@@ericlondon2663nah, the Jedi use the force in a way that doesn’t put it out of balance, by following the will of the force. The Sith impose their own will on the force, manipulating and suppressing the force to their will, using it to gain power and follow their own selfish path.
This is the dark side, it’s a way of using the force, not a part of the force itself - the dark-side puts the force out of balance, and the force views it like a cancer that has to be removed.
Jedi give in to the force, and try and follow the will of it. This doesn’t put the force out of balance at all. You could have a million Jedi and the force would remain in balance .
Just one dark side user and the force is out of balance again. Got nothing to do with Jedi, nor numbers.

    • @ob1spyker
      @ob1spyker 3 месяца назад +1

The stone isn’t flammable but there are plenty of items in the fortress that are. If you look very closely in the scenes there seems to be plenty of wood on the floors and the walls could have material on it for decoration that is flammable. These are typical design elements of stone castles. Also look at the scene where Osha and Sol flee through a courtyard, the outer walls weren’t burning. Fire was only scattered throughout the courtyard. In the room where all the witches are dead, there is no fire seen in that room, just a glow from something else burning. What we don’t know. When they pull away from the fortress to see the full fire, the stone facades are not burning. Fire is only seen in specific places … not covering all the outer walls and all the stone.
Castles burn, stone castles burn, stone fortresses burn, but it’s not the actual stone that burns, it’s everything else inside that burns that eventually destroys the castle/fortress and anyone in there. The fire and the heat destabilizes the stone and destroys its supports. Think about extinguishing systems. There would be little to none there to slow the spread of the fire because there is probably no large enough water source to specifically counteract a fire. Even today with all our advances, a fire in a castle can be devastating. In medieval times fires could definitely destroy a castle and all those in it.
The biggest issue I have is the start of the fire in Osha’s room and how it spread across the floor. I would assume the door is an electrical fire but there would need to be something on the floors that would react with the fire for it to encroach on her in the way it did. Maybe an epoxy of some sort, or maybe the floors in that room were only meant to look like stone and were something else that would give comfort to the girls walking over them. Point is you don’t know what was actually burning because you don’t actually know the make up of the items that did burn.
On top of all this, we still don’t know what caused the fire to spread so fast. What actually killed the witches. Was there force lightning involved or some supernatural force fire? We don’t know yet.
Thanks to the power of streaming you can actually go back and rewatch the scenes and if you are able to look past your biases you should be able to see what I’m saying.

Not necessarily a betrayal. The Witch Cult from Acolyte is who knows how many centuries old. They have a different interpretation of the Force and their abilities come from an entirely different understanding of it. The same way Nightsister magic is different than Jedi powers. In Legends Jacen Solo traveled the galaxy and visited many different Force using cultures that had abilities/perspectives outside the Jedi/Sith. Sometimes someone else with a completely different understanding of a topic can come with ideas and solutions that a traditional approach would NEVER have dreamed of.

This. I'd love to actually see what story the writers would have told and if/how it ties into either legends or canon before judging whether it makes sense or not and season 1 was clearly not written to answer all of these concerns. I think they wrote it to take at least 2 seasons to reveal why almost anything in the show is the way that it is.
As for Plagueis, my working assumption right now is that he may have been inspired in some way by what the witches did but maybe not. He could have been inspired by observing to witches in the way that Iroh, a Firebender in Avatar, was inspired to develop a technique for redirecting lightning from observing Waterbenders. A shift in perspective can be a clue to innovation, but ignoring that I don't think what the witches in Acolyte did is exactly like Anakin anyway.
The "reveal" in the finale that Sol tried to communicate was that the "twins" aren't "twins" but a single person somehow split into two parts and I suspect those two parts are naturally aligned to the light and dark sides of the force in a kind of Yin-Yang relationship and the ascension ritual the Jedi interrupted prevented this. That could be a clue to address some of the concerns. Plagueis manipulated the force in an unnatural way to tilt it to the dark, to bend it unnaturally to one side and in response the Force itself created a chosen one to balance itself but the witches in the Acolyte didn't create just a dark person, they created a dark person and a light person in balance. I *assume* the ultimate resolution of the series would have been that Osha and Mae have to re-integrate or... something bad happens? Additionally I think what Sol was getting at was that both the vegetation on the planet and the feat of the witches weren't "easy" canon-breaking accomplishments but specifically facilitated by the presence of a "vergence" in the force. I don't think they could have done it on their own if they weren't on the planet and apparently vergences are mythically uncommon. Future episodes of the show could reveal any reason why that vergence was either unknown or inaccessible to Plagueis, assuming, as we are, that he did have no role in the creation or inspiration of the twins--we don't know because the show didn't get a chance to reveal his involvement.
Interestingly, I never looked up the definition of "vergence". Per Wikipedia: "A vergence is the simultaneous movement of both eyes in opposite directions to obtain or maintain single binocular vision"
I think that's very in line with the story of the twins and the idea of balance in the force but I'm sad that I'll never get to judge the completed story for its merits because the story tellers weren't allowed to tell it to completion because viewers couldn't suspend their disbelief long enough to hear it all.

