Would really love to see a pro plus model with a game controller included, more ram and maybe a m.2 slot for storage upgrade. Dreaming I know...

DO NOT USE USB THUMB STICKS for external storage. This reviewer is giving bad advice. I used a 128 GB Samsung 3.1 USB that overheated. USB thumbsticks were not meant to be R/W constantly. This well documented on Nvidia forums. If you want an external drive, use a USB SSD Flash drive.
if you are serious about the plex server stuff, then the 128gb usb wont be enough source: 3.6 tb of content on my media server, i know people with a lot more than that
I use mine as a Plex server and originally had a 2TB drive attached for my content. On the advice of a friend I put all my content on my NAS and mapped Plex on my shield there so I still get the power of the Shield to use with my cheap NAS. I also swapped out the 2TB drive for a 256GB SSD. The performance change on my Shield was very noticeable.
SSD speeds are great as long as you keep content on it, as overwrites are limited. Writing to a cell must be deleted before it can be rewritten, eventually the cell dies and cannot be used. Are you aware of the insane overheating problems you will encounter by trying to use a USB stick as adoptable storage? Basically it pretty much melts even the best USB sticks because of insane overheating due to constant reads and writes as normal operation of the device even when it's in sleep mode. The best way to avoid this is to use an actual SSD drive as adoptable storage.USB sticks are inferior to use that way but they still work great for removable external storage. As far as I know this issue is still the case and has not been solved. Don't be surprised if the USB stick overheats to the point of failure as thats quite common. Also I would go with FX file explorer instead of X-Plore. Both work I guess but I prefer the look of FX much more.

I returned my 2017 Shield because I had some refresh rate issues using Plex and Kodi with Plex plugin. Every minute or so, the image freezes for a nanosecond. Could it be because of the 23.98p vs 24p on my TV that I'm losing a frame once in a while ? I tried everything, setting everything at 60p, matching the refresh to my screen and matching my screen's refresh to my device. None of those worked. Can I play movies using plex on shield pro but from NAS server (qnap, synology, ... ) instead of local storage, assuming we use 1gbps Ethernet connection ?
Yes. I use a QNAP to run a Plex server and stream it to a Shield. It can host your media. I also use the QNAP Plex server to host local live TV from an HDHomerun connected to an HD antenna. All streaming to the Plex app on the Shield. You can also connect your Shield to your NAS via a file share on the NAS. Great for emulators and whatever else you can think of.

Hi Again ... Just wondering what IPTV App you would suggest for the Nvidia Shield (2019) ... most folks seem to suggest Tivimate or Smarters TV ? .... Would you also advise the better option, downloading those apps to the Smart Tv or to the Nvidia Shield?

Great info, not to exited with the new Shield wish for the price they would of bumped up the memory ram to 4GB like most of my cheap boxes & 16GB storage? Too bad this doesn't have support for 8k content. I was thinking of using this with an 8k movie projector. I might just use it for the streaming capabilities however since I have content higher than 4k, I will likely go with a zidoo UHD8000 to store higher content.

Hi, I’m interested in the Shield pro 2019, but I wish to have some answers to the following questions, can anyone spare two minutes please? 1 - The Shield pro can run 64bits apps? 2 - Does the Shield have some exclusive games outside of the Play Store? (or some games optimized for Tegra in Tegrazone only?) 3 - Can I install any apk I want on the Shield from a USB stick like in my Android TV box? 4 - Is the device delivered in rooted state? If not, then how hard is the rooting process in a scale from 1 to 5? 5 - Is the device Airplay compatible? If not, can we use an airplay app like Airpin to make it so? 6 - Can I use simultaneously 2 wireless gamepads for games? 7 - Are there 2 players games available in the store (car races + fighting)? 8 - Since I don’t own xbox or PS4 gamepads, which generic gamepads would you recommend to order with the Shield pro? 9 - Can I install and use an IPTV android app like in my Android box? Thanks a lot!!!!

