I just got my first mice. Actually they were saved when the snake that was meant to eat them went on a hunger strike so I decided to give them a great life. I can’t wait to try this, I think they will love this
I do something similar! I use coco coir in a small bun and sprinkle their seeds in (i use parakeet seeds) and mist it every day with a spray bottle. After a few days this seeds sprout and the mice absolutely LOVE foraging through it and it's an awesome healthy treat that keeps them hydrated.
omg my rats are going to dig this... I'm sorry I thought of it while watching and I had to slip one dad joke in😂 but they are gonna lovvveeeeee this 😊😂
I am happy to see your animals are happy i recently lost my animals in a house fire and i am devastated but seeing yours makes me smile may your animals live full and happy lives
I am going to make a dig box for my mouse too! This was great inspiration. I didn't know they could eat meal worms, I am going to try that since i have some for my reptiles anyway! thank you!
that’s really nice i just have 1 question. Did your parents says yes to getting mice or did you have to convince them?, if you had to convince them can you give me some tips on how you convinced your parents? (sorry if this is weird i just really need my mom to say yes lol)
emiology you’ll never guess it!!! i’m getting three female cuties on the 27th i’m so excited and am binging your videos! if you responded it would mean the world to me.
Only thing i'd worry about are the seeds molding if left uneaten, the coco fiber is pretty wet when first mixed, other than that the idea is a great source of enrichment!
Yeah I wouldn’t leave something like this in the cage, I’d take it out and replace the soil. You can however with larger boxes plant grass seeds that will eventually grow 🙂
I've made dig boxes using the reptile coconut dirt and my rats just pooped in it, even when I put snacks in for them to dig out... i kinda feel bad for those mealworms, but mice gotta eat.
I want to do this too but i was wondering if the sand is okay. Like isn't it dusty and can cause itches? or is it okay because its wet? one of my mice had that problem with the wrong bedding so im cautious now.
A wonderful idea. It's great seeing an alternative to just mixing food in with carefresh. Do you think coco fibre could be used safely as a main substrate, for other small rodents too? (Just thinking aloud). When you were adding the coco fibre to the jar it looked like it was still damp. If the jar stayed in the cage too long could that pose a risk of the dried food going mouldy and the air inside the jar being damp as the fibre warms up (potentially causing respiratory problems)?
Just note that mealworms although great as a treat for rats are a lot of protein and can cause cancer but great as a treat sorry I tried to put that as the least mum way possible xx
Is it ok for mice to travel a lot? I really want to get mice but they would have to travel quite often. They would live at my moms house as well as my grandmas for about two weeks at a time.
would rats like a dig box sort of “enclosed” like this, but larger? i wanna make sure dirt doesn’t end up everywhere but i also don’t want them to feel trapped
My mice won’t eat meal worms neither with my hamster fresh or dried out they don’t touch it? Also a few of my mice struggle to keep their eyes open and sleep constantly and one for sure has a respiratory infection. Pet store bought and their tank wasn’t even 8L in total. Now have a detolf cage and lots of hides not so much substrate but have carefresh digging areas and tissue hides
do you have any tips about what to look out for when buying the soil? im planning to buy it in bulk from my local gardening place cause my digbox is going to be pretty big, but im paranoid that ill somehow get stuff that isnt ok for them and will give them a respiratory problem
Hi I just got 2 three month old rats from the SPCA a couple weeks ago. At the moment I am free feeding them oxbow adult rat food along with some fruits and vegetables that they get in the evening. Do I need to include a seed mix in their diet? And is free feeding okay or will they get fat?
The oxbow is a complete diet meaning it’s nutritionally balanced so I wouldn’t be adding an extra mix on top of that. I’d also recommend you only feed them once a day, the oxbow should have feeding guidelines on the packaging for how much 🙂
How much of that dirt can I reasonably use? I'm currently looking for things to have a large amount of in my male mouses bedding as he's currently got Uri but I'm struggling to find things that are cheap but that aren't dusty
im so glad there's finally a youtuber making a lot of mice content! its hard to find!
You should check out creek valley critters :)
I love the amount of care and extra enrichment you give your animals. They're very lucky to have you. You go above and beyond ❤
I really dig this video :)
256 colors that pun needs a pun-ishment :)
basically the best intro 4 anyone thinking adopting or rescuing mice ʕ→ᴥ←ʔ
Aww mice digging is the cutest thing ever♥️🐭

it's so nice seeing animals trying their natural behaviors! you can see how excited and happy they are 💘

I am going to make a dig box for my mouse too! This was great inspiration. I didn't know they could eat meal worms, I am going to try that since i have some for my reptiles anyway! thank you!
ahh I'm 100% doing this! I have this huge ceramic plant pot I've been meaning to make use of and this is a great way to do it!

