- Moving along with the rear quarter panel repair. Before I can go any further, the inner wheel arch or wheel house needs to be repaired. This edge had rusted out. Possibly due to mud collection or missing seam sealer. I am breaking up this section into at least 3 pieces which will make it easier to fabricate and fit. I'm using a technique similar to Fitzee on you tube. Check him out. Its a great channel and is chock full of great tips.

Classic cars are all about the history of that car or that model. People who love classics do so because they love the history. This series is creating history with a historic car. I love it.
Thank you for your lovely comments. Totally agree. This poor Old car was left to die, its largely what motivates me. to bring it back to what it should be. Glad you're enjoying the videos.
Cheers John.
Very helpful video. Great as usual.
Thank you!! Really appreciate that. Cheers John
super
Thank you. Cheers John 🍻
Hi John. Have a look at the Dave's Garage. He is doing similar things but to a Ford Escort. He has some different techniques worthy of note. Richard.
Thank you. I'll definitely check him out. Cheers John 🍻
Incredible job. It’s like you are literally making the car from scratch. You have amazing patience.
P.S. what happened in the last few seconds of the video 😂
P.P.S.
I just went to Fitzee’s channel. It says Canada and his accent sounds Irish to me. Good Lord he is doing some major bodywork on that car he has.
Thank you for your comments. I left the outtake in for a laugh:) Also it tells me you watched till the end:):) I think Fitzee is from Newfoundland.
Cheers John 🍻
Nice John, heard the weather is unreal this winter. So good to see progress happening, with this model is it all about the engine and the body really is just a standard body or are you finding support features not found on other models with this body?
Hi Mark. Yes, the weather has been miserable. Ideal welding weather:) The body is identical to the standard length w108s. The only difference is a 4" extension in the floorpan and rear doors and of course a longer roof. Engine is in a holding pattern while I wait for parts and pistons to be made. Block cylinders cleaned up at 0.75mm over. Crank has polished up beautifully and is standard. All that will need to be balanced. Slowly chipping away at it:)
Cheers John 🍻