love my shield pro but still have to use my harmony for volume as the shield remote dopes volume up asnd down so so so very slow to the point that it feels nvidia hasn't noticed. Am i the only person feeling this big oversight
The nVidia Shield is a very powerful device but it has a major drawback for me. The USB ports never sleep and keep external USB drives awake continually which has caused two of my 4TB drives to die in just over a year. Not sure how it would work with a NAS as I don't have one to try.
You can turn off USB devices in sleep mode: Go to Settings / Device Preferences / System Under USB Port Power, Change the setting from Always On to Off During Sleep When you press the power button it should put the unit to sleep and you will see the drive light on the drive turn off.
@@gtrianda That became available with a system update that came after my comment. I remember mentioning to my wife when it was first installed and she wondered why it took nVidia so long to fix it. Thanks for the detail, a lot of other reviewers said “no upgradable storage on the pro, so it’s an downgrade from the non-pro” so happy to see you can upgrade it!

Thank you 👍
hello, in the present, in option x-plore, the server, i can connect to a vpn server in latin america
So you can play your own video on the Nvidia Shield TV PRO and its HDMI output gives an AI upscaled version of that video?
Yes as along as you are connected to a 4k tv
Still a little confuse, if I want to stream and occasional gaming, should I pick up the pro or im good with the 8 gig one?
I have samsung q7fn qled tv with AVR-X2500H receiver for 5.1. What benefit would I get from this nvidia shield tv? I watch netflix 4k on the tv native app.
Would I be able to run zoom and install a usb web cam on the Nvidia Shield Pro?
Can you get 256gb or 500gb for it and which one do you recommend
I got one of the older generations cheap and was a great purchase
I have question is possible to play with remote and controller for 2 ppl? I mean simple emulated games or even from android store
Thanks TK. How about running it with a NAS? Would that be the wifi server option? What would be the bandwidth recommended for accessing your Nas for plex?
Just bought the pro and I don’t plan on running a plex server, I should have watched this video first lol. I thought the pro would be overall faster but your saying no hmmm.
Will the sheild tv buffer less than a 4k firestick?
If I would purchased the new Nvidia Shield pro, would I have to reinstall all my apps on the new one? Is their a way to backup and restore to the new one?
I was just wondering how you got the Chrome icon to appear outside of the sideloader app ? (Excellent video sir)
Does anyone know?
First great video but , the controller is a second generation unit , I still have the original sheild from 2015 which in alot of ways is better then the newer units as mine came with a 500gb hard drive built in , more ports and way better build quality , but the sheild is so much better then any other unit out there except for my zidoo uhd2000 , but you cannot go wrong with the sheild
can I add apps not offered on play store???
Hi Again ... Just wondering what IPTV App you would suggest for the Nvidia Shield (2019) ... most folks seem to suggest Tivimate or Smarters TV ? .... Would you also advise the better option, downloading those apps to the Smart Tv or to the Nvidia Shield?
I use tivimate downloaded to the shield that’s where the upscaling is I love it paid for a lifetime subscription. Tivimate is just a player you still need an iptv service
So i went with the little PNY 256GB usb for the pro it has a speed off over 200MB,s
Great choice
Great info, not to exited with the new Shield wish for the price they would of bumped up the memory ram to 4GB like most of my cheap boxes & 16GB storage? I've got the Nvidia Shield Pro 500GB 2017 version and makes no sense to purchase the new 2019 model with no or little specs they offer. But dont get my comment wrong Shield is the best of the best in boxes it's a must
Scusa potresti dirmi quante il massimo di capienza che può mettere Nvidia sheld TV di ad 1t ci può andare
for movies and multimedia content in general wich is better option a zidoo z10 or the nvidia shield pro? thanks
Buying a pro now! Thanks for the info, very well executed. 👍🏽
I am looking to trade an android nvidia sheild is anyone interested
Does Nviia Shield support Wake-On-Lan (so am I able to start booting nvidia shield via Network)?
I've seen people streaming their whole PC not just Steam games. How do you do this?
Guys, do you know what is the best way to output audio from nvidia shield to receiver (instead of tv)? Nvidia is having only one hdmi.
I had that particular Sandisk 128Gb flash drive, Soon as i plugged the drive into the Nvidia shield there was major lag, Once i unplugged the drive the shield was back to normal, Not sure why but i read the shield only work with specific drives, So i purchase the Sandisk 3.1 Extreme pro Flash Drive SSD work like a charm👍
Can u install and use kodi on this device?
@@dasolja7888 Yes
After I connect to steam, can I play the games if my pc is off?
i hav a portable 2tb hdd with full of movies , whether this player will support videos/movies frm hdd and pass-through dts/dolby sound??
power adapter is Universal? Can I use it outside US/UK?
Yes