I got baby rats today! There boys! I named them: Latte and Mocha
I wondered if that's even big enough to dig in but I forgot that your mice is really small :p
That looks like fun
If I were my mom and I was a mouse then I think u would be the best care taker ever keep up the good work😊
My boy Cocaine’s gonna love this!! Gotta do this for him
emiology you’ll never guess it!!! i’m getting three female cuties on the 27th i’m so excited and am binging your videos! if you responded it would mean the world to me.
Damn they gnawed those mealworms from head to tail. Savage way to go for the worms!
This is awesome! ❤️ Love the footage of them digging for goodies! ❤️🥰❤️
Only thing i'd worry about are the seeds molding if left uneaten, the coco fiber is pretty wet when first mixed, other than that the idea is a great source of enrichment!

Well I know what my project is going to be tomorrow. Awesome video thanks!

Hi I was wondering did you use live or dry mealworms for your mice, thanks 😊
I want to do this too but i was wondering if the sand is okay. Like isn't it dusty and can cause itches? or is it okay because its wet? one of my mice had that problem with the wrong bedding so im cautious now.
Hey I have a question could I use dirt for this or no btw I love your vids
What could you use instead of Coco soil? That isn't an option for my little family due to an allergy
Great idea! We just got two mice I will definitely try this with them. Thanks for sharing :)
I'm gonna do this for my 5 girls today! Thank you!! 💜

It wasn’t kept in the cage 🙂
Would this work with Rats too? Obviously a bigger container.
Yep!
Emiology thanks!

@@wallframe5271 how do mealworms cause cancer
@@cearajennie8001 literally theyre in the ground in the wild lmao

wow! this is amazing I cant wait to try this out with my mice!!! :))
Neat! I'm gonna need to do something like that for my gerbils. ^_^
Ahh I am going to give this a try with my disabled mouse Pip. Thank you
My two mice have one they love it
Awe. Those are some happy mice

Be carful with this and clean it After use as some food goes bad when I contact with bedding (coco fibre )
Most food. Go mouldy when in coco fibre
For too long. This make it unsafe for mice or other to be in this
good idea but it can easily go really bad.
love this! my two mice really enjoy there’s :D
This is such a cute idea! Love it 😊
do you have any tips about what to look out for when buying the soil? im planning to buy it in bulk from my local gardening place cause my digbox is going to be pretty big, but im paranoid that ill somehow get stuff that isnt ok for them and will give them a respiratory problem
You can use store-bought organic soil as long as it has nothing else added into it like fertilizer/etc
I know that they dont need it but would a dust free sand bath be good for enrichment purposes in a mouse enclosure or is there risks?
I have two little 7 inch by 5 inch ceramic pots I'm using as dig boxes and I cant wait to bring my mice home🥺
How do you store the extra coco soil? I have a block but dont want it to go all gross in storage
Can I use kaytee bedding instead of dirt for a mini nest like what the dig box is?
This is such a good idea and definitely something I'll have to try out with my mice! What type of hay do you use for them?
Just dust free hay 🙂
Careful, they might make their next in there! Lol super cool I'm definitely gonna do this for my mice 👌
Can this also be used for rats? But bigger of course.
Anyone know if this is hedgehog safe? Obviously id do a bigger version, but just wanted to know if the fiber is dangerous for them
Is natural coco coir the same as coco soil?
do you find that your mice like to burrow? I'm bringing home 3 females soon and with the setup I have 11 inches of bedding
What size mason jar did you use? I'm trying to order some so can make this. It's a brilliant idea x
Can I use normal earth for my gerbils?
Can I also do this with gerbils?

Ok thank you. It says unlimited on the bag sooo
I'm gonna make this! I have like 11 mice so it's perfect! 9 Are babys cause the mommy just gave birth.
Can you use the one you used for rats too? Thnx :)
yep
Would small superworms be an acceptable substitute?
How much of that dirt can I reasonably use?
I'm currently looking for things to have a large amount of in my male mouses bedding as he's currently got Uri but I'm struggling to find things that are cheap but that aren't dusty
Can you use sand instead of dirt?
The soil contains mold which could harm mice ?
No?
i am now going to try and find a small bin for my new natural cage im working on.
Would you suggest buying the coco fibre blocks or bags?
I’ve never seen it in bags but either should be fine as long as it’s all natural 🙂
@@Emiology thank you!
Where do you get mealworms?
Can you do the same with a larger container and rats?
yep!
i'm scared that i'm not looking after my mice correctly, can you do a full mouse care video
Where do u get the fancy mice?
When all you can do is think about your acc and 😊 SMILE 😊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Can mice use play sand ?
