    Here’s a trick to check the cooling fans just turn on your ac on max the ac system needs the fans to run to operate correctly. The fans after 2 to 3 seconds should fire up and run. If the fans work with the ac but the car still over heats with the ac off then check relays. The way it works is the computer will ground the cooling fan relays and turn the fans on since the fans can be run at different speeds you may have a few relays controlling the fans. The reason I say try the ac first is because if the fans run with the ac then that tells me you have a relay issue if the fans don’t come on with the ac then there might be something wrong with the fans themselves. The fans will always kick on with the ac turned on full blast.

      Well my fan turns on with the AC, but it doesn’t work without the AC.
      I’m curious to know why my car still overheats when the AC is on with the fan running. Please give me some advice 🙏

    • @ryans413
      @ryans413 11 месяцев назад +5

      @@oprahd.lizard2984 if the fans come on with the AC on but the car starts overheating with the AC off then yes you have something else that’s wrong. Once the temperature reaches a certain point the computer will kick on the fans usually at low speed depending on how hot the cars getting. You’ll have AC fan relay and usually 3 relays for fan speeds. When the AC is on the fans run at full blast that’s how the AC works when the AC is not on and the car starts to get hot the computer will kick on the fans at low medium or high speeds. This is typical if it’s a hot day and your sitting in traffic not moving the engine gets hot with no air passing over the radiator so the fans might come on at low speed. So to sum up if the fans work with the AC but not with the AC off check all the fan relays. When the temperature gets above 200F or 90C they should kick on.

    • @ryans413
      @ryans413 11 месяцев назад +5

      @@thankgoduzoma82 you might have a blown head gasket if it’s still getting hot with the AC on. Plus that might have happened because the fans didn’t work with the AC off it got to hot blew the gasket.

It will do that a few times during the ride. I also notice the heat will then fluctuate between hot and cold. The temp gauge at highway speeds will show increasing temps and it will hit the top causing a beeping sound, but then the temp goes down and there's no sign of actual overheating - just a constant up and down on the gauge.

    On my old Lincoln LS the procedure to de-air was to park the car on an incline. Meaning the front of the car higher than back. Open the coolant port and run the car with heat. This causes water to circulate and air to rise and exit out. After about 5-10min close it. Then use the bleed line. Some cars have a small port you can open and it bleeds out some coolant. For what it’s worth hope it helps someone

    Man, I have a beautiful 02' Blazer ZR2 4.3 w/300k on her & she used to run at 200 on hot days with a 195° thermostat.
    Now she's running around 210° (1/2 way mark) after driving just a few miles on hot days. Then it'll raise a tad past 210.
    That's never happened. The water pump is pumping. I can see it flowing when the thermostat opens.
    Maybe this is normal but I've never noticed it in the past.
    She'll get a tad higher when towing a very small 5x9' utility trailer with 200lbs in it. I'm South of Houston.
    I've flushed, cleaned the outside of radiator, not loosing coolant, did a flush twice in the past 2yrs & didn't look bad, got a new 195° thermostat, coolant, Severe Duty Clutch Fan & I've purged my system twice. I believe all my air is out.
    The new fan is odd, it is working or engaging when parked & getting warm or just after the thermostat opens, it just doesn't cool it down much or I cannot hear like I can when I'm driving but it's working. It's a new Hayden 2786.
    Might be normal because it runs around 200° in the mornings & holds that temp whether towing or not. It's just when it's really hot outside like 90° or higher when the temp runs hotter than normal.
    Which is probably just fine & me worried about nothing.
    She's had a ton of work done to her & runs like new. Still getting the 02' sticker mpg, 16 in town & better on highway.

    No offense, love the video, but the coolent Reservoir you spoke of in the beginning with the high/low and was pictured dull white plastic is for overfill level, It's not your coolent level. To test the coolent level, you just fill the the radiator more and more until no more can go in. If more coolent can go into the radiator, then it's probably not full. As said later, you may have airpockets so keep on trying to fill it. Make sure it's the right kind, too.

