To change the batteries, you said that you have to slide the rear part. The remote control seems to be in one piece and you cannot see a part that would slide in the back. It would be very useful to have a short video on this specific point. Thank you

I have my Shield TV setup behind my 65' OLED TV. The old flat remote has a hard time receiving the signal inputs as the Shield box is behind the TV, but the Shield Joypad works much better sending the signals. Do you think this new remote will perform better than both old inputs? Does the bluetooth connection help the new remote? Great vid! Thanks
Another great thing is that is also DOES have IR, and the shield has a large range of receivers supported with it. That way it can control the receiver volume directly. That just blew my mind. Eliminering the need for an extra remote. Also since the CEC is supported, it can turn on or off the shield, tv and the receiver in one press. Not to forget the ARC support as well, that you connect the shield directly to the TV to get the full resolution if you don't have a 4k capable receiver. The audio from be passed through from the TV to the receiver. Eliminates the need for an hdmi splitter. The Nvidia shield is just great.

Good video man. Personally, I think the remote upgrades are great. However, I'll probably just drop the extra $50 and go with the Pro version device wise.
I agree. Honestly, I just got the regular Nvidia shield because I wanted to showcase a new device. Personally, I feel that the shield pro is identical to the 2017 shield.
The sideclick add on for the old remote solves all the issues with the old remote. I got one shortly after purchasing the older shield pro and turned off the volume function on the shield remote. No complaints since. Can also switch between inputs, and adds the much need girth to the remote. Does the new style remote have the ability to switch between inputs?

I've done all the tests I can do on the 2019 model, it comes out to about less than 10% faster than the old one, not the 25% they say, it does have a great remote and upscaling looks good, bu that's it, not worth it for $213 with tax, I think Nividia is trying to rip people off by take the same old computer chip and just overclocking it on us, RIPOFF!< Lets not buy it, I'm returning mine. they will be offering the same remote soon for the old model at around $30

I just purchased the nvidia shield a few days ago it now comes with the new remote design for the old style nvidia shield which to me that style is much better then that tube looking thing smh. My question is how do you program the controller to your tv???

got the 2019 Shield TV Pro and the hand set is good apart from the Netflix button ..is easy to accidently hit the Netflix button ..I think it would have been better being on top with the on/off under it

Just the beeper alone makes me want one. I've always lamented that remotes don't have a pager of some kind in them. We lose our remote ALL THE TIME.

To work the mouse toggle on the new remote. Press play pause button twice, mouse cursor will appear and press the home button the cursor disappear . Hope this help.

So on the cheaper version there's a dedicated button to find your remote but on the Pro.... There isn't? You have to have had a second remote paired to find the original Nvidia remote? Is that correct or did I get something wrong?

Does the remote fall asleep when in Kodi or Plex? I don't like how the 2017 remote does this when I'm watching a TV Show or Moive and it takes a while for me to "wake" it up for me to adjust the volume.

How do you use the mouse toggle on the new remote. Everything else is fine but when I need the mouse, I don't know how to turn it on. It's very important to be able to have the mouse when you need it. I have an app that I downloaded but need the mouse to use it. Thank You!

I have the Shield 2019 pro. When the box has been off for awhile, the remote does not turn the box back on or even light up. I have to take out the batteries and reinsert them to wake up the box. Any suggestions?
Weird my remote or the gaming remote dont need to program or click 2 buttons to pair?? So is this a Netflix patent or actually Nvidia. And tubers say the shape you wont loose it in the sofa (my sofa ate many time) but they put a tracking on this bulky one. I really want one of these but they need to make some sort of stander something for it you know like your typical dangles just hang on the backside I or TV this thing's gonna lay down on the TV stand look like garbage it's around tube they need make some sort of thing to mount it to the wall or something some sort of clamp that would be nice out of sight out of mind

Make sure you understand the tramp version tube thing is only 32bit so 64bit emulators won't install. Dolphin etc etc

Go to Amazon and search for "WeChip G20 Remote Control 2.4G Wireless Voice Control Sensing Air Remote Mouse for Nvidia Shield Remote Replacement PC Android TV Box". This remote is much better than the Nvidia remote shown in the video. It has an air mouse which you need for some APKs like CyberFlix, CinemaHD, NovaTV, BeeTV, etc. The voice option works, ALL BUTTONS work. It's not bluetooth, you use the dongle provided. Just put the dongle into the USB port in the back of your Shield, and it works. Plus, it's ONLY $16.99. I've bouight two of them (I'm always dropping mine, so, just in case I break it). Maybe you can do a review on it.

why do you give out hearts and no reply? i have this shield and remote and am having detection problems and i don't know if this thing is on or off because it has no power indicator. 1) how do change batteries 2) how do you know if the damn thing is on or off?
How do I get the sound to work on my shield remote
I'm disabled and in a disability chair and my wife sits in a recliner across the room. when she has to leave the room and I need the remote that she normally has I have to holler at her to get it for me. The question is can you pair 2 remotes at the same time to the same unit, and if so how do you do it?
I was able to use my remote and 2 different phones with the nvidia shield remote application at the same time. This makes me think that 2 regular remotes should work fine too, however I do not have 2 shield remotes to test this out, maybe someone else can confirm for you.

2015 2017 does not make a difference. What matters is what android version your running.

Can you install NORDVPN on shield and all apps on shield will use the vpn or do apps like kodi have to have their own install app/client of nordvpn?
Yes.. once nord is installed and running, your IP address will change and every app on your shield will run through the VPN