    Well... Several things:
    - Which parts of Plaegis story is Canon?
    - how do you know in canon (because the acolyte now is) it does not tie to the retconned story of Plaegis? Retcon is not new in star wars.
    - how do you know the creation of Osha and Mae was easy? They never said it was. They only inferred they did create the girls through magic.
    - how do you draw conclusions without the whole show?
You can tag your take as star wars theory, but it's only that up to the point we get the whole story.
I love your content and I don't get why you take the part of the haters here. It's a a star wars show. From a cibematographic perspective, it's average, but it does not deserve the shit storm it got, especially because it's being judged without the whole thing.
It get it for the technical parts. We got enough to judge it. I don't get it for the story part though. Storytelling is average, but the whole concept can't be judged at this point, and certainly not to the extent it had been for several weeks.

Well first of all-They do imply it was relatively easy simply by showing that they were able to do it so young (especially compared to someone like Plagueis)
but more importantly, despite the Plagueis novel NOT being canon, it doesn’t change much, because we still have children being indirectly conceived by the force. Fairly SIMPLY. The Jedi also come to KNOW OF THEM and their origins, so why do they never…think anything of it?? This is 100 years before Anakin and they just…say nothing about it

The review bombing of the Acolyte probably puts into jeopardy the next SW shows.
I get it's not a absolute amazing show. People might not like it and that's fair. But this is harassment from a really loud minority. I would say to them, if you dot like it, don't watch it. But they do watch it and shi* on it. It's so sad.

Personally, I don't feel the children were born from The Force but was more a an action of Reciprocal IVF, or Star War's version of it. An action that may in fact itself be illegal within the High Republic. The fact that Osha and Mae don't seem to have any of Koril's DNA, seems to reflect and speak to that action having taken place.
Neither Osha and Mae seem to be very affluent with The Force as well, speaking to a potentially average midichlorian count at best, my guess is maybe 5000 to 6500 on the count. So they are no Anakin.

It's possible they used the force to directly create the twins but it's also possible they may have used some kind of banned cloning tech. The mothers never directly say they were created using the force only that they didn't want the Jedi to find out how they were created. Maybe it was something more akin to modern cloning tech which involves injecting genetic material from a donor into an emptied out host egg cell. Maybe they did something closer to that then somehow used the force to ensure the girls had Force sensitivity. This was not a good episode but it seems like everyone is jumping to conclusions on a series that has said from the beginning that it is trying to mislead the audience. How about we give it time and learn a little patience like good Padawans? The series may very well end up being trash. I think one of the biggest problems with it is they have overestimated the audience. They have assumed the audience would be patient and wait for the narrative to unfold, but they were wrong. They forgot that most people want all of the answers now. Most people want easy watching like most of Mando, which has been lots of fun. This show is not that. This show will require patience and a willingness to try and connect the threads while also realizing they are trying to mislead which means we will need to really pay attention. Does that mean the end product will be good? No, it might be nothing more than a tedious waste of time and genuinely suck, but we won't know until the end.

Just to tell you how the writting in Darth Plagueis is good. Well, Plagueis when wounded got back on a ship illegally. When confronted by the crew, he offered a choice which is a compensation for their troubles and more in exchange of staying anonymous and a way to get back home. Then the crew discided unknowingly of his true nature to take him as a prisoner then give him to the authorities. When the Captain confronted him again with a primed blaster in her holster Plaguies said ''Don't''. Again giving a choice to make a deal like a true Muun would do. But she ultimately sealed the fate of the entire crew by drawing her blaster against the wounded Sith Lord. Plaguies butchered them all and experiment on them as well. But the choice was an illusion because the Sith mastermind already carefully selected the inexperienced crew from the start and he knew the results were likely to end like this. This show his deception, cunning, skills, calculating origins as a Munn and how terrifying a wounded Sith Lord is in the eyes of the common folks. Truly a masterpiece.

It’s been well documented that, at least since Tenebrous, the Sith had been studying the force and its potential diligently.
Long story short, they would have been able to learn how to do this stuff. It doesn’t make any logical sense no matter what - it’s just been massively bungled. I can suspend disbelief for theoretical fantasy worlds, but when that world isn’t self-consistent, it’s a problem.

i Like how its the dedicated old lore fans that can still make sense of the craziness that is modern star wars. With a little bit of work this entire video can be used by the Acolyte crew to make the show bettter. Have better depth instead of constantly shoving nonsensical actions and decisions then accusing everyone of being sexist or racist. This also proves that they dont have talent at disney if it takes superfans like The Stupendous Wave to make their own lore fit into their own world building.

