I grew up as a traditional artist, so I definitely learned about using the whole arm and elbow to help you with the lining. I'm pretty much self taught, so I've learned about those things. I can draw near perfect circles too :D. Using just your wrist can put a big strain on it too, so overtime it'll not only just ache so much, but can later develop carpal tunnel >.< . I know its a different feel with the digital pen, but learning to draw traditionally definitely would help you master the digital pen a little easier. I think so at least. I'm still learning about digital arting, so hope I'll be able to improve on that in the future
personally, I dont like tutorials that are like "HOW TO DRAW HAIR!!!!!1!!1" because those kinds of things depend on your art style... the best tutorials are the ones that teach anatomy and such 🔥🔥
"Those kinds of things depend on your art style" That's the thing, how can you develop your art style if you don't want to learn and see how others draw and the techniques they use and use the techniques you like?
I like tutorials that teach you the fundamentals and then you can stylize it from there, but there seems to be a lot of people who are teaching their specific art style as the default.
@@naniidoodles OP meant that the artist making the tutorial usually doesn't break down the mechanics of drawing hair, such as teaching you the fundamentals, but instead just draw hair in one specific style without explaining what they're doing and how to translate that into another art style.
Even if u have a different style drawing hair is almost always the same. Draw the base shape, add details to the shape, shading and lighting. So no, it doesn't depends on your art style.
Exactly. It should be titled something like "how to draw x in my/some specific style" or "how I draw x" to avoid confusion. Also half of these are pretty much for people who have been drawing for a while ironically, new artists would get more confused lmao
I honestly wish you did more videos of you drawing. I know in the past you’ve said your art was kind of stiff but, personally , I disagree. The shapeliness of your art is just so good. Plus that double line thing you do looks so cool, Gooooood 🙏😭
I feel like for the tip involving the lines and using your arm, digital artists could just zoom out a little bit until they can make a solid line throughout their canvas. If you can pull that off, that means you can use your big swooping motions to focus on the actual overall shape language of the drawing, then zoom in to work on the finer details. It's been something I've been trying to do here and there, not the most comfortable with it yet, but I'm getting used to it every time I force myself to draw this way.
17:30, I think the person in the tutorial WAS trying to use the loomis method but, to me at least, it seems they need to keep practicing to properly understand it rather than create a tutorial around it.
4:51 I used to use this one a lot when I first started out, you actually need colours under it to make it work, it doesn’t work without Colors or black and white so maybe retry it later
