The video is a little inaccurate. I almost broke the Remote trying to open it. Theirs a button that looks like a symbol on the back of the remote, hold it down and slide the back off with your thumb. Instructions in the Box would have been nice and the batteries were dead on arrival because for some reason they leave the batteries in the remote so they were probably sitting in there for 6 months while waiting to be bought. Can you say process improvements
I can confirm, pressing the tiny symbol on the back releases the door. The video is the wrong way to do it. Furthermore, they are AAA not AA batteries.
same here and not only was his instructions wrong but he tells you to get double A batteries when infact, it takes triple AAA.

The remote has been revised to have a push button because with the old design the door would come off too easily.
USELESS INCORRECT VIDEO. How about noting that you should push down on the lock button to release the battery cover.

NVIDIA updated the remote control recently. GregglesTV made this video BEFORE the update. The original remote is nearly identical but does not have the button. I have both remotes, the newer one has the button that you mentioned. The older on does not.

No, it's not that simple, I just got one and before looking online I figured exactly what I needed to do, but it still didn't work right away, I am a heavy hydraulic machine and vehicle tech, and I struggled to get it off- to hold that button down I had to use my nail, but my nail was binding up the cover so it couldn't slide, plus there isn't a lot to grip onto.
Now I have the cover off once, it now opens a LITTLE easier.

No and no. This instruction drove me crazy trying to do the same. There is a notch at the bottom of the remote. It has to be pressed in while sliding/pushing at the back. Thanks for the video anyway.
lol just got one ,there is diamond shape button at top of remote press & whaalaa slides right off
Guys, try using one hand. Hold remote upside down with the Netflix button facing the base of your thumb. With the top part of your thumb (around the first knuckle) push down. I found that when I tried to use both hands I was working against myself. Good luck.

I almost broke my remote following these instructions. Needs to be edited or taken down. 🤔 A small indentation at the top needs to be depressed before you can slide the cover off. You can clearly see this indentation in this video at 0:09.

The long sliding groove makes for a lot of contact, and as dust particulates lodge in with time, you get more friction and thus becomes more difficult to open with time. When new it slides off easier..now I am stuck with $400 unit and can't open the remote.

DON'T WATCH THIS VIDEO. HIS METHOD IS WRONG. *EDIT...On the rear side of the remote there is a down arrow that you press to release the rear cover.
Man I just got this remote to replace my old 2015 shield remote that takes the 2 2032 puck batteries, and I for the life of me cannot get the cover off of it! I have 2 other 2020 shields that came with this remote so I even knew how to open them up. I looked up how to open the remote here on yt in case they changed it, but it doesnt look like they have. If my life depended on it, I'd be dead. I cannot get this thing open lol...
Dude wtf kind of instructions are these? You need to PUSH THE LITTLE BUTTON on the back to get it to open, not just "turn it upside down and slide" wtf dude, you had me doing it wrong for like 10 minutes.

Tried a sledge hammer and chainsaw...both unable to get the job done. Full marks to Furgulator. He got it soooo right "when you have to watch a video to learn how to open a remote,you know its an issue. The rule in design should be "does it work easily" Epic fail for the genius designer behind this remote

This guy is incorrect he doesn’t understand the procedure for changing batteries. Look at the back top of remote there is a little black notch press and push bottom of remote no guessing of what you are doing

There is no need to press on the top it is very easy there is a button to the top part of the cover you press that button and just slide the cover down . Simple !
There's a button lock on the back that I'm pretty sure you need to press down first . . .

Good effort but you should remove this video. It's very misleading and incorrect and could lead to breaking the remote. First off, there's a little button on the side near the top that you press in and then you push from the bottom up. If you don't push the button it's going to eventually break. Secondly the batteries needed for it are TRIPLE A (AAA) not double as you stated and people are going to go out and buy the wrong ones. It comes up first on Google so not good.

This is probably the worst egineered remote in the history of remotes. I think Im on my second hour trying to pop it open.
Take ot back the new one has a button then it opens.
Press the button on the back of it. The instructions given are completely wrong.
First time it was pretty hard for me to open as well and cover remained in my hand while the remote fell down. Luckily no damage or loose parts but now it opens pretty easily and I have no problem opening it but with just 1 small niggle, while in hand and using it the cover feels kinda loose in the sense that it has very very slight right left movement felt by the faint tik tik sound while using it. Anyone else felt the same?

Very helpful thanks very much. I had to watch the video 3 or 4 times before I eventually got it right and then I struggled getting it back together again. I used to be a design and technology teacher so I think it says something about their design.

it was partly open to start. its easy if its 90 % open already. this is a bad design. everything else i like but the battery cover is sad.

When you do get the back off, insert Lithium batteries so you don't have to change them for a couple of years.

Just got mine and putting as much force as I can, cannot get the damn cover off.
there's a button on the side top that you have to press to open it. Also it takes AAA batteries not double.
