Many thanks dude! Been a huge fan of yours and the Salt videos since the Smash 4 days. Keep doing you broski. I plan on sending some salt your way soon 👍
This video was really well laid out and helpful for someone who has started to build their own Mewtwo but wanted to learn more about how his kit is used. The only thing I felt missing from this video was more info on Teleport and what you'll get from input variations (edit: I saw the teleport edge cancel video), but overall I learned a lot and will reference this a lot. Like many I'm just here to main a character I enjoy and see how well I can do with them. I gravitated to Mewtwo just because of how fun I find his kit and movement, and while I can get frustrated when I play against other characters with kits I find hard to deal with I remind myself that there are those who make it work and I'm the one holding the character back, not the other way around. Which brings me to my biggest point that ties into how you end the video about pushing Mewtwo as high as possible on the tier list. While characters certainly have objective qualities and subjective ratings, tier lists really are a measure of how far we the players are pushing the different characters. If we want a character rated higher it doesn't need buffs, it needs the people playing them to not make excuses, grow, and make people question that characters tier placement by how the mains of that character are performing. ...Although I wouldn't complain if we were made heavier than Pikachu...
Mewtwo main here: Words cannot describe how amazing this guide is. A shame that a lot of people easily give up on Mewtwo. If he has a dedicated community though we will be able to push him up the tier list, and show everyone who the best Pokemon really is. Note: Mewtwo can go under most Omega versions of stages by dashing off the ledge, (without jumping) using a confusion, (maintaining height in the air) using a jump (sliding against the other half of the stage) and going into an teleport toward the ledge. He can also do this after a ledge grab, but he loses his intangibility once he grabs the other ledge. You've earned a sub from me, keep up the amazing work!
@@kahl9837 Almost no one plays with spirits at all, so good luck. If you already have fire and psi support spirits, you can just equip them in training mode and see which gives you more damage on a particular attack. I expect Mewtwo would benefit from PSI but no guarantees. ssbwiki might have the answer too.

John Power From personal experience, fast fall N-Air is pretty good at putting your opponents in a tech situation where, if not expecting it, they will miss the tech. After you jab lock, I usually either Down Smash or Down Tilt depending on their percentage. I will say that Down Smash has to be inputted ASAP after the jab lock since there's a long start up. If Down Smash is too slow, Forward Smash angled down will also work fine.
Very nice. You highlight strengths and weaknesses in a clear and concise way, gently give suggestions, and explain game mechanics with character-specific relevance. Can’t wait to try some stuff out with my own M2, this weekend! Appreciate. 🤙🏻
I’ve played Mewtwo since he came out on wiiu from when I was a beginner to now but there were still quite a lot of things I learnt from this video, thank you so much for making this man you did an amazing job, and respect to you my fellow Mewtwo main
Rufus Fawn my b, worded it a bit poorly, meant like when he came out on wiiu, like knew he was from melee but maimed him from the start of the smash 4 days
Dude that was truly one of the sickest combos I've seen 13:33 I started playing mewtwo a couple days ago and decided to make him my secondary, although I doubt I'll ever be as good as you. Thanks for the video it helps a lot.
Great video, I was thinking of picking up mewtwo after watching mkleo play him and it looked really fun. This video motivated me to work on him even more!
Mains Mewtwo since smash 4. Gave up on him about a month ago. *Sees video* wow since when is Mewtwo S+ tier????? amazing video, you have inspired me to go back to my favorite character in this game 👏🙌🥳
I loved Mewtwo so much in Smash 4, but I dropped him after Ultimate came out because he just didn't feel good to me anymore. Recently though I've been inspired to pick him back up by MKLeo and now this guide!
Something to bring up is that you can combo out of dair by double jumping right before it comes out if your opponent is on the ground at mid-high percents. Its safe on shield, as if they block or dodge it, you're already floating away from the double jump, and it can combo into any aerial you want on hit. Honestly, a section on double-jump shield pressure might be worth bringing up. Jumping into an enemy with a poorly spaced/super aggressive aerial and using double jump to reset neutral can be a powerful tool. It becomes even scarier on stages with lots of platforms like Battlefield or Town & City, as you teleport to one of several different locations, making getting punished a pipedream.
For recently picking up Mewtwo on a serious level, this guide has actually been quite helpful in getting me to understand his options and utilities. Great guide!
Mewtwos weight is my main hang up with the character. Canonly speaking Mewtwo is a heavy Pokemon and as such should not be around the weight class of actually light Pokemon like Squirtle or Jigglypuff. At least return its weight to what it was in Melee (85). Overall a good guide although looking at the date of this video I believe Mewtwo did get a buff to Down Throw in one of the patch updates which allowed it to be a combo throw.
However i could not have best described mew2 as you did "feels like a top 20 when played right but a bottom 20 whwn played bad" and why not? He has all the tools on paper to be top 20 but his weaknesses hold him back. If Nitendo could fix his weight and his tail he would be instantly high tier.
Good to finally see another great Mewtwo guide after SDX cause it's been a while now. I really think with few buffs Mewtwo can be high/top tier over time. We'll see
This guide has really helped my playstyle with mewtwo. On smash bros for 3ds, i mained mewtwo a lot and was very good at his combos. After recently getting smash bros again, i mained a few characters. Getting back into mewtwo's swing is proving a little difficult, but i am getting back into it. Awesome guide! I am sure it helped a lot of people :D

l was about to smash my controller out of losing so many times with Mewtwo, and l don´t want to let him go because he´s my favorite character too. It was a good thing to hear that it´s a difficult character by nature
Advice from MewTwoKing (ironic): don't main a character just b/c you like them from the lore (i.e. you main Mewtwo b/c he's your favorite character) but instead, main a character that feels right for your playstyle. Charizard & Ryu are my favorite characters from their realms but in SMASH, I SUCK with Ryu, & pokemon trainer, I don't even touch. They're not for me. Know who feels natural for me instead... Wolf & Bayonetta. Never played any of Bayonetta's games and haven't played StarFox since N64. But I was Fox, not Wolf. My point is once again, like Mewtwo king said, don't force a character to be your main just b/c you like them from the Lore, but choose a character that compliments your playstyle & feels right. Just saying cuz I know that frustration of trying to make it work with a character that it just ain't working with. Feels like a toxic relationship lol
Great vid! Made me realize how little i throw out down-air, gonna try out some of these strings. One thing I wish is just more clips of you getting bodied lol! It was helpful when you said "this can potentially take a stock" dubbed over footage of it actually happening, but when you mentioned moves getting punished I wish there was also an illustrative image there.
