As they lost several former strongholds to independent candidates. Jeremy Corbyn won in Islington North. While four other candidates campaigning on pro-Gaza platforms picked up seats.

Also worth pointing out how Andrew Feinstein came 2nd and clearly ate into a fair amount of Starmer's majority
overall labour had less votes than 2019 and 2017 general elections. Only because of reform they got these landslides. They're gonna be complacent thinking people are behind them but reality is people moving away from them
In his last election for that district he got 66.3% of the vote, his majority decreased by 17.4%. Most party leaders see a bump in there own constituency when they win a landslide, which labour didn't they only received 34% of the vote while in 2017 they got 40%. This election wasn't a landslide victory for labour, just a massive defeat for the Tories. Only a little over 55% of voters cast there ballot for the two major parties.

@@TheLampini I'm saying it's not just about Palestine. It's a big part of it. It's the straw that's broken the camels back. It's the fact that for decades the left of the labour party has been abused and taken for granted. 200,000 people became members of the labour party for Corbin's policies. Starmer lied to become leader. He said he would be Corbin with better presentation. Then conducted a vicious war on his own members. The same people who elected him to power. He's betrayed the trade unions. The very people who founded the labour party.
For years we've been equivocating over a split from new labour but couldn't do it because we were afraid of the tories. It's like an abusive spouse suddenly demanding a divorce. If we go back to them now we're truly pathetic. Ironically reform may have given us the space to go for it without fear.
On Palestine though, you're absolutely right. My family were old labour. They were campaigning for a free Palestine since it became part of the British empire. That's how long it's been a thing that labour has cared about. It's been heart-breaking to see how working class jews have been treated by the establishment. The over-sized contribution to left wing ideology that originated from Jewish people has just been erased. One of our core principles of internationalism directly comes from the experience of Jews in Europe. The only positive though is that Palestine is bringing people together from all over the ideological and religious map.
"don't make this about race of religion" i think u will find it is actually religion. For some reason Muslims feel very connected and will follow what imams say and who to vote for. in most cases u are correct but the muslim community seems to be separate in that they have a extremely high detachment from others due to their religion beliefs and how it functions in their community from what i see.
@@Xeeni87 If true how does it explain every other person who is taking the ethnic cleansing of Palestine seriously? I see Orthodox jews, Christian conservatives, Catholics, pluralist Jews, the traditional left, the far left all coming together over the same issue. Then you have Saudi Arabia, the most extreme Wahabi Muslims who are actively defending Israel.

I never vote Labour again
Gaza ceasefire issue is not a Muslims issue at all. It’s now been an humanity matter. Western blind eyes on it harts peoples and obviously Muslims. But It’s affecting all mainstream political institutions. Millions protestors on street are not only Muslims but from all corners of the society.
Well done channel 4.
The only news channel fit for purpose and holds all goverment ministers to account.
Very interesting to see how suddenly channel four becoming interested on ethnic minority voice
What are you on about, Ch4 news has always had huge amount of representation of minorities.
Congratulations
Independents ❤
More need to win from independent.
Starmergeddon is here.
WHY WAS IT AND CANNOT IT NOT BE FOR YEMEN OR SUDAN? IS IT BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO DARK TO BE GOOD MUSLIMS?
Wherever Islam goes, problem follows
🤮🤮🤮
we stand with Israel 🇮🇱
All intelligent do
@roymunson1503 who is this “we” you speak of?
speak for yourself!
#FreePalestine
Free Gazza Ghetto
I admire how the Islamists are united when it comes to their religion.
This isn’t right. Elected people should be about Great Britain & UK citizens first and foremost Not Gaza. The one who said he won for Gaza Not UK should be disqualified immediately.
Tell that to the Conservatives freinds of Isreal. The Aipac and politcians such as Braverman who are in support of Isreal and use it as a political means.
Also all the UK MPs who concern themselves more with Israel than the UK should also be kicked out, I assume then?
@@Beyonder1987 whataboutery. There is no equivalence in your example. The country is ISRAEL silly one
Now sharia is coming to uk😅
Ahh the the beauty of binary & identity politics.
So you are not going to do anything for your constituents! If it's for Gaza why are you standing here then! Really sorry for those people! thank God LMohammad didn't win in our constituency!
Humanity rule #1 ~ Stop genocide first - then we can talk.
His constituents voted for him. If they don't like it they should have voted labour. Alas, they didn't.
@@djinghiskhan9199 its stupid as a muslim myself living in the UK i couldnt care less about GAZA i care about whats happening in my local area and how i can improve those conditions. Theres a reason why you dont live in a muslim country ... if you love gaza so much man then do one and go live there what you doing in the UK!
So you think genocide is great? You think us supporting genocide is great? You think supporting Ukraine is great? Britain caused the problem in the ME.🤡
You are not a Muslim - pretty sad you have to lie to make a point lol
A scary look at the future. People in the UK voting for issues affecting their "ummah" thousands of miles away rather than issues on their doorstep. As the population increases, this will become a bigger issue.
It is a genocide you pillock not a trivial issue that Muslims are angry about.
Yes, most don't even try to integrate.
Oh look, RUclips is censoring comments again!
Maybe if the British government hadn't given unequivocal support to Israel and supplied it arms and intelligence, then it wouldn't be a salient issue on which to vote....
@DavidZ4-gg3dm that's what's wrong. So wrong. The indians came, intergrated, love, and hold British values. They're proud to be British, wave the England flag. But those who don't intergrate have cause many issues!
Independent today, Sharia Party tomorrow.
The issue of Gaza is not 'complicated'
