- There's no point in me sitting here trying to describe this--either you understand or you don't. This is a really well-produced 72 minute live video of the world's mightiest satanic messengers, VENOM, at the peak of their power, performing at London's Hammersmith Odeon.
Setlist:
Leave Me In Hell
Countess Bathory
Die Hard
7 Gates of Hell
Buried Alive
Don't Burn the Witch
In Nomine Satanus
Welcome to Hell
Warhead
Stand Up and be Counted
Bloodlust - Видеоклипы
The band that kickstarted extreme metal. Metallica, Bathory, Slayer, Possessed, Hellhammer, Kreator, Death, Sodom etc owe them so much!
Yep, in the early-mid 80s, they started the movement, we had dozens of bands appearing out of the woodwork, some horrible, some great (Slayer, Metallica, Destruction, Exodus, Exciter, Holocaust (Scottish)
Loved the Danish metal movement too, in particular Mercyful Fate, all excellent musicians, Michael Denner and Hank Sherman, 2 great guitarists.
@stvesh89, you are 100% correct at the very least " The Rich$$$ bands like Metallica, Megadeth, and Kerry King" should have been sending Royalty/ Donations to the original writers of Venom on a Regular basis. I don't know if Venom ever made a decent living. But Metallica certainly did Lars , James, Dave Mustaine and Kerry King, open your Friggin wallets guys, No Venom, No Mercyful Fate, No Motorhead, No USA speed- Thrash Metal.
love how Cronos' base solo is just him making as much noise as possible lol.
I think to have heard that he actually couldn’t play the bass but learned it through playing in Venom
Bass*
@@user-ol7bt4wp1j yeah he was originally a lead guitar and ended up playing the bass and singing after both the singer and bass player quit lol
@@silentlamb2077rhythm
Venom doesn’t strike me as a very talented band. I’m surprised people still listen to such noise.

These 3 men killed it back then! Made me a fan at age 14 when I bought black metal album in 1982 My first venom album 😁
Dang that’s a long time ago I’m 13 rn and listening to this type of music that’s cool that you found them at 14
@@dikhurtz1955 I’m 15 been a fan of Venom for a while now!
@@michaelmyers3890 same, been a fan since I was 12. Very few new bands re create this feel
Discovered them last year also at 14 . Thank goodness i found black metal big venom fan
Ha, That when I found them too.
Same age.
A copy of Kerrang Magazine.
The cover of Welcome To Hell scared the hell out my mom.
She had no idea what was to come.
Bonded By Blood, Show No Mercy, Hell Awaits , Morbid Tales were all well hidden.
Killer band......You gotta remember that back in this day nobody was doing this cept for Sabbath (kind of), Pentagram was unheard of, Ozzy and Motley Crue were considered metal, Venom hit the music scene like a shit-ton of Hell fire and demons. People were actually scared of this band, and some still are. LOL.....Nowadays everybody does this scene. I love this killer power trio.
guitaryoder1 black metal and a double live album got worn out by me back then, because they were one of a kind...I see them live 2015, still slaying.....so cool to see performed the songs I know from 83
Mercyful Fate also had their part to this.
at first i was afraid of slayer, and then this kids saw my zeppelin shirt and started telling me about them and drawing me pentagrams and upside down crosses. dude i was like no way they worship satan. Tried them one time never turned back. now i like it all. (first year out of a private catholic school)
Rock 'N' Roll Junkie that’s true but not as heavy but still awesome
Lest ye forget Celtic Frost.
Mantas.. The only guy who can play metal while rocking a Village People 'stache...
Dude you fuckin made my day .I'm fuckin laughin so God damn hard dude
Kk did in 79
@@Nissardpertugiu Loadsa guys did lol it's just moustaches were more popular back then. Bring them back I say!
Sabbath would like a word
@@TomNobody631 tony iommi
I was there! Was absolutely bonkers on them back then, went again in '85 too...
Dude, I bet you wanted a refund. I know I would have. No I take that back. Metallica opened so that would have been worth the price of admission. Hell yeah, seeing an very young and early Metallica would have been so fucking awesome!!!
@@coyleigh2860 Metallica is for girls

i like venom for 30 years, and still rocking out to this sound...
Thanks man, Hell is Home...
This is the only drummer who can make Lars sounds like a metronome.
haha, I enjoyed that
that's not so difficult because lars is a worthless drummer, every drummer will always be better than lars
😂
What the hell is a "metronome" 🤔

Venom Legions Of Brazil
Greetings from Brazil
This is one of the greatest live videos releases ever.
What a great show! Just getting into this band in my 40's
And this is the overdubbed version for release...if you think this is sloppy, you should hear the original bootleg of this gig. Yet somehow I can't stop watching it, I love it :D
is this available?

