Now, this is how I'd like to spend my day! Wandering the forest, finding hidden trails and secret shrines. I haven't been to Kyoto yet, but this is 100% on my to-do list when I get there. Absolutely gorgeous! And moss!!!😍
Everything you captured such as beautiful green moss, wet ground and the stream down the path makes me realize how cold it was but also exciting adventure you went through! Little snow left on the ground makes amazing contact with the red torii gates too!😊✨
When my friends and I visited Fushimi Inari in 2017 we found those trails by accident and just wandered around for hours exploring all of the little shrines and the bamboo forest, one of the highlights of the trip!
Norm you are getting me so excited about my trip in two weeks. My first time visiting Japan my friend and I explored some of the exact same places you showed in this video! We had no idea where we were going and just stumbled upon them. Your camera work really conveys the beauty of those places and reminds me of how special it felt being there.
The amount of information Akiko provided and all the curiosities from the different segments of the Fushimi Inari were a treat to learn about! Thanks for all the content
I love how this video not only showcased the beautiful location you visited but also provided a deep cultural experience. That's so interesting that depending on what side you entered the gate from you also had to enter using the associated sides leg first
These uploads keep magically lining up with my breaks at work and I absolutely love it 😂 The lesser known or “secret” parts of Kyoto have always been something I am super curious about. One of my favorite videos from you recently, keep up the great work man!
Oh, such a beautiful place and beautiful customs and traditions. The bamboo forest is so magical place. I have to make the trip to Japan and Kyoto a reality someday!
I did this trail accidentally back in 2019. It was my first visit to Fushimi Inari and the main path up with all the gates was absolutely packed with tourists. I stumbled across the entrance to the trail and decided to follow it up to the top. It was a very happy accident because the forest scenery and hidden shrines were beautiful and there were so few other people on the trail that it was probably the most alone (in a good way) I felt on the entire trip. By the time I made it to the top, most of the crowds had cleared out and I could take my time going back down through the popular Torii gate path, so I still got to experience that, too. Ultimately it turned out to be one of my favourite days of the whole trip. Couldn't recommend doing this more. But spiders... oh, the spiders... if you're arachnophobic at all, be warned (not an issue here, fortunately, but they're everywhere and huge).
This may not be helpful for you, but whenever I walk a trail with lots of spider webs, I try to find a stick with a few branches to wave in front of my face as I walk like a magic wand. It probably looks weird (not that there are many people around on webby trails to judge), but it cuts down on spider webs in your face by at least 90%!
Kyoto has been on my list for a decade. The stairs, the historical architecture, the other-worldly vibe…just so beautiful. Thanks for taking us through. ❤️
Wow! What a beautiful area! I would love to see this with my own eyes some day. It’s magical places like these that have me completely enthralled by Japan and it’s culture. Also, so amazing to learn new customs from locals. I absolutely love opportunities like that! 😻 Thank you for sharing your amazing experience with us!
My First time in Kyoto, I went on one of the trails that leads from the main path because it was stupidly busy. had an amazing peaceful hike by myself, while everyone else had to stop every for often for people taking photos. There seems to heaps of these trails and they are all surprisingly quiet and scenic compared to the main trail
I went all the way to the top of Fushimi Inari a few years ago during summer and while I loved the journey, it really wiped me out for the day. So much to see and photograph.
Hidden hiking trail to Fushimi Inari?! This is what I am here for! Bamboo trial?? I've added this to my list. It's so hard to find stillness in Kyoto and this totally ticked that box for me.
I was smiling through this whole video too! I wish I had known about this trail when my sister was with me. She commented on how crowded Kyoto was at the time (this was like 10 years ago) and I wish I could have shown here this trail! And you saw the previous store owner! How magical!
Absolutely gorgeous, fun, and Fushimi never ceases to be awe inspiring and awesome. I'm going to be all over that mountain. 😍 🎶 My excitement is so real. 14 days til I'm back in Tokyo, 20 til I'm in Kyoto again. Have a great week, Norm 💜✌🐦