      Actually on most cares that’s part of the cooling system and it’s pressurized. Good way to tell is if the cap reads don’t open when hot that overflow is part of the system. If the cap on the bottle has no warnings on it it’s just an expansion tank.

    Hey brother how you doing? I have a new radiator a new thermostat and all that other stuff is new but I did raise the front part and the air gets out. Trap are and I was able to put more radiator fluid in there and it helped I think. I've changed several CO2 sensors and other sensors. Just change the air flow sensor. I hope my car starts I'm not a mechanic. Once again you and your family stay healthy brother. ✌️💙🏇🏇🏇

    My problem is so unique. My AC stops working. Only option to do, since all other issues are not the problem. I have replaced the thermostat several times, last time 5 months ago. I have not needed the AC, so I haven't replaced, even though the temperature gauge stops registering, but heater still works perfect, no engine over heating. I am trying to prepare for summer weather, what can it be? Is there a specific thermostat I need for a 2.2 engine? I am never asked when I buy them, which one I need. I have asked and the dealership has said only one specified. The dealers was $75 and still same problem in a few weeks. Help! Please.

    Can someone explain how the water pump fails. If the impeller spins how is it causing the coolant to overheat? Even if coolant is leaking out of the weep hole but the coolant level is not low what causes the overheating?

    @HVACMECHANIC On my way home today my 2005 Mercury Mariner beeped and said "Hot Engine Temperature" I noticed the temperature guage was all the way on high, after I continued to drive a few miles just trying to get home from work all of sudden the truck just completely turned off right when I was about to make a turn leaving me stuck right in the middle of a busy street😢. I never got any warning prior to this so what do you feel the actual issue could be???By the way I did have my AC on and turned it off as soon as I noticed the temperature gauge was on high.

    My temps stay between 177 and 184 when the a/c is not on. Unfortunately when the a/c is on, I see the temps go up to 205. I have my radiator fans turned on all the time but even like this, the temps climb high with the a/c on. With the a/c on and at highway speeds, the temps will mostly drop to the mid 190’s depending on the outside temperature . I’m really hesitating on installing an oil cooler to assist because it just adds complexity.

    Hi, I know this video is a bit old, but Iam having an overheating problem with my Subaru,
    Its a 2007 1.5R Impreza ( hawkeye )
    - I can drive all day at lower speeds, and have a perfectly stable temperature, but if I take the car out for a long freeway drive and hold a constant 60-70mph, after some time, it can be after 30m or even 60min the temperature will all of a sudden start to climb.. all I gotta do is to let of the trottle and slow a bit down the the temp will go back down again.
    this is the second time ( second engine ) that has this happening to it, the shop told me they needed to replace the engine, and so they did, but also they replaced the radiator.
    ( big bill )
    anyway, now after a few years after the first engine was replaced, I get the exact same problem.. the temp will go up at higher speeds after a long drive, and will cool down as soon as the speed is lowered.
    Any advise ?

    The last thing could be a small amount of combustion going into the cooling system which will cause it to do those same symptoms plus make the heater go a to warm when it's on high heat.

      Flushed a bunch of rust out of the radiator system. New thermostat, New water pump, new mopar coolant. Still acting up. Also coolant temp sensor changed.
      Gonna try the radiator cap and if that doest get it, flush again.

I slowly open the reservoir and it fills and would overfill if allowed. Looks like trying temp senor next. Any opinions are appreciated. Only work truck.

    Mine overheated tonight. I sat for a while it cooled down fast (30 minutes) So the resevoir was okay I didn't check the radiator tho I was afraid it, would be too hot! Then I tried to drive it. Got about a mile and bam same thing only worse. And there was no power for 100 ft as I drove it the second time...so I had to call a wrecker to go home. 😢 . what about bad head gasket does that cause it. I hope I didn't ruin my engine. There was no steam. There was no smoke. And only a trickle of antifreeze near my driver front door
