@@blu5018 Sooo many vocal majors get triggered if people use classical terms when referring to non-classical, contemporary vocalists. So I try to stay out of all that lol.
@@Thismeekpotato Well I'm going into music production so not classical but I just wanted to let you know in case you didn't. Idk, it's with any field but music is easier to get into and people say that music theory isn't important, that names aren't important so I get it.
Had a kid ask me to write a senior vocal song for him that was, no shit, a solo a capella with oboes and bassoons. Then had the gall to tell me that music theory wasn't important which is why we get hella protective. There's so much misinformation concerning music and people teaching others when they themself don't understand.
Are vocal types classical? It comes more from opera I thought. I know way more about piano than I do voice.
@@blu5018 In classical, there is no voice type called an alto. However, terminology changes and there is enough of a difference between contralto and a dramatic mezzo soprano that there are enough people who lie between them in range, and between them in their passagio and their tessitura, resulting in a lot of people seeing alto as a voice type now. While it may not be technically correct according to classical terms, and still debated heavily, a lot of vocal technicians do see alto as a voice type now.
