Ladies and gentlemen, today, I take a 2024 C8 Z06 and E-Ray out on NCM's Motor Sport Park road course, and it was awesome. I will let you know my thoughts and impressions and which one I think is the best.

Yeah, the Eray is fantastic for sure.
We know the z06 is faster around corners then the eray. It a better version of the eray. The eray is great car. But at the limit it will always be 2nd to z06

Now do a comparison of everyday driving. I would gladly take the E-Rayy over the Z06 any day of the week. It's a much more fun car to drive because it's start out of the blocks is faster and that's what counts. What percentage of driving time are people actually going to be out on a track? .01%? There's actually more thrill of ownership in the e ray, and it's safer in all weather, and has better brakes.
Forget about pulling out of the corners , it’s the sound of the Z06 that is intoxicating. In every aspect, the Z06 is the ultimate track car.
A pro driver in a stock Stingray would lap you driving either Eray or Z06.
lol, if you’re referring to my speeds, I wasn’t allowed to go fast at all. This isn’t Ron fellows, it’s just a lead follow type situation. Don’t get me wrong, around most corners I could carry good speed but nothing fast on the straights.
@@BrinkofSpeed You misunderstood. "All constraints removed", a pro driver in a stock Stringray will beat you around that track, you driving either an Eray or Z06. Further explanation? The difference in power between a stock Stringray and a Eray/Z-06 is not enough to overcome your deficit as a driver compared to a pro driver at the track.
Further dissection? For the average driver, in particular on the street with 495 hp, a stock Stringray is more car than an average driver can even use, certainly without going to jail. Anything more is a waste of money. Proof? Who knows more about the C8 in all iterations than Tadge Juechter, chief engineer of all models of C8? You may have heard he recently retired. What C8 do you suppose was the most technically challenging? It was the Eray, the car you are interested in buying. What car has the most performance on the race track? The RWD Z06. What car did Tadge choose as homage to his celebrated career at Chevy engineering where I worked? A stock C8 Stingray, not the Z06 or Eray. Tadge is a multi-millionaire. He can afford Ferraris. What car did he choose? In a poll, most would have bet the farm on the Z06. No. He chose a stock C8 Stingray. In summary, of course, he of all people gets it. The public? Not so much.
@@lukewalker1051 that’s nice but another average person won’t lap him in a stingray. You sound like you know some mystery about the stingray which is a street car and even warns to not track the car without z51 option. When you don’t. For all you know Tadge doesn’t care about being the fastest or want to be the loudest at his age and period in his life.
Typically the higher performance cars allows owners to have a higher capacity to push the limit and improve than the lower performance cars so yea it makes sense to get the higher performance option.
Z06 all day every day 💯
Hands down - the E-RAY is the faster car for non-tracking C8 owners. More low end torque which doesn't spike like the Z06 does, and better grip due to AWD and a faster 0-60 time to boot. Slightly more comfortable shocks and springs. That being said, if one has regular track access, the Z06 can help your driving improve and it sounds so damn amazing.
Both are amazing cars, Corvette is offering so many options/choices for a C8 customer.

It's the E-Ray all day for me Mike. It's not EV Vette either. It effectively has the KERS system that the F1 race cars have which really works and you don't have all the weight from the batteries that EV vehicles have. Great video Mike. 👍👍 Save the Wave 🙋♂

Of the ZO6/E-Ray videos I’ve seen…the Eray is the most user friendly as far as consistently hooking up and not getting squirrelly if you don’t hold your tongue just right…unlike the ZO6 which will bite you if you make mistakes. I get the ZO6 soundtrack obsession but for myself not having heard it in person,the regular V-8 soundtrack along with its more useable torque pulls at my heart strings. I’m still debating if an AWD Eray with its extra safety/speed is worth an extra 40-50k over a base Corvette with the Z51 package at approximately 85k…

Catching the track bug is great if you have the money, but Phenom couldn't even afford tires? Both cars are exactly what GM planned for them to be.
I could careless if the ERay way 2 seconds quicker to 60 id still pick the z06 everyday. Driving engagement and a beutiful engine noise is what makes driving fun.

HATE the fake sounds in the E-ray. Hope there’s a way to disable it.

