    I was doing tthis job but gor stuck, because i could not see the nut from the reservoir that was holding it, thank to this video I will complete the job, ... just wondering what head size is the bolt on the slider bolt of the reservoir at the back, Thanks, for the video!!

      Hi I’m glad the video is helping. I don’t remember what size the bolt is. That’s one of the things about working on your own car and doing mechanic stuff.
      Sure it’s helpful to have bolt sizes and all the tools but in many, many cases, you’re gonna have to have a set of sockets, some patients and the mental fortitude to figure out which socket fits on that bolt.
      Best of luck to you my friend, and remember don’t give up! 😁 you got this👍

    I have a 2005 Chrysler town and country. Can started overheating so I looked under hood. Was leaking coolant out of radiator. Added coolant for the next few weeks to keep it from getting hot. Finally had a chance to work on van and changed out radiator, water pump, thermostat, and today the temp sensor. Still overheats….. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Oh ya, it says it gets hot and even goes up all the way to red but doesn’t smoke and doesn’t make noise like a vehicle would that’s overheating. When I’m stopped at a stop light after running van for 10 min from cold it starts doing this. It goes up then when I drive it goes down and up, down and up. Then eventually it may stay up…..

    • @jasont1917
      @jasont1917 Год назад

      Your temp sensor goes up and down because you have an air bubble in the system. Could also be a head gasket leak pushing air into your coolant system. You will need to do a pressure test to verify your head gasket is not leaking. If test pass on head gasket then I would start trying to burp the system of air. Do some Google research on air in system.

    That’s awesome half a million on a caravan, I have 05 gold ugliest thing on the block I park it next to my Benz. Put a new radiator and still 🥵 so I’ll do the straw test thanks man!! Hope it’s one of the fans and not the temperature sensor. I am a pencil pusher so I feel ok w changing the fan one bolt but what you are doing in this vid... I hope 🤞 its just a fan. 132k on my van hope to give it a little more lifeline

      N2TheOcean Every 3000 to 3500 miles I change the oil. Every around 50,000 miles I did the transmission fluid up until around 300,000 miles. But other people of had problems who will maintain their vehicles well. It’s not some holy grail guaranteed thing, right? 300K The last time I had a transmission fluid change. And it still goes! Some of its maintenance and some of it’s by the grace of God go I, I suppose. Just got a really lucky with a well put together model I guess. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I haven’t had that much luck with my 2011 so far.

    • @N2TheOcean
      @N2TheOcean 5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for sharing the info. Just my two cents here, but I'd say your maintenance habits have made a significant difference on the 4th generation model. I have known of a few cases where people have squeeze just over 200 to 220gs out of them at tops with the average miles being around 150 to 175g on the tranny itself, but over 300gs is a first for me. The other model, it's reliability I know little to nothing about. But have considered buying one. All in all, thanks again. And great videos. You're very articulate at explaining things - with an occasional twist with humor. Its all good … makes for a more interesting video that holds a person's attention. Thanks again. And kind regards from Charleston, SC ~

    UPDATE! I am so stupid! That green thingy isn't even the temp sensor! I found it right by the heater hose underneath the coil pack (of which I had yet to remove). Grrrr!
    Question? what is the sensor for on top of the plenum close to the P.S. reservoir. I mistakenly put pressure on it and the harness connector just snapped off with pins still in the sensor. A WHOLE NEW SET OF PROBLEMS! (I am a rookie clutz!)

  • @joejackson227
    @joejackson227 5 лет назад

    HELP! I did everything you did religiously. I have a 2005 3.3L Caravan. But after "finally" getting the P.S reservoir off and up out of the way, I DO NOT HAVE THE SAME SENSOR AS YOU ARE SHOWING.
    I have a light green one (appears to be plastic) and has a harness connector on the SIDE and a aluminum looking bar coming out from underneath the plenum that attaches to the top of the ECT. Can you give me any idea as to where to go from here? I have already made screw ups. I will explain when I hear back from you. Thanks for your advice/assistance.

    Hi, did you have the van with less power when engaged ? I am having the P0113 but my van hardly moves when I hit the pedal, Thanks

    • @RussShawTV
      @RussShawTV  3 года назад

      P0113 means that your Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is reading at too high of a voltage.
      Is it overheating too? What year is your caravan?

  • @krazeekidz3
    @krazeekidz3 5 лет назад

    Hello! I found BOTH of your overheating videos excellent! I have 2002 Voyager and I had a P0118 code and BOTH of my cooling fans were burned out. (I used jumpers and tested with the battery) I replaced the coolant temp sensor and went to the salvage yard and bought both fans. $45 for both. Before I install these new/used fans, I'm hoping you might be able to tell me if there is anything that would burn these fans out? I don't want to waste the money that I just spent on the fans. I also have a new fan relay, just in case. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
    P.S. I'm having my 10 year old son help, so that he is knowledgeable and comfortable with working on cars himself, too!
    Thanks so very much!!

      Valerie Johnson That’s Awesome! Glad it’s working for you. The fans do you bring out. Electric engines in those fans don’t last for ever. Especially in a hot climate. Here in the Seattle area doesn’t get that hot and I’ve heard people from hotter regions burn out those electric fans a lot more often. It’s good that you’ve replaced the temperature sensor. Cover your bases. Give your son a high five for me and thanks for training the future mechanics of the world! 😁👍💯🙏

    Okay... Here's the deal. I was told by AZ that my catalytic converter was bad, causing to get hot. Could cost 3-900 bucks. But I overheat like you explained. But I noticed my fans aren't coming on like they should be when it is hot. So I'm thinking that is the bigger problem. What do you think?

    • @RussShawTV
      @RussShawTV  4 года назад +1

      I've never herd of a cat problem causing an engine overheat. There are some good videos out there how to diagnose cat with a temp gun. A good test is to turn on your A/C after your van has been running for 3 or 4 min. Both fans should come on. Try that and get back to me.

      @@RussShawTV Okay sounds good. I've been pretty busy Or I'da gotten back sooner. I will try it. Some times I hear them but usually after I've lost a lot of water. And my gauge doesn't always say it's over heated just reads half hot most of the time. it will reach full red at top of gauge, when Radiator is real empty.. (Winter time example). I run with heat on, man it's bad right now.. hahah But does work to cool down

    • @RussShawTV
      @RussShawTV  4 года назад

      Snowman374th Yeah the gauge doesn’t work very well once you’ve lost a lot of water. But yeah man odds are, In my experience “if I’m a betting man” if you replace that radiator it will clear up your problems. Also being in Arizona in triple digit season I would use a higher quality coolant when you replace it.
      Be careful down there in Arizona I got some Family down there. I’ve heard the Covid-19 virus has had a resurgence there.

    Can barleaks solve problems short term ?

    • @RussShawTV
      @RussShawTV  4 года назад

      Tr3 smith yes but only for a short time. Too much that stuff will clog up your radiator And for that matter the rest of your cooling system which can cause big problems over time. But yeah if you need it to last for a week or two while you wait for your paycheck or something it can do the trick. Don’t expect it to last too long term though.

      Did you replace the thermostat? Sounds like your old girl has a clogged cooling system. I would change the thermostat and do a drain and fill. Drain radiator and refill with new 50/50 coolant. ruclips.net/video/ZPSCW8Oys1w/видео.html My Thermostat video. And make your own 50/50 cheaper. If that don't work odds are she's gonna need a new radiator.