Is this better than the super box Pro
Too bad this doesn't have support for 8k content. I was thinking of using this with an 8k movie projector. I might just use it for the streaming capabilities however since I have content higher than 4k, I will likely go with a zidoo UHD8000 to store higher content.
Which one of these two devices are good for Iptv..... I mean... Buffering problem... Lot of people recommend nvidia... I have a firestick 4k and I have buffering problems when watching iptv.. My internet test come around 100mbps in my stick.. I think it's OK... Or you think it's slow?
Does it work better on the Nvidia TV shield?
@@wakaflockaproject yes... Much better... Depends on your internet to.... But the Nvidia helps alot...
Hi, I’m interested in the Shield pro 2019, but I wish to have some answers to the following questions, can anyone spare two minutes please?
1 - The Shield pro can run 64bits apps?
2 - Does the Shield have some exclusive games outside of the Play Store? (or some games optimized for Tegra in Tegrazone only?)
3 - Can I install any apk I want on the Shield from a USB stick like in my Android TV box?
1 yes, the pro version is 64bit, the tube not
2 yes, a few. Not worth it though, but you get geforce now for free and you don't have to wait for an account
3 yes
4 it's not difficult, but you don't need to root, you can do whatever you want without rooting
5 no
6 yes
7 yes, in the android tv store AND in geforce now it's a special section with lots of games
8 get the pro with a controller, otherwise the xbox 360 controller 2nd hand or an 8bitdo for emulator games like super nintendo
9 yes
@@snoeki Thanks for taking the time to answer all my 9 questions! Hope it helps other people too!
How do you get goggle chrome on the shield? Please help
download the offline apk of chrome and sideload it on the shield
Can I upscale my HD home family videos to 4K by playing them on the Shield Pro from
an external drive, while recording the HDMI output signal of the Shield
Pro with a 4K HDMI video capture device? Would this work?
It should be, because the capture device, capture only the output.
Not very tech savvy, have a lg c9,ps3 and two 4k players, could someone explain to me how a nvidia would benefit me
love my shield pro but still have to use my harmony for volume as the shield remote dopes volume up asnd down so so so very slow to the point that it feels nvidia hasn't noticed.
You can turn off USB devices in sleep mode:
Go to Settings / Device Preferences / System
Under USB Port Power, Change the setting from Always On to Off During Sleep
When you press the power button it should put the unit to sleep and you will see the drive light on the drive turn off.
@@gtrianda That became available with a system update that came after my comment. I remember mentioning to my wife when it was first installed and she wondered why it took nVidia so long to fix it.
In any case my shield finally died and has been replaced by a cheap Android box which does its job just as well as the Shield did and has 128gb of storage.
I have a ps4 controller, but the buttons a mapped differently. How do I fix this?
How could I sell this Android box? The problem is that no one knows these Android boxes so almost impossible to sell.
Nvidia shield NOT WORKING have the new shield tube, had voice control working, whatever I did it's not working any more application not available?
Is the Samasung t5 ssd 500gb hard drive better then these usb sticks and flash drives as im getting one ?
Is the Samsung t5 working well for you on your Nvidia Sheild TV Pro 2019?
Yes its very good. I dont notice any slowdown or sluggishness anywhere
Hi i have high quality;4k moves i download on my pc and i have sound system that high quality all i want to do is have shield see those movies on my pc and watch them through the shield which will be connected to my amp whats the best way in doing that ?
How do I load the Trex app on the Nvidia Shield
Got a new WD 4*tb external hard drive. Plan on using it with the send files to TV app which I apply the share icon from tordroid via the torbrowser to add to the video collection ...shhh...
I love X-plore, have used it for years. Only file management software I use on Android devices. Highly recommend.
just found out about it, and i'm mad i didn't know about it sooner!
I wish they'd make it look better. I feel like I'm using an old Windows 98 program. Works great though.
Question, Did it Charge yall?
