Mo's Garage
США
Добавлен 11 янв 2023
Hi! My name is Mo and welcome to my garage! After a successful 30 year career as a Civil Engineer I received a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease at age 53. My wife Cathy and I decided to retire, leave Southern California, move to beautiful Lake Havasu City, Arizona and enjoy life. So what keeps a retired Engineer busy and entertained? Working on fun projects in the garage!! Our house has a 14-foot high by 50-foot deep fully finished garage with both air conditioning and heating (Yes it gets cold here in the winter time!). In this channel we will be working on a wide variety of projects ranging from refinishing furniture to working on power boats, cars, motorcycles and even canvas work on sailboats.! I hope you will join me on the journey of figuring new things out and on the many adventures that come to life in Mo's Garage!

MGB GT Windshield Removal and Installation
Просмотров 285Месяц назад
In this video I tackle installing a new windshield on my 1970 MGB GT. Based on my research the task has been described as either an easy 30 minute install or a daunting 3 week long affair of high frustration! Good news is that it turned out to be about a couple of hours of fun, head scratching and a bit of cursing! (30 minutes to remove and about an hour and a half to install). Due to the magic...
Making a Fiberglass Sheet for a anchor locker repair
Просмотров 166Месяц назад
In this episode I need a small sheet of fiberglass to go into the anchor locker of my Seaward 26RK Sailboat so I decide to build one using some West System Epoxy and some spare fiberglass mat that I have in my shop.
2017 BMW F700GS Valve Clearance Check

In this video I check the valve clearance on my 2017 F700GS. Other than having to wrestle the valve cover in & out of the frame it was a pretty straight forward process. As always, this video is purely for entertainment and I would definitely do your own research and due diligence prior to attempting on your own bike.

A short video showing a recent flight to Parker Arizona (P20) for a touch and go from Lake Havasu City (KHII) in the Remos GX. This is my first attempt at a multi-cam video and also my first attempt to work with Adobe Premiere Pro. Lots of good stuff learned!! Thanks to RUclips for the awesome Bollywood sound track!
Marklin N Gauge Mini-Club Train Set running around in a circle - Hot day indoor entertainment

On day 3 of an excessive heat warning in Lake Havasu City. What better way to pass time than to bring down the small train set I bought my Dad back in the mid-80’s and see if it still works!
A quick flight in the Remos around Lake Havasu City to test my camera setup.

Made a quick flight to get a few maneuvers practices in (Steep turns and low speed flight) and also to check out the camera mount inside the cockpit of my Remos GX. Unfortunately I forgot to hit record on the rear facing camera. What you see on this video is compliments of the GoPro Hero 13. Turned out quite nice. I used a Sony digital recorder to pickup the audio from the headset jacks. Looks ...

Artemis heads from PrEvost Harbor on Stuart Island to Deer Harbor on Orcas Island. When approaching Jones Island the currents were such that the boat was pointing to the north side of the island and the track was going to the south side. Fun times with a chartplotter!!

Artemis heads from Ganges (Salt Spring Marina / Island) to Winter Cove on Saturns Island. Our first real “Wet” Ride!! Cathy spent some quality time under the dodger keeping dry and for the most part I kept dry under the Bimini. Once again Cathy’s enclosure is amazing and makes this boat a lot more useable! Good news Day 2 was beautiful and the sun came out and everything got dry!

