This was a video I had uploaded from awhile ago and I'm gonna share it again, because I found it to be a good case in which another technician may find it helpful in identifying directions when approaching an intermittent issue.
I DIDN'T let this go without suggesting to do the switch...so please don't assume this, I thought I was very clear in the video about that...but...there's always that guy.

I have to say when your looking at the wiring diagrams on that big screen it's easy to read. My old eyes like that. Nice chase of the culprit wire and connector. As a customer we like fixes with no parts required but yeah, I'd get the switch too.

I'm kinda having the same problem but if I hold my key it will run the starter will shut off it will stay running. I took it to lot of different places they can't fine out what's wrong with it at all. I replaced everything in my car. It's a 2005 chevy impala LS 3.8 L I hope this video can maybe help me out here I been looking at different videos. If I let ago of the key it shut off it's werid to tell you the truth I been a mechanic for 6 years never seen nothing like this before I was seeing if I could get some help or maybe so information

I hate having to go under my dash. Looks like you found the problem, but I don't think die-electric grease would be needed unless there is a water problem there. I have learned to avoid getting it on the pins, because its non-conductive and can cause more problems. My car, I would de-pin it and reshape the pins for tighter fit.
Thanks for the vid, need more LOL

I have never had an issue with that...been using it moderately on connectors and seals (except O2 Sensors ofcourse) and have never seen it to cause issues.
Maybe I'm wrong, but if it has worked on airbag ckts connection problems I'm simply not doubting it is able to be conductive...

Tell the costumer too take all the keys of there key chain so many ignition switches fail from heavy keychains

Mine was totally different. When it was running at a little high temperature, it wouldn’t start. It turned out to be a fuel filter . Had to drop the gas tank. I paid someone to do it for me.
