I'd love to see a third party take this base design and upgrade it. Having a cab section that separates is amazing! If only they used better materials, had a better head sculpt, had folding wings, and added some paint.
LOL! I paused it at the 1:10 mark and just laughed. "It feels like... junk." I am going to have to come back to this review in a hour to build up the anticipation because that made me laugh out loud and I hope it lives up to the feeling of.. junk. Needed a good laugh and I got it!

Times like this I'm just glad I'm happy with my S1 & 2 Decepticon shelf. Also really glad Octane was never 1 my favorite characters. Man, I was optimistically hoping for a different outcome on this figure. I kind of had a feeling it wouldn't be good with what was being said about it on the on the boards. Bittetsweet that I am saving $120 but that proverbial box is not being checked. Thanks for your honest review sir, it is always appreciated.

I watched your ditka review 3 times in a row and kept saying " don't buy it don't buy. It's not good he can't stand" so I did the only logical thing and ignore everything you said and I was pleasantly surprise. He can't stand for shit but damn does he look good. I jest a little since he does stand in a A stand. I'm getting the replacement parts tomorrow so hopefully that helps. Keep being the gangsta you are bobby!!

If the mad him scale with Ultra Magnus this will actually work,........ This figure is very very complex....... being a triple changer the only thing that would make this work better would be to make it bigger so you have more room to hide all the different parts.
i think there are some poor approaches though like the armatures connecting the shoulders that need to be reworked

This one looks uber toon accurate, including the bot and face. I love how they did that.
But Provider looks far more interesting, even though it's very stylized.
I have reconciled the truck and plane scale issues by envisioning the plane as a downsized drone, as opposed to being a full sized tanker jet.
Got him anyway since it's good on the shelf and about the only G1 accurate option for a while

To give it its due, it does look good in all three modes - no 'also ran', in my opinion. The compromise would seem to be the number of floppy multijointed armatures in the transformation. Even if they are more durable than they look, they are unlikely to be fun.
My big issue, though, more with X-trans than KFC, is the way they back down vs the competition. Dante seems like it could hold its own sculpt-wise against the other 3P/MP Inferno's; Virtus looks like the best likeness of Springer. I want to give them a chance but why would I commit to a preorder if their releases may not see timely release, if at all?

Looks like they were trying to design it for that one scene from that one episode I think it's called Ghost of Starscream. That would explain the face and why the wings are so close to the front

I've heard from one designer that KFC use a cheaper plastic and in some toys will use a thicker wall thickness to make up for this. So of course when a toy comes along that doesn't rely on really thick plastic, the poor quality will show through.

Great review as usual man! One of the trends I’ve noticed with Keith is that his newer designs are improvements, it’s the ones that he’s had on the back burner, like this one, where we’ve seen renders and test shots for 3 years. It’s like doesn’t believe in refining anything outside of Ollie. It kinda leaves me with little hope for his Hubcap and Cliffjumper, outside of display pieces.

Considering how good the Junkions were made, this does looks and feels cheap! It’s like they half assed and rushed it before Xmas. Totally passed on this and thanks for saving me $110 👍🏻

I wanted this when i saw it at TFcon but was waited on your review on this since lately, a lot of 3rd party products that was hinted in the past with release delays comes out disappointing
to your skit: me and my sister made it a game to find our Christmas gifts every year until we move in with our grandparents. My grandparents will jus show it in front of our face and dare us to open them before Christmas. We value our lives too much to take them up on their dare/threat lol

Looks quite good, it's a shame about the truck size and the shoulder locking mechanism in robot mode, I would have used a clip rather than a peg... other than that I really like it!

It is a damned shame the plastic used on this guy looks so cheap, because the engineering behind the design for the most part looks pretty intelligent. Pretty clean back for a triple changer, and I dig the cab separating from the trailer. But, damn, that plastic looks super cheap on camera, you can even see the light illuminating how thin it is in the hip skirts. For the price point, to use that material and the lack of paint, this is a giant step backward for KFC, sadly. Solid review, Bobby!

Thanks once again for helping save my wallet from certain disaster. What a huge missed opportunity for KFC. It's like he traded his original recipe and his extra crispy for a vegan option. (nothing against vegans by the way) Fantastic video review as always! That's a great idea, hiding the gifts in plain sight, so to speak. My parents did the same for me and I never caught on except for one gift.

If he's a collecter, he shouldn't worry about it's quality, if it's going to collect dust on the shelves. This is why people need to appreciate The Movie's Toyline. They made such high standards that it feels out of place for some people to have a MP styled figure that only looks like a couple of blocks glued together.