The Adventures of Artemis - Life Hacks for Cruising on a Sailboat
Heat gun or hair dryer will fix the wrinkles or...you can you a steamer.
I think you, Mo, got the better job assignment on this one!
No kidding!!! Wife is a saint! Happy new year!
Thank you. That is on my project list for this winter and you just made it a lot easier.
I feel like I’m in the minority on this, but I love the look of the fish mouth grills, especially on the gt’s. Looks and sounds great!
I would tend to agree! But then again I am a bit biased!
A tip as you mentioned powering a navi directly from battery. There is a roundish connector on the battery holder between the fuse and the relay, which is for powering the BMW navigator and has power when ignition key is on. I bought a corresponding male connector from some Chinese webshop, probably temu and power a USB charger from it. My bike is F800R -17 but it should be the same. If you need to draw more power than this connector can provide, you can trigger a relay from it to get ignition key switched power for your accessories.
The bag is genius.
Interesting. I used to taxi out from those exact hangers a number of years ago in a rented flight design.
Small world!
@ I enjoyed flying that CTSW powered by the rotax 912. Jeff Carlson and Bob Hancock were the flight instructors at the time in Lake Havasu
nicely done - - great video and sound. Glad that V tail got out of your way before you hit the throttle !
You know those Beech Craft guys!!
Thanks for the ride-along! Your audio works great now.
I gave up on the digital recorder and plugged the audio directly into the camera
Good job Mo. Remember watching a pro replacing my windshield. Didn’t take long if you have done a few.
Thanks Bob!!
I'm restoring one right now ...but a V8 🙌
fun car!! Now if I can figure out some of the rattles!!
You’re a brave man Mo. I was holding my breath hoping not to hear CRACK! Whew!
That makes 2 of us!!! I’m glad it worked out!!
I’m not familiar with peel ply. Is its main purpose to soak up the extra resin and still be able to separate it like you did? It looks like the laminate turned out quite well.
Exactly - peel ply allows you to get a decent surface on the fiberglass by getting rid of the extra resin. works out quite nicely!
It also gives you a surface you dont need to sand if you want to add more layers its a ready made surface
Wiem jakie to uczucie. Kilka minut temu, po na pewno więcej niż 10 latach postoju w warsztacie , ja uruchomiłem moje MGB GT Sebring. Szkoda że nie nagrałem filmu 😟
Why can’t I find a UK video on a uk car? The first 8 are all American.
My twin brother and I had a N gauge train set when we were kids, built on a 3 x 5 platform. 😊
That is awesome!
Nice flight around the pattern. Audio was a bit rough on this one except when you’re speaking.
I do have to work out the audio gremlins. It is picking up the engine noise through the headset. Will need to figure that out!!
Your camera is always too far away for the video to be useful to anyone else . Really to bad because the content is of interest.
thanks for your feedback! It’s tough when you are by yourself and doing it just for fun!
Thanks for the video Mo. It helped me with my R100/T BING rebuild. I got curious when I heard that you have an MGB GT. I have an MGB too (convertible). Then I saw on your channel that you sail boats and fly airplanes, all things we have in common my friend so I had to send you guys a little shoutout. I enjoyed the coincidence ;-). Keep well. Nick
Awesome!!! Gotta enjoy life to it's fullest!
Thanks taking the time and making the effort to share your adventure. Safe travels back home!
Thanks Rick!!
I have a 1970 mgb and the passenger side blinker has two filimemts and drivers side has one. Is it supposed to be that way.? Help
have you tried the MG Experience on line forum? very helpful!
What a great adventure you’ve been on! I’m impressed that in every video you both have been wearing proper gear. Safety first!
Safety first!! The sea is a cruel mistress!!
Brrrrr! Good planning to have made the canopy!
The canopy has completely upgraded the usability of the boat for cruising!!
Oyster armor! 😂
So many new friends! Your bodies won’t know what happened to them when you return to Arizona’s heat.
I hope they’re not stinging jellyfish. What type of boat is the maroon one with large windows and grill that’s at 2:18?
That is a converted life boat!
Beautiful scenery and vessels! I hope you got to enjoy a crab dinner.
But did they bring crabs???
Actually no!! No luck!!
Looks like a neat place.
Glad to see sails up again, even though you had light winds. Also glad you made it through the cut without issue. That had to have been a relief.
The cut was a bit of a white knuckle experience! Especially after all our keel issues!!
Always wanted a tigers. Burt Rutan’s plane back in the 70s. He outa know.
The tiger belongs to a friend of mine - Love the airplane!
New Subscriber. The Seaward 26rk has always been a dream of mine. fair winds.
Wow, quite a process. Fingers crossed that there are no more hidden surprises!
Although the boats are significantly smaller in Colorado, it gets quite crowded on our small lakes and reservoirs. One has to always keep an eye out for other nearby boats. A frequent issue is jet skis coming close to jump the boat’s wake.
Artemis looks happy to be on the water again! I’m happy for you both that you were able to arrange for the repairs relatively quickly. Mo, I think “awesome “ is your favorite word!
Yes! We are all happy that she is in on the water again! Wow! what a journey! It’s been an interesting summer vacation to say the least! And yes - Awesome!!!
Looks great!
Isn't the top cap with the slot made for filling it up?
There is a split ring on the rear pin that the seat rotates on. Removing it makes getting the seat off much easier
I have been considering upgrading to one of these as my "forever" boat.....did you ever determine the cause? Was it a manufacturing defect? I heard there's keel bulb issues with the 2005-2009 RK models. Hope you got it repaired successfully.
The composites shop that is currently repairing it made a good point - they think that this could be possibly be like a fuseable link. In other words if you strike something with the keel it breaks vs. the boat. Also, our boat had previously lost its keel under the previous owner when it came off its mooring and ran aground. So who knows if that caused any weakening.
Landing at Sedona counts towards your carrier qualification 😊👨✈️
No kidding!!
does it cost to go through the Ballard locks?
@@paullucas6019 Nope! It’s free!
@@mosgarage2776 Lovely! Thank you!
Wow, nice.
Beautiful vessels! Thanks for sharing your ride.
Sound like a wonderful time.
Very Nice!!
Great resturant in Sedona. What a great destination; LOVE SEDONA!❤
Sounds like the $10,000 estimate was a way to take advantage of you and your situation! I’m glad you’ve been able to work out an alternative.
And that was times and materials estimate!!! Not good!!
@@mosgarage2776 They are super busy probably. How are they going to repair the unit?
Stay vigilant Mo. glad you all are safe and keeping on!
Thanks!
I have a 2010 RK26. Did you have any splitting down the leading edge of the foil?
Not that I could see. There was definitely some rub marks, but I am putting it down to the broken keel guide
Well I was considering a Seaward 32RK until this happened to you. The construction method of just glass the rod to the keel is IMHO not sufficient to sustain collision loads. The rod should extend all the way into the bulb. Then again I'm not a naval architect. Is the top part of the keel foam filler?
that top part of the keel seems like it is missing something - definitely not structural!
Quite an adventure. Just think of all of the campfire stories it’s providing!
Yes!! Makes for interesting stories after the fact!! Ultimately a 1-percenter problem! Also regardless of what we are doing in WA it is still way cooler than LHC!!
