nice work ... i am 30 ,55 gallons drums into my repair work in experience.. the tools we have now are so much better.. when i stared.. your tools are perfect.. nice shop,, great personality, if can, put a full stop angel up ,watch on a day time laps , its funny !!!! i document my work a little , my favorite is a big lay up , single handed , blow there minds !!! keep that talent growing !!!!!!! really like watching your posts ,you giving me positive energy to keep going on with these never ending boat repairs, its a quiet job listing if you are looking for hands to help , even with top tear pay, the helpers find something else to do.. the micro detail orientation of though, writing it down id not an option .. its a must .. the business of the fiberglass boat repair, completely different from new construction.. .. its really unknown to the average consumer to see the repair process. and its natural needs to detail.. nice work....

I have watched a lot of your videos and this is the one I like best. Not only did I learn a lot about fiberglass stringers but your use of a scaffold as a workbench/roll hangar is genius. I have a scaffold like yours and now all I have to figure out is how to get that roll up there. Thank you for everything you share.

I understand the note completely. I renovated my old house to sell before moving to the coast a couple years ago. There was an unused space under a counter in the corner where two base cabinets met that was going to be closed up. We had this old fancy glass fish about 8" tall that had a broken fin. We glued in onto the floor in that space and left a placard that read "Bob the Magic Renovation Fish" the date and our names for the next person that remodeled the kitchen.

Yes, a rolling-and-tipping program would be great, especially with something about selecting a brush for tipping. And what rollers work best for which applications/paints. Also, any suggestions for cleanup in moorages would be helpful. A lot of moorages have provision for disposing of used oil but not for used solvent, paint, thinner, etc. As always, great program!

I always corner my cut outs with a hole saw. A radius eliminates a stress point that a sharp corner provides. I know this is a pretty minor thing, when you are glassing over something, but its easy to do and I have a little OCD too. :) Certainly not meant to be critical, but wanted to know what you thought of this idea. cheers!

Have you ever tried using 17 oz biaxial matting without the chop strand matting with epoxy? I’ve been using on my boat project and it’s been working pretty good. Don’t use as much resin and laminations come out a lot more clean and clear. Also is not as thick so works well in areas where you want to fair even with other visual seen areas of boat.

I recently acquired a 1974 glassmaster 18 foot tri hull. I have not begun the tear out. But, I anticipate the deck and stringers being replaced at the least, most likely the transom as well.
The intention is turning it into a fishing boat that will last at least another 40 years.
    My questions.
Is it cost effective and or pheasable to rebuild the stringers with no wood?
If not then marine ply would be within my budget, coosa would be nice. It is just so stinking expensive.