I had to stop watching through my fingers. Shame as the alt modes clean up to a degree. Maybe this mold taken up by mmc or faaanstoys could turn out better

Interesting, you prefered painting on the plastics rather than colored plastics assembled together. I liked the latter because the color won't chipped away.
The materials is really bad and the sculpt makes it worst

The weak jet mode, the lack of paint, and that horrible shoulder engineering, all of those issues are going to keep me away from this release; which is surprising because I really liked their Kingzilla and Kingorilla releases. Way back when this was announced I was really looking forward to this release, but just like their Ditka, the final product fell horribly short. Honestly, I have a tough time believing the same designers came up with all 4 of those releases...

I know triple changers are hard to do. And I know (with Octane especially) it's hard to get correct scale with alt modes. But, DAMN! This looks like a piece of junk! Announced in 2015 and this is what the finished product looks like? Usually at least one mode is it's saving grace, but all modes look bad. Easy pass for me.

I like BSF and his reviews, but this figure is not junk or cheap. I got mine yesterday and I'm very happy with it. The shoulders don't come untabbed as easily as this copy. And the lack of paint is overrated! Please don't let this guy scare you away from this figure. Lots of his negative opinion on the figure is exaggerated! I will tell before this video was made it had no chance with BSF. His opinion was made before he even opened it. The plastic is a little soft, but not cheap or junk.
Transformed mine about 6 or 7 times with no issue's or stress marks at all. That doesn't mean that others won't. I don't man handle my toys. I'm cautious and gentle with my figures when handling them. Is it a perfect figure....No. But that can be said about every Mp figure 3rd party or official. Kfc nailed G1 Ocatane. This passes for what I seen in the G1 toon. Bobby is I think graphics designer and anything with no paint bores him. This is a triple changer. Parts have to touch each other and with that I prefer color molded plastic vs paint. Paint looks very nice and I agree on that. But it's the worse when it chips and scratches or fades. I usually watch many reviews before I'm influenced. And I'm glad I got this octane from kfc to go with my Meteor. Very Happy! The entire life of my figures are in bot mode and sit in a display. If you want and are looking for a Mp Octane from the show. Then I do recommend this figure. It's Octane to me. The silver face doesn't bother me. I actually like it. I think it's silly how many want white, or off white face or something because of the show. I ask myself so silver didn't exist in Sunbow show? Lol. I think the white or off white is a bit boring and lame. But I understand those who want it and like it. I say you be the judge of what you want and like. Fact is BSF is and was unfair in judging this figure. I also think he may be a little Burned out on doing these reviews. Maybe he should take a break. I was a bit scared getting this figure, but I'm happy I did. He at least is a good fill in until a better one comes. But until then, this is hands down the best G1 Octane available. Yes the alt modes are small and that doesn't bother me much as nobody can make that right given what his alt modes are. I didn't buy him for that. I bought him to be in bot mode and be Ocatne that I remember seeing as a kid. And this figure pulls that off good enough. I was more disappointed in Ft T.G, Moot, Ditka, Mp 25 Tracks, Mp22, Boost, Downbeat, Ft and Badcube insectiocons, and the list goes on. BSF can be overly picky and unfair sometimes. In this case it's my opinion that he was.

Bobby Skullface L Appreciate the reply boss. It's a great figure. I have felt figures that felt much more poor and executed. Ft Koot was a big disappoint and Telsa, and Xtb Ollie, Spinout. This figure is one of the best for me. It could have been done better in some ways. This figure is sitting on my shelf and when I look at it, it's Octane. In the toon he didn't have a lot of paint. And paint doesn't make or break a figure at all. I have transformed and played with this figure about a dozen time's and no stress marks anywhere or any issue's. Still the best Octane available and I'm not even sure Ft could do better. With the fail of Terminus with those ugly knee gaps and human face. And all of his balancing issue's and problems and Koot I can't even transform without the fear of it breaking. I don't have that issue with this. Lots of members on Tfw2005 even disagree with the exaggerated that you claim "It's junk" fact is it's not. Lots of people trust you and take what you say as gospel. They should not. I don't and never do with any reviewer. You come off in this video as having something personal with this figure. It's pretty obvious it never had a chance with you. Because I know for a fact most who will pass on this because of you're opinion will lose out on at least for some of them a good or decent Octane. And that ain't right. You are one of my favorite reviewer's, and I feel like a little disappointed in you because some of what you said about is was not entirely accurate. I have never said that about you or any reviewer. Given the privilege you got you should be fair to every figure and unbiased or personal.

I'm with you on this, Bobby, this thing thing's junk...things don't even wanna peg in, all that great, in certain areas. Hell, even Hasbro's Titans Return version of this character does better (peg ins-wise [also, in my own opinion]). I'm just hoping, someone like MT, MMC, or someone will come along & make a better version of this character, & make things peg in WAY better! Only positive I'll give this, is that I like how the truck & trailer can separate from each other, & that's about it.

Kudos to Bobby for calling this out. Quality looks like a huge piece of shat!! Too many small connecting parts that could break very easily. The scale looks a little small too. Gonna pour some salt on the wound. I wouldn't spend more than $50 on this piece of crap plastic!
