A red fox is no much to a crane. Moreover even though eagles may be top predators from above, cranes have been noted to be able to defend against them. Else why would the cranes not flee upon their presence?

It's Chinese national bird. The Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty China had a famous painting called the red crown cranes. Why you call it Japanese crane?

Because it's the name 😂
its official binomial name is Grus japonensis, or “Japanese crane”
It's from those East Asian Countries, captured the imaginations of people in Japan, China, Mongolia, Russia, and the Korean peninsula.
If you do more research those Country also had this Crane as a symbol or legends. But they decided to give this creature "Japanese Crane" as the Name
