Use all store brand on your processed grains! That will save you a few dollars and they're almost always lower in sugar. We've been using the Amazon Fresh brand rice squares and toasted o's in our latest mix and sometimes will add the puffed rice. Also don't shy away from "ethnic" sections. I get my egg noodles and sometimes my seeds and herbs from there for a really good price. The seeds are pricy but you got a good mix that should last you at least a few batches! And once you start dehydrating your own veggies you'll save a lot, too. Especially if you're like me and you buy them fresh veg but they start to go bad before the girls can eat it all. Too much kale or basil? Into the air fryer to dehydrate they do! Also have to mention that two eggs a week is a lot for adult females. Since you're using fortified cereals, you shouldn't need quite as much supplementing. If you ever eat chicken legs or wings, wash off any salt and seasoning from the bones and they can have those as a good calcium source too.
Hi Viki! Thank you so very much for your comment! I really do appreciate it. And yes I am a store brand junkie lol. Even for myself I will not purchase things name brand cuz I know about name brand tax lol. I haven't checked out those two products though so I will definitely give them a go! And yes I had, since this video was published, started giving them just one a week instead. Usually I wouldn't give them the full thing anyways but just to be more on the safe side I didn't want to over feed them in their nutrients. I had not thought about checking that side of the grocery store for herbs and veg! I will definitely do that. And omg thank you for reminding me that I can dehydrate with my air fryer. That is genuinely going to be so life-saving. I appreciate you and your comment 💜
I looked into doing that too. From what I read is it kind of defeats the "purpose" and could possibly overdo it on specific nutrients. But if your rats are healthy and it works I feel like that's probably the most important thing 💜💜 thank you for watching!
THIS IS SO HELPFUL THANK YOU!!!!!!! ive been researching some stuffon youtube and this is by far the most helpful to me so far!! SO TY YAY :D MY RATTIES WILL LOVE THIS
hello! i hope you reply because ive been following this recipe and its been going great, however i noticed in the pigeon mix theres rice weevils (confirmed i did my googling) do i have to worry about them or is it just “extra protein” for the rats lol please reply!!!
Hi! Oh gosh I've heard of that happening:( you should be able to freeze the bag and it will kill them, but I HIGHLY recommend joining the Facebook group because they talk about the best way to handle that! I'm definitely not an expert and don't think it would be smart of me to give my advice in this matter since I haven't gone thru it 💜 I'm glad you're liking the mix
Sorry about that! You can get the supplements from Dr squiggles online. Unfortunately it's from Europe so if you get a bulk buy it's a little bit more worth your dollar. The grubs are from Amazon! If you look up fly grubs for chickens it should pop up
Thank you for this informative video. It gave me some directions on what ro do for a rats diet. I'm planning to get rats once i move homes and i was wondering what their diets contain and what are some good brands.
I would get the oxbow adult rat food. I think the cheapest place to get it is at Amazon! Unfortunately I have, since this video, switched back over to oxbow because two of my girls seem to do significantly better on it, but I still love the shunamite for what it is
To be honest I'm not entirely sure. Everything I've seen has been based off of weight, if you get on to the shoot of my Facebook they might have that question answered. I will say you can typically find kitchen scales for like $3 at a lot of thrift shops or Walmart has some that are less than $10 :) or if you know anyone who would let you borrow it for a day, what I did initially was weigh it all out and then I marked every single container with how much volume ended up being the right weight and then you don't need the scale again, you can just use a marked container. I hope that made sense!
The truest love for your pets is either having them fostered while you can't afford them and then get them back or to find a home which can take and love them fully. As difficult as that is, it's best for them. You let one of them mate and didn't have proper nutrition. The truth can hurt and also wake us up to grow. Best of wishes, luck and wellness
Wait what? Lol a few things. Yes I think fostering is a wonderful option for people who can't take care of their pets properly. No I did not let any of my rats mate. I have never had a male rat in my home or my mischief. I have also never let one of my girls go without nutrition. There was a time when one of my girls couldn't properly eat and I was literally hand feeding her liquid three times a day. I go through extreme lengths to make sure my girls are properly cared for and your insinuations is not welcome here. I'm not really sure where you're getting these ideas. If you've watched one of my newer videos I did get four new girls, but they came from a friend who couldn't care for them any longer. Not sure if I fully understand your comment but if you're actually insinuating that onto me I don't even know where you'd get that idea? Please clarify if that's not what you meant.

@@amethystscorner I'll have to find that Facebook group then.
hey!! i have a question where did you buy your food before you started making it?

what if you dont have a scale? could you measure in table spoons per rat?

as someone who is on a budget 😀 how long does the batch usually last ?
With three girls this batch lasted 4 months and I had leftover's for everything
Dried corn isn’t good for rats tho
There's two kinds of dried corn and this one is safe according to the professionals in the Facebook group
