember, Leslie Headlend has mentioned that way may material from Legends brought into canon. Where better to start than with the Sith.
I think that the red light saber belongs to a fallen Jedi trying to prove himself to the Sith. So technically, he wasnt a Sith, and the Jedi could believe that he was just a delusional Jedi, that still believed in the existence of the Sith. And so it cut to the Sith lord laughing about how his plan is working and so on...
The usual suspects shouldn't be primary or even secondary characters, but, cameos and mentions are appreciated. Just as long as they don't show up and save the day.
Do we even know that Darth Plagueis is even canonically Palpatine’s master? Ofc that seems implied in ROTS but is never explicitly stated in the film. Does any other source confirm that the so-called Sith legend was really just the story of Palps and his master rather than a true legend?
I think that particular saber in the trailer is being used by someone who is Sith Adjacent but not in the Rule of Two, like an assassin or servant(kinda like maul in the Plagueis Book).
The one is holding the red saber has a black hand. Could be a relative of Mae since in SW description she has a complicated role playing in both light as a former padawan and dark - could be her lineage.
Yoda knew about the Rule of Two and Bane's role in creating it. Qui-Gon didn't seem to know as much, believing Maul was simply trained in "Jedi Arts". The Jedi probably met quite a few who were being manipulated by the Sith but weren't actually Sith.
During the High republic timeline, the artifacts they find are "force artifacts" so they won't be labeled jedi or sith artifacts. Though they sometimes feel them as "darkness" if they are not aligned to the light.
I wish that there was a time period where the Darkside has been ruling for a long while and grew in numbers. Meanwhile, there's two jedis left and take the sith out one by one.
My guess is that it’s the secret apprentice of the current Sith apprentice. Just like Palpatine was training Maul before killing Plagueis. That would leave it open for the Jedi to kill him in the series finale, thinking the problem had been dealt with while the actual Sith maintain their cover.
Since The Acolyte has officially been said to take place 100 years before The Phantom Menace (32BBY), then it makes its action take place...around 132 BBY ; therefore Darth Tenebrous (and perhaps his master ?) would very much be around and kicking (at least in Legends), since he died in 67 BBY... We'll see !
I hope it’s Nihilis. One of the trailers the red light saber says “I am death.” Hoping that is a hint to the Bhagavad-Gita where Vishnu says “the destroyer of worlds.” They don’t finish it but maybe I am being hopeful.
Probably gonna be another fallen Jedi and Council covers it up to avoid the galaxy thinking the Jedi have lost their way as an organization. Either way I'm looking forward to finding out
Although I agree it’s great to see another era in the SW universe, I feel connecting it in a minor way to the era we know and love is a good idea. Having the Sith Lord being Plaguies is the way to go. It’s such a minor connection that won’t ruin a new era of the universe
We can still expand the galaxy with new characters while still seeing familiar ones. The Acolyte isn't going to suddenly stop being the first liveaction show outside the Skywalker Saga just because we spend some time with preexisting characters when it absolutely makes sense for them to be there. To act like it will is a little closed minded and short sighted. Say Yoda has a supporting role in this series (just as an example), he appears in a couple of scenes across a few of the episodes but the focus and emotional core remains with the new cast. That is still expanding the franchise in a major way. While I do hope the show is mostly new, a bit of familiarity isn't going to kill the show's significance. I personally have no skin in the game as to who is holding the red lightsaber. If it turns out to be Tenebrous or Plagueis, I will be pysched but I'm just as fine if it is a brand new Sith character. But I'm also not definitely say it is a Sith because yeah, you don't need to be a Sith to bleed a kyber crystal and make a red lightsaber. I'm going into Legends here and obviously kyber bleeding wasn't a thing then but there were numerous dark side Force users who had red lightsabers prior to The Phantom Menace and the Jedi aren't going to see a red blade and react as the fandom are and go "Oh that must be a Sith right?" because they would know that as well. What made Maul stand out to Qui-Gon wasn't the red lightsaber, it was Maul's skill with it. He matched the proficiency of a Jedi with the weapon, something Qui-Gon believed was only achievable by a Sith Lord. I'm just really hoping we don't get a story where the Jedi hide an encounter with the Sith. Wanting that IS ragging on the Jedi too much and respectfully, sounds like projecting. So many stories criticise the Jedi and highlight their flaws and shortcomings and I'm not opposed to challenging them as characters and highlighting their flaws from time to time but that feels like all Star Wars has been doing for a good few years now and not balancing it with showing us the good that the Jedi do in spite of their flaws. I believe that George was trying to convey in the prequels. That people or groups like the Jedi Order can still be good while also being imperfect, a nuance that sadly is often lost on the fandom. There's now a rush to vilify the Jedi within the fandom at every turn. I am very excited for this series but it needs to be very careful in how it portrays the Jedi so I sincerelt hope they won't go "Ooh the Jedi covered this up, look how bad they are" in this. That may not be the intention of Leslye and the writers because I have faith in how she will approach this storybut that is how that will read with people watching it. Too many in the fandom that the Jedi *deserved* Order 66 and that's something I strongly think Star Wars needs to address. The fall of the Jedi is a tragedy. It was always intended to be a tragedy and SW desperately needs to remind people of that. It's concerning that this franchise will humanise Imperials and those who would oppress and subjugate the galaxy and crush innocents under their boot, but not the victims of a genocide and a conspiracy to wipe them out, which the Jedi are, whether their institution lost their way or not. It's long past time they showed them as such.