Z06 is badazz but I desire that low end torque of the Eray and trust its engine vs the Z06. Mine would be a DD and no way would I maintain that a C8 Z is reliable. I'd put a louder center exit exhaust on an Eray. 🥃
Seems like if you’re not going to track your car and you want a car that has great pick up and looks similar to the Z06 and has a more comfortable ride, the eRay is the choice. What do you think?
The Z06 has an amazing ride.
I have a 3LT / Z51 Stingray that I keep on track mode 100% of the time except for the suspension I leave in Tour..
I also have a 3LZ /Z07.. I almost passed on the Z07 because I was listening to peoples remarks about how it will be a stiff ride. Well I went with my gut and got the Z07 anyway and as long as you leave the suspension in touring mode, it drives just as smooth as the Stingray.

While the Z06 sound is "intoxicating" as stated below, I find the E-Ray "whine" very annoying on the video. Did you notice the whine or is it just more noticeable on video?
It’s definitely something you can hear inside as well, but it doesn’t sound any worse than a supercharger whine.

I get drone on the Awe touring exhaust when it goes into the v4 mode deactivation, any suggestions??
Yep, don’t let it go into V4 ever. Drive it in manual mode 100% of the time and that stops that.
Also Zmode deactivates the v4 mode…got that tip from ratti rides!!!
Mike. Did both corvettes have the same tires or was the Z06 a Z07 equipped version?
According to the instructor, they were both on all season tires. The Z06 was not a Z07 car, no.

The Z06 is around 3,700 and the Eray 3,900.

The Z06 is without a doubt
If you actually are getting a Z06 you obviously should take advantage of going to the Ron Fellows school in Spring Mountain. Your corner recognition and tracking is not too good. You are way too early into the corners and too slow coming out and believe me at Ron Springs will drill that into until it’s second nature. It will be the most valuable and learning $1000 you will ever spend.
I’m went there in 2019 when I got my first Z06 and learned a lot even though I had been racing for over 45 years. My new Z06 will be in next week and I will be signing up for a return trip.

I wouldn't agree with that. They are different flavours, but oh so damn close in performance.
Shouldn't even be a question, it's the one that doesn't rely on batteries that deplete and the weight associated with them. EV's are goofy and are not compatible with track driving if you don't want to be laughed at.
E-Ray tires were squealing at 50mph? Under inflated? There was no orange chase car for the pro 😂

Not really a C8 fan but I'll take an E-Ray all day long for a street / Track toy... I live Torque more than high revs... I don't like the Fake / copy cat Ferrari sound from the ZO6 and the fanboy following. Put some good Summer / Track tires on the E-Ray and it'll be just as quick / fast on track by 99% in most people's hands.

The E-Ray will out run the 06 through the 1/4 mile, but the 06 will over take the E-Ray from there on,
The goat is the c6 zr1. Both of those are fart popsicles.
Eray for now because you can mod it. Gm are fools. The corvette culture grew because of being able to mod them and build 1000hp plus cars. Locking the ecu was a big mistake.
A helmet should have been required when you were driving.
C7 Zr1 is the 🐐
I can respect that, but I believe the C8 Z06 is just as good if not better.
@@BrinkofSpeed C8 Zr1 will challenge the throne for sure. I just feel the C8 Z06 and E-Ray will soon be obsolete as production rises and the Zr1 overshadows them

C8 Z06…? It will go down in history as the greatest Corvette ever. They can’t make one better, only gimmicky like the Eray. When you own one you will understand. I could buy any car I want and I choose to have the C8 Z07. My second choice would be a Tecnica, although it has old Tech and majorly dated door handles.
OEM Z06 has 670 HP, mine now has over 730. Best car $$$ can buy ✌🏼
Z06 is Goat. It doesn't everything better. Faster, lighter, stops better, faster around a track sounds better.
Eray is more consistent in 0-60 cause awd. But thats it. Its a better daily car.

Yeah the z06 is not going to be very reliable. Too high octane for GM to handle. I would wait a few years. Just look them up online.

I have one, just didn’t have it with me and we weren’t going fast enough to really justify wearing one until the professional drove and then we both wore one.
The Eray is a China filled electrical mess. It will run good for a few years but will fail as most of the electronics are sourced from GM Chinese factories. It’s the Temu of cars. 78% of the parts in the EV system are China.😂
