As someone who's planning a trip to Japan I really appreciate that you include maps of where you're walking to, this is incredibly helpful! When you're biking are there designated places to park the bike next to the temples or you can just leave the bike anywhere?
Thank you!! And usually at temples there is either a place that has a picture of a bicycle on it where you would park or just park next to where the cars would be parked. Also, you can't park your bike inside the forest, you have to keep moving. 😄
Great video. You do a wonderful job of being honest and letting those of us know who are traveling to Japan what we should do or not do. With limited time and money I appreciate it! Keep making these great videos.
Randomly found this video yesterday and am glad I watched it. Heading to Kyoto in November and with all the planning, I'm familiar with the Arashiyama sights, but your suggestion to hire a bike is gold! Am now re-thinking my day there. If Tenryuji is a possible skip, what about Daikakuji? Great video by the way, I'm now a new subscriber.
Hi thanks for the support!! And good question, I didn't get to Daikaku-ji this time, but I actually like it. Definitely better than Tenryu-ji, in my opinion. Worth a visit! And yeah, I love bicycling around, like I said it was my first time doing it and I was shocked by how pleasant it was! Got a lot more done than by foot.
Thank you for the great video and especially the monkeys. We are going to be in Kyoto in the fall and wonder if you recommend the Kyoto Arashiyama Yusai
Thanks for the comment! About Yumeyusai-- I think it's very beautiful and if you have the time and want to get pictures, it's very nice, especially if you're visiting when the leaves are changing colors. It is however ¥2000 a person. If interested, you'll definitely need to make a reservation online!
@@piqtourjapan Thanks! from your experience, do you think we need to make the reservations way in advance? or 1-2 days before should still be possible? (no guarentees, just your thoughts on this)
I went there as well last november and stayed at Mulan hostel. The scenery was awesome both inside the city and outside it took less than 20min by foot to get that sweet japanese rural feeling 😊
You can be in and out of the forest in ten seconds if you want. Getting there is very fast from Kyoto station. Monkey Park, however, requires a 15-20 minute hike to the top before you can see the monkeys. There's two different stations there you'd probably use: Arashiyama and Saga-Arashiyama. Depends on where you're coming from. It's something you'd just want to Google Map directions for.
@piqtourjapan will be coming from Kyoto Station. Planning on getting to bamboo forest first before too many crowds? Then to Monkey Park? Also want to visit Higashiyama area just to take a pic of Yasaka Pagoda and visit Yasaka srhine when lit up. Gion or Pontocho for dinner. Not sure how to group together for 2 night? Just myself and teen so dinner not expensive 😁

0:45 When I go to the website given in the video to get the itinerary, I get a "404 Page not found" message. Is that website working?
Oops that was my fault! Should be all fixed, thanks for letting me know!
@@piqtourjapan It works now. Thanks! Love the video. I want to go back now!
Whats the website?@piqtourjapan
How long would it take for quick walk through bamboo forest and Monkey Park? Which station is closest?