Given that the show is literally called "The Acolyte," I'm personally leaning toward it being a non-Sith dark side practitioner, but I'm open to being wrong 🤷♀
If it’s an actual Sith, it has to be Tenebrous. Unless he had an apprentice before Plagueis. There’s also the chance that it could be a Maul type character who was trained in the dark side but was only seen as an assassin by Plagueis and Sideous. I don’t like the idea of the Jedi lying about the Sith being gone. It makes the Jedi look worse and cheapens the Sith Grand plan. Tenebrous and Plagueis hid in plain sight and killed Jedi without being discovered. It makes for a better storytelling.
Sol literally says in the opening that our eyes can deceive us, and that we should not trust them. As the padewans in the background of the shot literally change as he walks past in the foreground… Anyone else catch that yet?
Revan is like 3000 years before this story. Could he show up in a holocron or something? Sure. Would it be amazing? Yes. But man, try not to get so outlandish people. It can lead to disappointment. I do hope we see or at least hear Tenabrous' name in the series, hell.....maybe season 2. But I am so excited for a CLEAN SLATE of storytelling, and new characters!
We should also not forget that, the minute he tells them he faced a sith, Qui-Gon gets immediately shut down by the council.

Maybe it is a flashback to the “last” appearance of the Sith?
But everyone already knew the Sith had to still have existed during that millennium except Ki-Adi-Mundi 😂
I think there’s a possibility of the story being Plagueis being accepted as Sith Apprentice; and maybe future seasons we see him become the master.
I just finished watching The Force Awakens and one thing that stood out was that Maz has been managing her cantina for over 1k years. I wonder if we would see Maz again since she has lived through the rise and fall of the Sith
It's probably something really simple, like it's the witch we see earlier, Mother Aniseya.
The acolyte series looks absolutely sick and i share the excitement about how it doesnt revolve around the skywalker saga but i do gotta say that i definitely would love to see Darth Nihilus be apart of this series
I'm not going to speculate, I want the story to unfold before me with no preconceptions.
Leslie Headland said that any characters we already know will not make any appearances until season 2.
7:19, or the murderer kills all the witnesses and they all become "lost jedi" who went MIA on assignment and were never heard from or seen ever again.
Im betting its a Sith pretender, someone who was force sensitive and decided to take mantle. Maybe a dark jedi or a force sensitive child that had am ancient sith training holocron.
“Revan” whoever made that claim has some serious TikTok brain rot
Remember the title said a 100 years before the rise of the empire so you have to subtract 13 years for the difference between revenge of the smith and the phantom menace so Darth plagues is actually around 28 not 15 years old
The jedi winning in the end would ruin it for me. A true antagonist needs to be a menacing, and dominant force. I would like to see the jedi build the strength over a couple seasons in order to survive.
please let sith win this time 😢
I am of the opinion that the person that is using the red lightsaber is not of the sith but just a new dark side user. What would be crazy and a nice Easter egg would be the Jedi meeting a sith hiding in plain sight and not realizing that they are a sith. Just a casual name drop for the fans to know that they are a sith but the Jedi characters have no clue.
Maybe it could be another apprentice of Plagueis who is later replaced by Sidious who himself had three different apprentices.
Whose master had another apprentices
The Acolyte - Season 1:The Secret of the Mystery of the Puzzle of the Death of Jedi
There’s only one person that could be holding that red lightsaber. You guessed it…Frank Stallone.