It’s really not such a big deal. Not trying to sound mean, but you’re making a lot of assumptions about the show when there’s not a lot of information to go off.
    1. We don’t know the witches were dark side users. They just belong to a different religion than the Jedi/Sith.
    2. We don’t know that the Force considered their efforts to be an affront. They did end up murdered because of the twins, however.
    3. We don’t really know that the twins were created through the same way the Sith tried to create Anakin.
    4. Whatever ritual they did produced twins; one light, one dark.
    5. For all we know, their tiny cult could have been doing this for generations. Maybe that’s even how their secret sect reproduces? It doesn’t appear that their goal was to produce someone as powerful as Anakin, or to dominate the Force. They appear to respect it as much as the Jedi.
Basically, we take it on faith that everything the Jedi believe about the force is the only way to think of it. We don’t know that’s true at all. We’ve really only gotten the Jedi and Sith’s “two sides of the same coin” ideas until this point.

Also, when was it decided that Anakin as the only being ever created by the Force? Some many people jumping to conclusions is tiring.

Also it would still be an absolute travesty, destroying Lucas' Star Wars and undermining Anakin and why the entire Story of the 6 movies takes place. Ignore Disney completely and only accept the OG 6 Lucas movies, the Clone Wars, and the EU (Legends) as canon. Its almost like no one in the comments have seen or read a murder mystery before and been tricked by it.
We're not even 1/3 the way in and so many commentors have taken the first bait already. Of COURSE it makes no sense! No where in the episode did it say these "twins" were made out of nothing by the Force like Anakin.
For the life of me I cannot understand how they are even being seriously compared at this point except for ambiguitous dialogue designed to make us immediately draw conclusions. Think about it. The "twins" hardly show a "Chosen Ones" affinity to the Force do they? No. In fact 1 dies as a child and the other fails to make Knight as an adult/teen. So what gives?
The showwriters sure did an apt job if making us see an easy connection though with that 1 line "created them". Maybe even to draw us off track? Consider it. It's too easy but we are used to easy in Star Wars. Point A to point B.
The path of least resistence almost is never the one that ends up being the right one in a Mystery story which is what this show was described as.
That's what makes a good/decent mystery story. The turns. Finding out which is a reliable source to go by. Which isn't.
Ep.3 was entirely from a flashback of a childs perspective. How reliable could that possibly be? Of COURSE the rock isn't flammible but through a childs eyes? Of course it was.
How many times does the showrunners have to tell us the viewer that nothing is as it seems and that our predictions won't be right before we listen and let the story play out before jumping to such MASSIVE conclusions as "Lore's been ruined. No walking it back NOW!", "Dis has killed the Chosen Ones importance!", "SW is dead!", "[Insert culturely bias opinion]", etc etc.
For crying out loud has anyone considered the possibility that the emotions we are all feeling right now were intended to cloud our judgement and keep us from using our analytical brains?
Let the story play out. I've seen/read plenty of bad mystery stories in my day but passing that judgement on them would have been impossible before the curtains fell on the Third Act...😮

I have no issues with the witches creating life; the Sith, aren't the only dark side users, as the Jedi for the light. No Sith has to obey the rule of two. The Force is flexible and understanding to allow it's use to heal as a light side trait, or decay, as a dark side one. The witches were adding another thread on an existing thread and while they mightn't be able to do things Jedi and Sith can do, this they could. The birth was within their own members and if the Force didn't want this, it'd have failed. This is the will of the Force as expressed in these passive Force users. We seek to lock the Force to only Jedi and Sith and abhor other users access to it. There's the Bendu who is all accepting of the Force and in harmony. This is our aim.

The star wars force is a "hard" magic system with rules and guidelines, while magic, like in Potterverse, is a more flexible "softer" magic system, even magic like the dathmiri witches had limits. They shouldn't be able to create life, only manipulate it. The fact that the sith ( Darth Plaguis ) got too greedy when in the middle of a ritual and tried to take the forces' place in playing God is when the force temporarily left him and created Anakin to punish the sith.

I know it's from a different franchise, but what the creative team of Acolyte is doing is basically summarized by Ian Malcom
"The problem with their work didn't require any discipline to make. They read what others had done and they took the next step, they take no responsibility because the didn't earn that knowledge for themselves. They stood on the shoulders of geniuses and before they knew what they had, the packaged it, put it in a lunch box and they're selling it, they're selling it"
and all because "we want to make men uncomfortable"
I'm not surprised that Acolyte would make a horrifying mistake like this, but there's nothing to be done when all that's been thrown into the franchise are mindless sheep that got to where they are through the success of their predecesors....
