    The whole Wadi situation came a little out of the blue which is sad cuz that means less top level M2 gameplay to watch. But I'll definitely paying attention to Anbil and Remrin more from now on. Any content is much appreciated :)

  • @danjo1477
    @danjo1477 Год назад +33

    Here are some thoughts I have about this video:
    Anbil's playstyle works for the majority but drains your stamina and lacks counterplay against rushdown opponents. Kento plays really fast but that leads to him getting overwhelmed in some situations and makes bad decisons in disadvantage, but also doesn't have any major strengths to his kit. Remrin has a great advatage state and edgeguarding, but is too aggressive sometimes and autopilotes neutral.
    I think you should find a middleground between these 3 playstyles. 1 fokuspoint but being able to play the 2 other playstyles in the core basics.
    The biggest problem with M2 is that you lose hard against somebody who counters your playstyle. So the easiest solution to think of is to adpapt to the other player's playstyle, but this is where it becomes tricky for the M2-player. Playing 3 different playstyles for one character is very demanding. It also messes up your speed and decisionmaking in gameplay, because you are not playing in your comfortzone.
    This is why I think that Wolf and M2 are very similar when it comes to matchups and playstyles. They both have an option to almost anything but it depends on the player to make the right decisons to win. The difference is that Wolf is a top 10 character and his biggest flaw is his recovery which is better than having a bad disadvantage overall and Wolf's moves are also safer so you won't be punished as hard as M2 when you make a mistake.
    Sorry for the wall of text for anybody reading this and I'd gladly hear other thougts and opinions about this.

      I don't think wolf is a better character then Mewtwo at all all of mewtwos air moves are great so are all his tilts. His move speed is great and has so many kill moves the only thing I dont like is how floaty he is and that gaint tail hurt box

    • @SuperSwagdood
      @SuperSwagdood 10 месяцев назад

      Mewtwo shouldnt be adapting to other characters. We are a control based character. We simply lose to rush down. That's our archetype. No need to try to over push it. You can try some shield pressure oriented style or shadow ball but they just naturally beat us. This is why you pick a secondary.
      And wolf has worse recovery, range, speed, projectile. I'd say Mewtwo is better. Just underplayed.

    • @Fredysaurus
      @Fredysaurus Год назад

      Funny you mention this name, I don't know anything much about top Mewtwo players, but I ran into a Mewtwo named griseous about 3-5 months ago, have never felt like I was being toyed with so hard, (not that he was playing toxic) I couldn't get in for shit, his movement was godlike and tiers above most elite smash players, one stock in and I had guessed he was a pro player but I never looked it up. Closest I've ever been to getting jv4d. I didn't rematch because when a player is that many levels above you you don't actually have the space to learn and take much from a game, they're just blasting you with pure fundamentals. I had absolutely no answer to him walking back so precisely and letting out uncharged shadowballs to cover the ground and then punishing whatever I chose to do to get around that. Was kind of stale experience for me since that's all he had to do to beat me, but I couldn't help but respect it and I knew I hadn't even scratched the surface of what he could do.
      I remember his name months later, that's how good he was, and I'm sure it was the same person, if it was an imitator... They just wouldn't have been that good lol.

    I'm Faifre, the Joker Anbil clips in this video. Beat him at Dreamhack our last meeting and I think he is way too self centered in his defense, using it for the sake of hitting what he wants, he also struggles a lot if someone can play around his Shadow Ball well. But he really is scary and if he got a more well rounded neutral and focused a bit more on the opponents feelings in his defense he would be insane.

    I really enjoyed WaDi's playstyle. I don't think I can analyze as good as you, but it was a sight to see. Prior to him leaving the scene, I would say he is top 3. Anbil feels much more defensive utilizing shadow ball as much as possible, but seems to trail off in the later stages of his matches where performance starts to taper off. Kento's movements are amazing and although not specialized, this opens him to many styles and variations of movements not easily predicted by his opponent. Remrin is ultra aggressive and tends to be out of place or badly timed shields, but it is a high risk high reward playstyle. TimPrater is very enjoyable to watch also despite a somewhat lower profile where he plays similarly to Anbil, but isn't afraid to be aggressive like Remrin. I saw other comments pointing at Zenki, suzune, grade and gorioka and will check them out also

    Great video as always. I've always believed Anbil was #1 for Mewtwo, even before WaDi was outed and left the community, just because of how well he places in Norway tournaments, and how solid his Mewtwo gameplay is. Really wish he could come to America and show how good he is. And i think Kento might make a big splash in Japan sooner than later, hes growing to become an insane Mewtwo with top level movement and really good decisions in neutral with disable. and of course Remrin is a solid 3rd place imo, with no gaps between these 3 players rankings, any one of them can do amazing things someday.

    To me it seems that anbil plays to compensate for mewtwo's bad disadvantage and lets his very solid advantage do the work for him, remrin goes full glass canon and pushes Mewtwo's strength to the limit and struggles in disadvantage, and kento seems like generally the best player, yet his play style feels like he is a good player that plays Mewtwo, not like a good Mewtwo player.

    • @NotBae
      @NotBae  Год назад

      I very much considered including Grade in this analysis. From my perspective, he absolutely has potential to make that jump, but he hasn't competed in quite some time (not ranked in his region anymore) and I believe he falls into Melee syndrome (does all the crazy movement but lacks proper game sense and threat assessment). As of right now, I am confident in these 3 as the top Mewtwos, but that's not to throw shade at Grade, nor should it imply that he can't make that level up.

    The existence of each of these different players is a testament to the flexibility of this character's flexibility. IMHO there's no "correct play style" with this character, all these players are doing what they're supposed to be doing. One with the shadow ball neutral, one with the gnarly punishes, one with balance of all but using the speed to their advantage, all them are actually doing the right things in different ways.
    It's kinda like Falco from melee, how all these top players over the years really had different play styles based on risk v reward over eachother. You had Mango as the aggressive Falco, West was the defensive one who excelled in tech skill, and Ppmd who balanced these two things, but really had the most extensive knowledge of Falco's movement and neutral game. All them did different things with tremendous degrees of success. They all had "the correct play style"