Venom was always one of my favorite thrash black metal bands.
+Jäger Braun what the hell
Doedsjarl oh leave the bloke alone
When I discovered Venom I was legit scared shitless of them. Also, I had been a Slayer fan before I even heard Venom. There was something authentic about them that Slayer lacked. Slayer never has scared anybody.
I love both
I love both bands too but the band who legitimately scared me? Mercyful Fate. I was a 15 year old Catholic high school student scared to death when I heard “The Oath.” Blasphemy was never so musical.
Funny thing about Cronos, he's really not too concerned about playing the actual notes to the song, lmao. His bass is really distorted, guess he figures if he hits the occasional low E he has it covered. But he CAN play, he's pretty quick and has some cool licks when he actually manages to play.
Actually that's a thing about the early Speed Metal era of Metal. If the bass isn't completely following the guitar and just playing the main root note, it can accomplish a different effect than following the guitar. This method Cronos uses lets the bass drive the song in a consistent velocity rather than breaking it up by following the other notes.
Saxon's Strong Arm of the Law is a more polished example of what I mean. The song would be completely different without that driving bassline. Also I'm pretty sure this was done in blues and even jazz before that. Haha...even that Is You Is Or Is You Aint My Baby scene on Tom and Jerry kinda does that. Tell me the way Tom plays that stand up bass isn't Cronos as fuck..
Cronos is rather unusual bassist.... Take a look at his semi fretless basses, he made it on the bass normal fretted basses. Also studio recorder tracks are nice examples of his playing
i agree very under rated
He's putting more into the vocals. I have the same problem. It's hard to play & sing on many songs.
Damn and to think I just thought he was a talentless hack all these years. I still dig a few Venom tunes such as Countess Bathory, Don't burn the witch there is a few more but thats about it.
30TH ANNIVERSARY NO BAND AS SINCE TOUCHED THEM THE FECKING GREATEST GIG I HAVE EVER SEEN CRONOS, MANTAS, ABADDON THANK YOU
what happens in 4:53 is magic... Abbadon crashing like he had 9 arms to smash all at once..., Mantas advancing towards the crowd with the killer riff and chin up... and Cronos... being the menacing beast that scares just by walking towards you like a monster-demon-troll with a double ax, unsurprised but capable of chopping your guts in two soooo easy.... and eventually... low beast roar and... "countessss..."
One of the heaviest Live concerts ever of one of the best metal bands ever... fucking awesome!!!
Best Venom show ever!..Remember seeing this when i was 14 years old!!!!!.......This was everything!
Out of words!!!! This was THE MOST SCARY Heavy Metal, when I heard it for the first time in the early eighties. Was it Monster of Rock with Amanda on Sky Channel..?.. Thank Thor for Venom! Without them there would be no NORWEGIAN BLACK METAL!!!!! Thanxxx!!!! ROCK ON!!!!
Kicks ass! "Welcome to Hell" and "Countess Bathory" are my fav Venom songs, glad to have them both on the set.
That was one of the best bass solos I have ever heard. Love Venom!!!
Been a venom fan since 83 , brought this gig on video in 84 and still got it today great gig and good live recording of venom, totally over the top and brilliant
Jesus if they looked like this in 1984 cronos must've hit the gym every day to look like how he does in 85
KKKKKKKKKKK..............Misfits gym,kkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!
This is my all time favorite concert footage out of all the metal I listen to. I have been listening to Venom since Welcome to Hell came out on vinyl 30 some years ago. I am getting old but it just seams like last week?
Lol
MrSturmvogel No shit.
+Jäger Braun calm dude
+jkwttrs i love you too pet ! mowha
Axel the Frank I cant help but laugh at you. Do you think vinyl is a place. You first coment had nothing to do with what I said. Are you 12?
The first song I heard from Venom was At War With Satan back in 1986.. And I never looked back 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I was 8 years old, I was a pioneer and went to school in the USSR. And these guys have already done something that I will love all my life. I can't get it into my head.
I was so happy to hear Venom in my childhood. There was a live in Brazil with Venom & Exciter.
Yeah, still remembering that VENOM meets metallica in Zwolle/ Netherlands (1984??/ 1985??). Metallica was the supporting band with cliff burton. Oh. man. The times, they are a changing.
And you know who were the open act for this tour? None others than Metallica. How awesome is that??
Zicrom what a great bill...
how about iron maiden / Judas priest....gnr & Aerosmith....Raven, wasp, slayer
Best band of all times
I thought Venom opened for Metallica. I guess I've been wrong all these years.
Venom were THE metal sensation back then.. that wasnt radio related
That didn't last long...
21:45 oh my lord
Real asf
... and on lead guitar Asterix....
A true creature of pride, have to give him credit for this one; 5:48
Not just to let them take pictures, but at seeing a camera being pointed at him, he goes all out wild.
That is very bad ass for sure. Excited and heavy metal.
I remember my friend came rushing to me with the album `Black metal` smoking brand new vinyl! that day I stopped listening to Kiss
Kiss is POP............IT DOESN'T REPRESENT THE METAL IN ANYTHING, IF NOT THE MEDIA, BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A POSTURE!!!
I had welcome to hell and black metal albums as a kid..But when i got Witchfinder General and Trouble albums there was no looking back..But i will give Venom credit..They were the first real black metal band ..
The one and only real black metal Black metal gods
When I got into heavy shit ... I rented this concert in VHS, not knowing what to expect as I had never heard of them ... I was blown away ... it is still one of my favorite concerts ...
A go-to concert when surfing for music. Top shelf setlist. Great production & visuals.
Glorious!!!! My church right here! The church of black death speed thrash metal...
If you don't mind the sloppy playing and lack of musical talent early Venom is damn entertaining! Listened to this years ago and still enjoying it today. Thanx for the upload!
Still have it on VHS.God I'm old.
My favorite band with Iron Maiden in the beginning of 80’s.
Yes, the True Maiden with Paul DiAnno, not the Opera Singer.
I used to own this on VHS, back in the late 80's or early 90's, my mother found it, and got rid of it when i was at school/work one day, and has still never admitted to it, over 20 years later...
Buried Alive sounds absolutely fantastic here, wow!
I was at the gig. It was two thirds empty, but scorched on my memory like a bad nightmare. Awful in some ways, genius in others. Changed metal forever. The ending puzzled everyone. Unforgettable . The tube from Hammersmith was full of metal chatter.
Memorable concert
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS IN IT'S ENTIRETY!!! YOU SHALL BE BLESSED BY THE METAL GODS!!!
Mantas looks like a cross between Uli Jon Roth and Derrick Smalls
The best show ever!

