Making a Fiberglass Sheet for a anchor locker repair

In this episode I need a small sheet of fiberglass to go into the anchor locker of my Seaward 26RK Sailboat so I decide to build one using some West System Epoxy and some spare fiberglass mat that I have in my shop.

I’m not familiar with peel ply. Is its main purpose to soak up the extra resin and still be able to separate it like you did? It looks like the laminate turned out quite well.

Exactly - peel ply allows you to get a decent surface on the fiberglass by getting rid of the extra resin. works out quite nicely!

It also gives you a surface you dont need to sand if you want to add more layers its a ready made surface
