  • The XTool RA 2 Pro is a 4-in-1 rotary tool that allows you to engrave almost any round object on the Xtool D1 laser as well as most other diode-based lasers. Its various options offer the most flexibility of any laser rotary tool on the market today. In this video, I show how to set it up in each configuration and test out a variety of items to show how well it works.

I just finished machining the final part, from your plans with success and am so happy I don't have to buy another sheet of plywood (LOL!), your plans are amazing thank you so much sir!. I've recently come across your videos and freaking love them. Definitely looking to grab one of these lasers for my own shop. I know this isn't the proper venue for this but, is there any steps after engraving to protect the surface or does it just go out the door after the engraving? Thanks!

      Thanks for checking my channel out. I’m glad you are enjoying the videos. Depending on the item I might use a spray on finish. Wax based oil finishes tend to gum up in the engravings. Often times it’s just a light sanding then a dust off with compressed air.

    Great video. Do you need to change anything in Lightburn Laser Tool Menu...Rotary Type, when you go from Rollers to Chuck? Or do you leave it set on Roller for both type of operations? Thanks.

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  2 года назад

      You will need to swap between rollers and Chuck style when using it in the various modes. Otherwise your designs will appear backwards and you will not have the right options to set the diameter.

    This is a great very informative video! Thanks! When you were attaching the smaller gear for the pully was the flat side of the spindle obvious and did it fit in easily? I am thiking mine may be defective because I cannot get it to go in that hole far enough to adjust any set screws and I do not see any flatside on the spindle, TIA

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  Месяц назад

      Mine slid in fairly easily. Make sure the set screw is backed out far enough to let it slide over the shaft. I have heard of others having a bad part where it would not slide on as easily. You may need to reach out to xTool support if you are unable to get it to seat properly.

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  11 месяцев назад

      Most stainless steel will darken under the right power and speed. It's the heat reacting with the coating to turn it a dark brown to black color. If you want a very dark black, you'll want to use something like Cermark or Brilliance Marking Spray.

    In lightburns rotary menu what did you set your mm per rotation at? I did trial and error with the test button, but I feel like there should be a more accurate method

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  2 года назад

      Sorry for missing this earlier, when using the chuck style on the Xtool D1 you need to set the MM per rotation at 1440 and then enter the exact diameter of the object for your burn to come out at the correct dimensions.

    • @AngryPyro666

      @@Vintauri I ended up finding this out, but also found it created a huge issue on forums. After they released the RA2 pro they released a firmware update that changed it to actual mm and not degrees. So post update its 32mm for the rollers and 128 for the chuck.

    Will this RA2 pro work with the Ortur laser master 2? Thank you. New subscriber

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  2 года назад +1

      I do not have an Ortur machine to verify that it works, however there are two wiring adaptors included and the Ortur lasers are one called out in the FAQ that it works with. I was able to make it work with the Atomstack clone laser without any issue. As long as your Y axis has a 4 pin connector on it, then it should be compatible by using the right adaptor.

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  Год назад

      On the original D1's like mine there is a port on the main board that it plugs into. On the newer pro versions, you need to swap the cable from the Y axis drive on the board to attach the rotary cable.

    Helow Vintauri, is there a way to connect and use the XTool RA2 to and with a SCULPFUN laser engraver?

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  Год назад

      They do include a couple cables that should adapt to most standard diode lasers. You remove the plug from the Y axis Stepper motor and attach it to the rotary using the cables. From there you would calibrate the rotary to your stepper driver.