Classic Venom! Thanks for posting. Sure beats digging out my copy from the dark depths of God only knows where (quite possibly right where it belongs!).

Daaaamn! I love this album😛
No one has ever been able to top this, most evil band in the world
+Ynse Schaap hellhammer did it twice
DAOR3194 Hellhammer and Celtic Frost are dark and doomy not as cheerfully evil as Venom is
Ynse Schaap k then... are u expecting regular heavy metal?
DAOR3194 Not sure what you mean
u got that right
The best part is from 0:00 to 57:50
gracias🍻 primo diego Villalba de ARG por prestarme el VHS en 1989 para ver escuchar terrible banda y cambiar para siempre mis sentimientos al Metal.
Love how cronos switches basses like for two songs and he just keep one for the rest of the show lmao
It amazes me how much they suck yet actually kick ass.. Venom rules!
Nice up! Unbelievable how Cronos screws up during Bloodlust btw..
grew up listing to this band one of the heaviest and loudest bands ever venom rules
Still love both Venom and Venom Inc, used to play the early vinyls on shitty headphones loud so they distorted and sounded live, ahh.... 1980's 😊
El mejor conciro de real Metal de los 80's......V ENOM !!!!
I love this video as well as Venom b.metal .l also like the guitar playing of Jeff Mantas Dunnn .
Class act....wish i went now
I played Venom on my stereo so loud just to piss off my neighbors but the music still kicks butt eat your heart out jay Z.
Sounds great to me. And for the past 30 years as well. Beats the shit out of any metal being played today.
destruya Darkthrone, Burzum enough said. They're still playing good stuff.
Still in my blood as the best venom performance ever.
Burzum? not doing anything anymore
There isn’t any other video of this show of sound and video quality anywhere. Hail Venom

Seven DATES of hell. Good one
Real action begins at 57:50.

grew up listen to these guys Hails
FUCK YEAH! Mr. Lant going all the way! :D "It's only the second song of the set? So what, I'm fucking Cronos, I smash my bass whenever the hell I feel like it!".
VENOM FUCKIN RULES!!!
Very well said friend, black metal shit. Venom itself was metal, and good.
"Chuck Mantas on guitar"
Kills me everytime...
It's Jeff Mantas. Jeff is his actual name...
Lol.He does look like a black metal Chuck Norris.......
I was there
Serious ? Want to hear about that story man...You were very lucky... O please let it sharing to the World... Yeahhh... I was only five years old then... 🤘🏻🔥
THIS is The best ever!
thx for sharing. looked for it since ages! >>>>
People talk so badly of Venom , saying how shit the were as players , Henry Rollins trashed them , but I think they were great....sure they were rough Musicians but hell they could play together and it sounded awsome , heavy raw dirty and mean!
+Steve Kramer ,, not I , I remember them in the 80s , thought they were good then and still do,, like the sound. btw henry rollins is nothing but a punk, I wouldn't worry about what that fool has to say
3 words. Fuck Henry rollins
henry rollins is the greatest person of all time!!!... according to him..
Steve Kramer Being from the same area i know a couple of bands that spent time in studios when they were there.Abbadon average but could hold it down, cronos and mantas actually not pretty decent musicians, people with nothing but praise for them.
Henry Rollins is a corporation bitch, now.
Fuck him and his holier-than-thou pseudo punk attitude.
great! my VHS was killed in action playing this one!! hope a DVD will be edited. So great!
Venom has great songs. Their messy playing doesn't bother me a bit.
"Messy playing" is being very generous. I don't think they can play for shit. Yet, for some reason I like them. Probably because of Countess Bathory, it's my favorite Venom song and I'm fascinated by the Countess. I have read about her extensively.
@Coy Leigh The messy playing is one of the reasons I like Venom. Cronos can't sing and his bass playing is sloppy, but he's the only one with that voice, and he has his style. Mantas can play guitar, not as a "guitar god", but it's simple and raw. Abaddon can't keep time even if he had a metronome welded to his glasses, but damn his playing fits the music so well!
@@Gumbypotty Cronos can sing .