I personally think the acolyte is a potential apprentice for Darth Gean after her events against Darth Gravid
Who says it has to be a Sith at all?
Knights of Ren maybe? They seem like the kind of people to one day just decide that they want to kill some Jedi
@@Psub950this takes place before the phantom menace 🙄
@@supersaiyannigga5980 That doesn't change the fact that it could be the Knights of Ren there a pretty old group
100% spot on and love the premise of venturing outside the Skywalker saga.
Palpatine being the center of all these new Star Wars movies and shows sucks. He's not a super powerful enemy if Rey can defeat him. Stakes are too low with him.
It be cool to see Master Yaddle in this show.
there were probably a couple of Sith hiding out during the High Republic Era.
but my best guess is that its going to be a non-sith Dark Side user.
Two Sith exactly. And you're probably right that neither of them is showing up in this show.
what if somehow palpatine preturns?
The number of dislikes for the trailer on the Disney RUclips Channel outmatches the number of likes!
The hate is real! Not sure why as nobody saw more than this trailer ... Madness of crowds I guess!
It is definitely NOT Sheev Palpatine. It's what? 200 years before?!
If Tenebrous shows up in any fashion, I will scream. That’d be so fuckin cool
I think it's darth plagueis's mother who was darth tenebrous acolyte
Agree 100%. A new character makes the most sense and is the most interesting.
It’s going to be someone new to subvert expectations
Could be an earlier apprentice of Tenebrous, who dies and is later replaced by Plagueis
Its one of the mothers.
I hope it is a revamped darth tenembrus and they keep plagueis relatively the same.
I hope it’s either Tenebrous, Plageuis or whoever Tenebrous’ master was….
Don't forget that Tenebrous made a clone of himself to challenge Plagiues
Really? Where is that from
@@ville6515 the Novel, Darth Plagious
Darth Tenebrous was alive during that era. To my knowledge, he never had direct conflict with the Jedi.
Honestly I’m super excited to have brand NEW Star Wars characters to get invested in! New faces are incredibly exciting and I can’t wait.
I think they’ll canonize Darth Bane as the person that originated the Rule of Two but the influence of that could be from Revan and Malak.
Good point
I think that particular saber in the trailer is being used by someone who is Sith Adjacent but not in the Rule of Two, like an assassin or servant(kinda like maul in the Plagueis Book).
You ask “Who was holding the red lightsaber at the end?” But what I really want to know is who actually cares?
Could we Maz Kanata's castle appear at some point?
The one is holding the red saber has a black hand. Could be a relative of Mae since in SW description she has a complicated role playing in both light as a former padawan and dark - could be her lineage.
Has anyone thought about the possibility of Darth Vectivis?
That’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. A long time.
Funny how whoever is holding that red light saber is holding it in the exact manner that Luke was holding his green saber in The Mandalorian.
It’s a pretty basic pose
@@ilikemandalorians9861 True. Just reminded of it.
@@dirtyhawkstv1575 ah, sorry I was still in conspiracy mode 😂
@ilikemandalorians9861 ha. No I'm not suggesting anything.
Maybe it's a dark jedi, a jedi that turns to the dark side. They are not siths, and there are a lot of them in legends
Can we stop for just a moment and appreciate that Hedland used the phrase “EU” instead of “Legends?”
This is when Yoda finds out about the Rule of Two. It seems that he told Mace Windu and they are the only ones that know.
I feel attacked 😂
Since The Acolyte has officially been said to take place 100 years before The Phantom Menace (32BBY), then it makes its action take place...around 132 BBY ; therefore Darth Tenebrous (and perhaps his master ?) would very much be around and kicking (at least in Legends), since he died in 67 BBY...
We'll see !
Darth Tenebrous is a possibility but I would like to see a new Sith Lord entirely
Im going to give this video a like for simply not being a grifter video.
I hope it’s Nihilis. One of the trailers the red light saber says “I am death.” Hoping that is a hint to the Bhagavad-Gita where Vishnu says “the destroyer of worlds.” They don’t finish it but maybe I am being hopeful.
i think Carrie Ann moss holding the red lightsaber would be awesome. I feel she could play a great star wars "villian"
What if it’s an apprentice and the end of the series shows Plagueis becoming Tenebrous’ new apprentice 👀
Thank you for this video.
My prediction is that the "Sith" apprentice is Mae's twin sister.
Could be some new interesting character with excellent development and dialog. But... no it'll be Yoda again but red this time or something.
