Could you please pass along to prospective Hallmark movie writers that the answer to the question “do you mind…?” is NO, if in fact you don’t mind. For example “Do you mind if I come in?” No, or not at all, please come in.
“Do you mind if I join you?” No, I welcome the company.
If you say “yes,” that means you do mind and want to be left alone.
Every Hallmark movie I have ever watched has at least one line in it with this mistake. If you have any power to correct this anyone who recognizes good grammar will appreciate you.
